Shayla's here, and ready to go! :)
Thanks again for running The Enigma Vaults, and thanks for also running this!
Akeyra the Constrictor

And here's Akeyra, Shayla's animal companion! All of Akeyra's stats are in her profile, and Shayla and Akeyra their profiles both have a link to each other.
I fear for quite some squeezing in the hallways, but I guess it can't be helped.

I’m looking for people who’d like to play in my PbP Game Day games. They’ll all be tier 1-2. If you’re interested, here are the links to the recruitment pages:
Archibald the Addlebrained

I'm afraid I still need to find the time to level up! So many deadlines looming and I haven't been home much, but I'll try to have it done before our first combat.

Found myself here.

Which game are we playing here?
Shayla Amye

@Shayla; I've played all 3 already. But if you still need players by the time the gameday starts I could join the Confirmation.
I've got maybe 1 other player for The Confirmation, but I fear I'm not going to fill that one up. I'll keep your offer in mind, thanks a lot! :)
Shayla Amye

I have one that could go on Confirmation...
You're welcome to join! :)

Does anyone know if you can receive Race Boons without going to conventions? I have a Samsaran character I wanted to make at some point, but never do conventions...

I got the Oread race boon for GMing a game during the previous PbP Game Day. There'll likely be another GM Boon this time, and I'm hoping for another race boon. (Not like I've used this one yet.)
People trade boons in this thread. So if you have another boon you could try that. Sometimes people also trade for other things, like scenarios or minis. Money's a big no-no though: that'd be selling instead of trading, and making profit from selling your boons is very much frowned upon.

You should always try some GM-ing ;)
But if you want a race boon (and don't want to/can't go to Cons) then GM-ing an adventure for the PBP PFS gamedays is most likely your best change to get one.
No clue what there will be this time though
The only other way I can come up with is get one from someone who has one

I'll be on camp Wednesday - Friday, and the internet connection is rumored to be awful where I'm staying. I'm taking my laptop with me, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to make posts while there.

Okay, thinking of starting my first scenario DMing for Game Day (likely either Confirmation or Master of the Fallen Fortress).
I've ready through the Guide to Organized Play, and see how to report Chronicles when I'm finished. But is there anything I need to do to set it up? Do I just start a thread in recruitment to recruit players (you are all of course invited!)? Or do I need to set it up as an official Game Day scenario somehow?
Any tips appreciated!

You can just make a recruitment thread and do the recruiting and all that the usual way. You'll also have to officially register your game for the Game Day. See this post for more info on the PbP Game Day.
It's a shame you didn't decide on GMing earlier, because you could get up to 3 scenarios for free if you'd choose to GM them :(

If they fall in, they only way we could see them is if we were flying over it, or standing at the edge...
How do you figure? The pit is a whopping 10ft wide with sloped sides, our opponent large sized and the other sitting on top of a large sized creature and we're attacking from a higher elevation again from up on the stairs. I don't think it would have more than partial cover and the party have plenty of splash weapons to target touch AC in that case. Insofar as I can tell our opponents have no way to hit us should they fail their saves, they take 2d6 falling damage and land prone, so if nothing else that's a round or two of relative safety.
If you want to take your chances with Mr Nine Attacks a Round down there you go ahead and be my guest, but I think we've seen on the previous level with that Visitant creature that Thornkeep doesn't pull any punches. Wouldn't you agree?

With the caveat that I can't access the map, and see how far we are elevated above the pit, I wish to draw attention to the following:
You create a 10-foot-by-10-foot extradimensional hole with a depth of 10 feet per two caster levels (maximum 30 feet). You must create the pit on a horizontal surface of sufficient size. Since it extends into another dimension, the pit has no weight and does not otherwise displace the original underlying material. You can create the pit in the deck of a ship as easily as in a dungeon floor or the ground of a forest. Any creature standing in the area where you first conjured the pit must make a Reflex saving throw to avoid falling into it. In addition, the edges of the pit are sloped, and any creature ending its turn on a square adjacent to the pit must make a Reflex saving throw with a +2 bonus to avoid falling into it. Creatures subjected to an effect intended to push them into the pit (such as bull rush) do not get a saving throw to avoid falling in if they are affected by the pushing effect.
Creatures who fall into the pit take falling damage as normal. The pit’s coarse stone walls have a Climb DC of 25. When the duration of the spell ends, creatures within the hole rise up with the bottom of the pit until they are standing on the surface over the course of a single round.
So, at this level, the pit is 20' deep (since Archibald is 5th level)
So the beetle is still 10' below the top of the pit. RAW, a rider occupies the same physical space as the mount, so it is not technically any easier to see.
The edges of the pit are dangerously slanted, but nowhere does it say that makes it easier to see the bottom of the pit.
Create Pit is a great spell to take a brute like a golem temporarily out of a combat, but generally speaking, it doesn't usually give a free pass to kill an opponent with ranged attacks.

Everything that Heinrich said is correct as far as I know.
The ledge on the side of the room is 10 ft above the ground floor (so 30 ft above the bottom of the pit ) I'll admit that drawing lines in 3D combat isn't something I'm good in, but I _think_ that if you aim for the rear row of the squares (which is 25 ft away) the beetle occupies you should be able to shoot at it without having to go through the edge of the pit. They'd have cover though.

In case anyone is wondering why Heinrich isn't in the initiative order;
He's contacted me and he won't be participating in the game from now on. So I'm going to have him on permanent delay (unless he posts that he's doing something himself) waiting outside of the room, guarding your rear.
Just to prevent someone from worrying, nothing bad happened to him.

:(
That's too bad...I've really enjoyed running through most of these dwarf-laden sessions...I hope we can finish this okay without his help.
He's a great tank.

Shame :(
I hope he'll be able to return.

Same here. He was a fantastic dwarf to be with.

I hope our disagreement didn't have anything to do with it? I'm sorry to see him go.
I'm sorry if my posting has been sparse and my actions not particularly well thought out, my summer job's had me absolutely flat out. This might have to be my last scenario with you guys depending on my work situation, but I mean to see it out until it's conclusion. Thanks for bearing with me thus far!

It would a shame to see the stinky, hairy human Archibald leave as well. I hope he'll be able to join us in our exploration of Thornkeep's last floor!
Cogstadt Locksmith

I seem to be hitting one thing after another in RL as well, I'm sure it's been noticeable my posting has been spotty lately. I'll stick through to the end of the level, but I might have to call it a day with this after this one.

Will be on 'Holiday' from 12th December to 22nd December. I'm told that there's no WiFi.

Have a good time! :)

When we go to the last level of Thornkeep, Shayla and her new animal companion will be level 7. I applied some more GM credit to Shayla, to make her and her companion a bit more durable :)
I hope that'll help to pull us through with less casualties!
Archibald the Addlebrained

I think I'll withdraw from another of my games and stick with you guys through the last of Thornkeep. I'd hoped to be working two jobs this summer, but my usual job is quiet over christmas and as I showed up for day one of retail work I got a panicked look from the manager who explained that she'd filled my position without contacting me. (Things like these make me regret doing my degree part time...)
On the plus side I'll have time to post, so let's get Clandelve raised and kick some butt :)
Clandelve Hammerhand

Thanks so much for the offers to help divide up the cost of a raise dead...that's much appreciated. I know it's not required, and I know it's a hit for those willing to chip in, so I'm glad to hear that.
Good luck finishing the battle!

K, I don't expect this to take much longer so if everyone could roll a dayjob (if they have any) and make sure I can find your pfs number somewhere I'll send the chronicles out when I can (most likely somewhere between Christmas and new years).
Also with Heinrich and Cogstadt dropping out..do you want to continue with the 4 of you or do you want me to open a recruiting and see if we can find 1 or 2 more?
