"Sinashakti, guide these souls on their final journey -- the path to judgment for the acts they committed in life," the halfling says sadly. "I hope there is atonement, or mercy, awaiting."

Skipper proposes setting a watch during the night in case the dead harpies' friends come looking for them, and volunteers for first watch.

The wizardess, not accustomed to days of marching in such a cold environment, goes to sleep early and rises in an early manner the next day. She takes a good deal of time preparing more appropriate spells.

Usual spells cast in the morning, false life was already rolled earlier. I'll cast a few spells lasting 90 minutes before coming close to the harpies' nest. She casts resist energy (cold), communal; mass feather step on the whole party and heroism on herself.

EDIT: Ouroboreia will also prepare and cast endure elements.

Skipper determines that the minotaur was killed by a combination of arrow, claw and morningstar attacks. It's frozen condition may just be a result of the higher altitude.

No particular need for any particular sleeping arrangement, except that we should take watch in pairs. I'd appreciate if someone helped Kleetus put on his armor when it comes time for him to take a watch. And Thanks must be given to Abadar with the sun's rise I believe. Also, Kleetus has the Snomask Induction boon, which gives him the effects of Endure Elements in cold weather.

With Communal Airwalk it's an easy trip up, though the zombies won't be joining you.

The wide mouth of this frigid cavern is almost completely sealed by thick pillarlike accumulations of ice and snow. An enormous stone column dominates the center of the cave’s interior. A small platform, cut into the pillar just below where two archways of ice branch off to join the cavern walls, bears a grotesquely carved throne decorated with draconic motifs. Stalactites, some as long as fifteen feet, droop in patches along the ceiling, while rows of shorter, jagged stalagmites sprout from the cavern floor. An icy stone shelf above the western corner of the cave partially obscures a narrow passageway leading deeper into the cavern. On throne, a slightly scaled harpy reclines with two frost drakes curled up at her feet. The alcove at the rear of the cave is brimming with harpies.

The scaled harpy on the throne eyes you with barely hidden disgust.

"More thieves and assassins, just like the adventurers who slew my glorious progenitor. Attack, my pretties!"

The drakes rear up, ready for battle, but the majority of the harpies retreat through a tunnel at the far end of the cave, leaving three of them behind.

The cave is 40 ft high, with the throne 20 ft off the cave floor, and the shelf 30 ft off the floor.

Reflex, Jerevyx: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Reflex, Drake, red: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Reflex, Drake, blue: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Skipper blasts the creatures with divine light, but they all manage to shield their eyes.

The drakes each breath a blast of freezing mist, hitting Kleetus, Jagger, Skipper and Zephyrus.

Cold damage, red: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 2, 1, 4, 6) = 24
Cold damage, blue: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 5, 3, 5, 3) = 30

Reflex, Kleetus v red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Reflex, Kleetus v blue: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Reflex, Skipper v red: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Reflex, Zephyrus v red: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Reflex, Zephyrus v blue: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Kleetus and Jaggar dodge most of the mist while the warding spell takes the rest. Skipper and Zephyrus aren't as lucky.

The drakes then fly out to meet you.

Before battle, as we're climbing the slope...

Zephyrus pulls out what looks like a piece of black bread or jerky and eats it.

false life: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 So adjust the damage I've actually taken accordingly

He also consumes what looks like a round of peanut brittle, and offers similar tidbits to Kleetus and Ouroboreia (infusions of barkskin, grants you +3 natural armor for 70 minutes).

Finally, he takes out three phials containing airy, lambent blue liquid, downs one, and offers the other two to Jaggar and Skipper infusions of heroism, duration 70 minutes, may have made a difference in Skipper's and my saving throws.

Heroism wont save Skipper from his natural 1, but Zephyrus makes the second save.

I gave it to you just before we got here, you would have been able to down it then. DM allows us to do that, imperfections of the PbP format and all.

As a matter of fact, I also would have given you an enlarge person infusion (which might be what you need to down now, since its duration is so much shorter).

Ouroboreia fully described the frost drakes earlier.

GM Skipper wrote:
@Ouroboreia: Frost Drakes are immune to cold, paralysis and sleep. They're vulnerable to fire. It has a breath attack, that works like a Fireball, but deals cold damage and creates difficult terrain. They have no DR.

Kleetus rushes forward and lands a blow on the blue drake, but learns the hard way that they have a long reach, as the other one tries to bite him.

Attack, dazzled: 1d20 + 15 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 15 - 1 = 19
-2 AC from the charge, but +1 from haste makes for a lucky Abadarian.

The scaled harpy casts a spell, and suddenly there are 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 copies of her.

The blue-feathered harpy flies down to Kleetus and takes a swing at him with her morningstar.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The green-plumed one follows suit.

Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The remaining one flies around the back of the throne area, ending up next to Ethendril, who greets her with a swing of his greatsword.

Ethendril, his agility enhanced by the magic of his companions, swings more quickly than his weathered form might otherwise be able to.

He swings once at the harpy in front of him, then twice more. My target for the last two swings will depend on what happens if I hit an image of the harpy, or the real harpy. If red happens to be the real one, I'll continue my other attacks against it. If at any point it is no longer a relevant target, I'll 5' step to the blue drake.

The paladin feels some of his life energy go to Skipper. Skipper, heal 5 hp from Life Link.

(earlier:) "Oh gosh, thanks!" Skipper says to the offer of the infusion from Zephyrus.

Now:

Skipper grimaces a little at the slight sting of gold that gets past the spell he's under, then nods with a smile at Ethendril when some of that pain eases. He looks around the battlefield, considering, and then begins another prayer.

(GM: to me it looks like Skipper has cover from blue drake due to that ice stalagmite or whatever. If he doesn't, however, he'll cast defensively)

Concentration, DC 23 (combat casting, harrow bonus): 1d20 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 21 + 1 = 25 Lol. Yay for high static boost.

Another burst of blinding, heavenly light starts to fill the icy cave-- this one much bigger.

Standard to cast holy smite, area as indicated by the white circle on the map; it is effectively a 40-ft sphere if that matters for height issues.

Damage: 5d8 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 2, 4) = 17

DC 21 Will save - evil creatures take half damage on a save; full on a fail and blinded for 1 round. Kleetus is unaffected.

His prayer completed, Skipper takes a five-foot step back into open air.
