" I say as Telos, check the last door then move on. Who knows what lingers in our rear otherwise."
Revvy Bitterleaf |
After you open the door you see;
Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in a large puddle on the floor.
In the middle of the room is a dog-sized lizard has two horns, one on either side of its head, and green scales that crackle with sparks of lightning.
As it notices you opening the door and bringing in light from outside it looks up at you and hisses while sparks continue to leap around on it's scales.

Telos grimaces as the electrical current courses through his body, though he is able to shake off the worst of the effects. However, the pain keeps him from attacking effectively, and his polearm smashes into the ground with a clack instead of hitting his target.
Telos backs away from the door in order to allow his companions a chance to hit the beast.

Wild empathy is as far as I know like diplomacy..which takes about 10 minutes to use..and doesn't work quite as well against something that's already engaged in combat. It had a decent chance to work (all thought the die result wasn't high enough, with a extra -4 for using it on a magical beast) when first encountered but...
Hskori tries to sooth the wild beast but even her lisping tongue doesn't seem able to calm down the creature while weapons and arrows are getting to close to comfort for the lizard

"Anyone want to take a crack at this lock?" Telos asks.
"In the alternative, I can bash the door down. Or, we could just come back later."
Jessique |
My arm feels numb, that was a jolt but nothing serious. I just hope their isn't more of little buggers, that could be trouble.
Jessique flexes her hand, wondering how long before the tingling goes away. She reloads her crossbow as she heads upstairs.
Dolgo Pinkerton |
Dolgo thinks about looking over the lock but still a little javelin shy at the moment.
"I am still a bit weak from our javelin surprise earlier. Might someone have the strength to break this lock?"
Dolgo chants again adding power to the group.

Dolgo stands prepared with bow in hand for whatever may come from the door.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Telos with the help from Nijena manages to burst through the door
Inside you see;
Two stone altars, one black and one white, sit at either end of this large chamber, which takes up two wings of the tower on this level. The crumbling remains of wooden benches sag in front of each altar beneath rotting ceiling tapestries. Carved symbols and writings snake along the walls. The burnt corpses of two troglodytes lie on the floor in the center of the room.
This room is a temple dedicated to Nethys, the god of magic, in both of his aspects: protection and destruction. The writings on the walls are quotes from Nethys’s holy book.
The corpses on the floor burst into flame start to rise and their jaws open in soundless screams as they raise their weapons and move to attack.
These are burning skeletons, they are resistant to non bludgeoning damage and the aura of flames around them will burn you badly when you are inside it (5ft around them, 1d6 fire damage at the start of your turn)

As Dolgo shoots his arrow at one of the skeletons his arrow flies straigth through the skeletons ribcage (doesn't hit AC ..and wouldn't have done any damage due to the skeleton having DR 5/Bludgeoning)
Nijena then walks into the room and hits the (red) skeleton with her flail smashing it's skull clean of the rest of it's body. As the head flies through the air the rest of it explodes into a spray of fiery bony shards

It then swings his broken scimitar at her

As you look around the room you see that the altars still contain their silver altar services,
worth 90-110 gp altogether
As well as two silver holy symbols of Nethys (one on each altar).
In addition, a divine scroll rests atop each altar one on the black altar, and another scroll on the white altar.
