"Everyone stay together. Let's investigate this strange turn of events." Maximillian suggests to the others as he begins to move slowly towards the battle.

@Branson: Whoops! :S In that case you would've taken the blue crysmal out before it could damage you for 10! Meaning you don't need heals after all! :)

You notice you can see Zeeva and any other people in the market stare in amazement at you from the superimposed image of the Green Market, and realize Zeeva wasn't transported with you. A fact that's perhaps explainable by Zeeva suddenly jumping back after she'd finished the ritual and distancing herself too far from the altar, because the sudden dizziness freaked her out. On closer inspection you notice it's like the observers are looking through you, instead of at you.

"I was never a pacifist," a booming voice in the air intones before you can move anywhere. "My belief was merely that the way forward for my people was unity. The Azghat divided us in the time before memory, but the world had moved on. Every quah could maintain its honor, but without the need to divide the people against itself. So I renounced the powers of the sun and the flame, to walk the green path-to become the Green Heart."

"I was such a fool," Galdron snarls as he appears above the stone table. The ghost is of a bald male, garbed in hide armor and holding a short spear in hand. A corona of fire sheathes his head and rises from his eyes. Molten gold drips from where a spearhead and shaft protrude from his chest, revealing the wound that took his life. Slightly up north two large fire elementals appear.

Ref, Ryker: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

The orange fire elemental moves up to Ryker and attacks him. The elemental's fiery fist hits Ryker, but the rogue's lucky and doesn't catch on fire.

Fireball: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 1, 3, 3) = 11 Looks like luck's on your side here! :)

Galdron Greenheart raises his arms to the sky as he casts a spell. A small ball of fire forms in the palms of his hands, and he throws it to the floor beneath him, where the fireball explodes into a sea of flames that engulfs all of you. The fireball's not that incredibly powerful, though, and most of you are even able to dodge the worst of it. Ryker's even able to avoid taking any damage at all from the fire spell.

Round 1:

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Bertha realizes Galdron's an incorporeal being with undead traits and a resistance to channels, and shares this with the others. Branson's not able to add any more information.

Bertha nods as she realizes that that Galdron is an incorporeal undead.

And then she begins casting a spell.

Command Undead on Galdron. DC 19 will save.

@Maximillian: Are there specific things you'd like to know that Bertha hasn't asked about already?

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Bertha casts command undead and is able to gain control over the mind of Galdron Greenheart. However, because the ghost is quite intelligent, she will still have to convince him to (not) take certain actions.

@Bertha: Anything you want to command Galdron to do before I move forward? Please make a Charisma roll with your command.

Galdron stop this non-sense now please dear. We have come here to talk not fight. Call off your lackies please

Bertha says as she crosses her arms across her chest and taps her foot impatiently.

just a rules question Command undead states "you must win an opposed Charisma check to convince it to do anything it wouldn't ordinarily do" so would stop fighting and talk fall under that? just incase the role is below.

charisma: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Maximillian somehow realizes Galdron's a flame oracle and will therefor share certain abilities with other oracles who have the flame mystery.

@Bertha: He's currently 'clouded by anger' and that's why he's fighting. He normally wouldn't stop fighting till you'd defeat him. Your spell made him more susceptible to what you have to say though, so I'll give you a +2 bonus on your Cha check.

Charisma Galdron: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
And with that +2 you actually do convince him to stop fighting!

Galdron becomes solemn when he hears Bertha's wounds, and with a wave of his hands dismisses the fire elementals. Proud and hot tears roll down his cheeks as the ghost explains, "The violence at the Market caused me to revert to who I once was. In returning to my original self, I forgot who I had later become, and why I was right to do so. Your words reminded me of that."

Galdron casts aside his short spear. The ghost clutches at his chest and seems to pull the flames from his body into his heart as he closes his fist around it. Squeezing, he forms it into a glimmering red gem - an elemental gen (fire) - which he also tosses to the ground. "It is not weapons or armor which prevent peace, but succumbing to wrath. I see this now. I will not protect the Green Market, as others must find their own unity, unmotivated by fear."

The Shoanti, now no longer smoldering and smoking, levitates above his sacred altar, salutes to you as though raising a spear, and then melds with the stone table. A few moments later, after you collect your rewards, the scene begins to waver and you return to the Green Market on the Material Plane.

You're greeted with a wide-eyed crowd staring at you when you suddenly pop back up next to the altar in the Material Plane. Zeeva comes running up to you. "What happened? Where did you go?"

Bertha smiles as Maximillian. Sometimes understanding undeath is a good thing she says with a wry smile.

after the paladin finishes explaining to Zeeva Bertha asks What about the aspis surely they will be back?

Ryker gives Bertha a big slap on the back.

"You sure are a swell one, my dear. I was not looking forward to fighting more elementals. They don't have any soft spots!" He stows his oil and sheaths his dagger before dropping back to scan the crowd.

"It is sometimes great to see that not to fight can also lead to success!"

"The Aspis agent and his thugs have left," Zeeva tells you. "I have the impression they're now aware of the fact I have strong allies, and they'll likely think twice before bothering me again."

Conclusion

Zeeva Foxglove thanks the Pathfinders for eliminating the Aspis Consortium threat-at least for the time being-but wonders if reports of giant plant monsters, ghosts, and outsiders may have contributed to this as much as the PCs' actions. Zeeva has the shrine permanently unearthed and restored as a fountain in the center of the Green Market in honor of Galdron Greenheart, which pleases Telmayne Fire-Eyes and goes a long way toward ensuring the market and the South Shore district have peaceful relations with the Shoanti.

The Green Market continues to grant preternatural luck and business acumen to those plying their trade within its walls, but the spirit of Galdron Greenheart no longer punishes the sale of weapons, armor, and magic items. As such, the Green Market opens its doors to traders of all wares, bringing even larger profits to the community and, of course, to Zeeva Foxglove.

Chronicle sheets will follow soon!
