Just a voice, I'll ensure you know if anything commands you.
Tromos delays eyeing the lava and then starring wide eyed at the mural. The cleric of Moloch steps back, chanting and points at Rogar who feels a sudden wash of fear which he laughs off with ease!
Everyone is up!
Rogar Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

"Riiiight... I'll make sure to give Moloch something... if I ever meet him... not what you think, though...."
Acrobatics check: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16
Rogar circles towards the devil worshipper

Thovar eyes the lava warily as he leaps over the next stream to stand between Rogar and the enemy. He walks up to the cleric and tries to strike her, but she easily dodges his blow.
Acrobatics vs DC 5: 1d20 + 1 - 5 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 1 - 5 + 4 = 13
attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10
Rogar, with your current hp I figured I would step in first... sorry if you were intending to go there!

![]() |

Ehrm... no problem but... don't you need at least 2 checks to jump above the lava and how did you move that far?

![]() |

This is round 2 Thovar made a check last round and another this, he's spent two move action one each turn so all looks good to me. I must admit I was a little puzzled as to why you had not attacked her being in range to do so.

![]() |

Grabbing his shortbow in his off-hand, Ket will step forward and stab at the priestess, taking advantage of the distraction provided by Thovar.
Rapier: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Sneak Attack: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Edit: Phooey.

This is round 2 Thovar made a check last round and another this, he's spent two move action one each turn so all looks good to me. I must admit I was a little puzzled as to why you had not attacked her being in range to do so.
Because, to my count I was not in position to attack her having spent all of my movement. I might have been mistaken in my counting though. Anyway no biggie, let Thorvar deal with her
As he's readying himself to strike Rogar notices Thorvar race past him and strike at the villainous priestess of Moloch. Although frustrated by the sudden turn of events the Taldan sligtly bows to the dwarf:"Be my guest... I guess!"

Tromos and Alafair wait to see if they are needed. Dropping her whip the cleric of Moloch draws forth her holy symbol and calls, "Moloch destroy those who would defy your fiery glory!"
A wave of negative energy pulses forth badly effecting both Rogar and Ket, who find themselves barely able to stand after the onslaught. Thovar manages to fight off the worst of the effect, but still suffers.
Everyone hears laughter from the fresco, You are nothing give int, throw yourself in the lava, so much easier...
Rogar and Ket each take 8 damage, Thovar takes 4.
Everyone is up!

So Alafair must have gotten skipped in Round 1, if we're in Round 2. It went "everyone but Alafair" to "everyone up in Round 2" somehow. I will post both round actions here if you want to give them play.
Round 1
Alafair sends a burst of electrical energy arcing across the lava flows at the priestess.
Elemental Ray, electrial, ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Elecrtrical dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 likely a miss, but...
Round 2
Alafair leaps over the first lava flow, then follows up her electrical ray with a Magic Missile.
Acrobatics DC 5: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
MM dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

![]() |

Alafair's ray just misses the mark thanks to the cover offered by the idol and altar, but her force missile hits unerringly hurting the priestess of Moloch.
Everyone is up! We'll just bump Alafair up since Tromos is not responding.
My apologies Alafair you are absolutely right.

Staggering back after the wave of negative energy, Ket sheathes his rapier and fires his shortbow at the evil priestess.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

![]() |

Not being able to reach the priestess Rogar clenches his teeth enduring the punishing wave of negative energy and moves on the other side of the room determined to pay the priestess back
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17
Ket, I need to ask you to give me a clear view off the priestess so I can charge her

Gonna try and drag her out...
Thovar shifts his warhammer into his shield hand and tries to grab the cleric with his now-free hand.
grapple CMB: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15 (provokes an attack of opportunity)

Snarling the woman slams her mace into the side of Thovar's head leaving blood trickling through his hair and halting his attempt to drag her out.
Thovar takes 7 damage.
Alafair is up!
AoO Mace vs Thovar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

The priestess steps back towards Ket and casts a spell chanting, a glowing translucent whip appears floating in the air besides Thovar and lashes out at the dwarf! The whip connects but does only a little damage leaving a painful slash upon the dwarf's cheek. The cleric of Moloch then bends and retrieves her whip.
Thovar takes 2 damage.
Everyone is up!
Whip vs Thovar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Round 3
Seeing the boys close to melee with the priestess of Moloch, Alafair jumps one more river of lava, loosing her last Magic Missile in the process.
MM DMG: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Acrobatics DC 5: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
"Take that you evil witch. My boys will finish you sooner rather than later."

![]() |

Ket takes a step back and out of the way, giving Rogar a clear path to the priestess, and he holds himself ready to attack as soon as the priestess drops her guard.
Readied action to attack with shortbow if the priestess provokes an AoO.
Or ... not. :(

![]() |

As ket jumps away from the Moloch worshipping priestess, giving him a clear path, Rogar charges at the blasphemous opponent, his Taldan courtesy towards women somehow dulled by the knowledge this opponent could very well sniff them all out if given the chance.
Charge attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 = 18
Damage roll: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17

![]() |

The figures in the obsidian relief howl in anguish as Hafashi falls to Rogar's mighty blow her armour almost turning it aside, but giving way at the last moment. She falls bleeding out, but not yet dead.
It seems the idol you were sent for is the one before you, but it still spews forth lava from some strange portal within its mouth. Without the sounds of combat you can hear screams, and the clash of weapon from within the tiny portal between its jaws.

![]() |

Rogar looks at the idol clenching his jaw with his right hand, puzzled:"Mmmmh... I don't know about such things but... do you thing keeping this ugly thing where it is to be healthy? Its appearance somehow disturbs me..."

![]() |

Thovar cringes as he inspects his various wounds. Best get those healed...
Then he is distracted by the idol before them. "Huh. What do you make of those noises coming from it?"

![]() |

I suspect we should do something with the idol, but I can't figure out what. Maybe someone with knowledges can?

![]() |

The sounds of violent clashes and eruptions continue to emit from the idol's mouth, while in the obsidian relief figures move and after a while Ket, Alafair, and Thovar note that the strange mental urgings they are receiving marry to the movements of demonic figures within.
Ket Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Thovar Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Rogar Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Ket Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Alafair Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 11

![]() |

"Can someone figure out how to turn that thing off? It's making me crazy with the voices in my head." says Alafair, distressed.
She looks for ways to stop the mouth from making the terrible sounds.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 18

![]() |

Rogar nods:"Yeah... I have to admit it's none too pleasant... shutting them down would be appreciated..."

![]() |

Ket walks up behind the idol, looking at it from all angles except straight on. He takes a dagger and carefully taps different parts of the small statue, listening to the sounds it makes when prodded. Finally, he sheathes the dagger, grabs the raised arms of the statue, and pulls them into a downward position, then holds his breath.

![]() |

The portal closes as Ket lowers the idol's arms, the lava flowing from its mouth slowing to a trickle and then stopping completely. Gradually the magma disappears and the room cools appreciably. The noises from the portal stop, but the obsidian fresco's denizens continue there insidious whispering.
The idol looks like it will be a real pain to transport back to The Society, but with a lot of hard work it should be manageable.

![]() |

Distracted by the voices in his head Rogar starts getting angrier and angrier, identifying the source of the fastidious wisphers with the obsidian relief on the wall:"Bah... these whispers are starting to grate on my nerves... far from me to destroy art but... that fresco seems like a huge blotch on the wall so I guess ridding the world of it would actually be a good action after all..."
Can we destroy it? Would it help making the voices go away?

![]() |

But will it stop the voices?!?!? stop them.... STOP THEEEEMMMMMM... AAAARGHHHHH :P

![]() |

By smashing it?
Rogar takes a good look at the ugly thing then raises his sword and smashes down on it!
power attack roll: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 1 = 24
Damage roll: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 1) + 9 = 11

![]() |

It takes a few blows for Rogar to shatter the fresco and when he does two smokey things scream and flow forth from it dissipating into nothingness before the group's eyes. The voices stop.
The Pathfinders face a long arduous journey back through the desert, but eventually manage to return with the Molochinan Idol completing their quest.
Scenario completed! Expect Chronicles tomorrow. FYI smashing the fresco earned you the 2nd prestiege point :)
