Morrolan de'Morcaine |
Yep, I can't see any way to get out of full attack range without drawing an AoO. But now that you bring it up, I guess I should go the other way. I'll still draw an AoO, but from the other statue.
Gabriel Arken |
HP: 18/30
Seeing the creature swing at Morrolan, Gabriel decided to take a risk.
He scrambles to his feet and follows Morrolan out of the room.
Move action to stand (hope no combat reflexes!) and Move action to move next to Morrolan in the hallway (1 square down/south).
"Thanks for providing some cover for me Morrolan!"
Doombringer the DM |
Alright, as you escape, the statue next to Roary swings three times.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 1) + 5 = 10
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
2d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 5) + 5 = 11
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 3) + 5 = 10
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Roary, please tell me which hit you, and which trip you. If the first one trips then you fall prone for the other attacks. You may then take your turn.
Roary Flamebearer |
Both of them hit, neither trip.. AC is currently 20, CMD is 26. With DR 3/- he takes 15 damage.
"RAWR!" is all that can be discerned..
Roary swings back 3 times..
Attack 1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
Attack 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 miss..
Haste: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Confirm 1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18 no confirm..
Dam 1: 2d4 + 21 ⇒ (1, 4) + 21 = 26
Dam Haste: 2d4 + 21 ⇒ (1, 3) + 21 = 25
Doombringer the DM |
And smash goes the statue! However... Logain, this is not your lucky day. With Gabriel gone, this statue has no one to attack but yourself... Which means he five foot steps down and full attacks.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Damage 1: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Trip 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Attack 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Damage 2: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Trip 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Attack 3: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage 3: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Trip 3: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Skipper Daytripper |
"Ohdear," Skipper says at hyperspeed thanks to Jakarno's spell, watching Logain fall. "Sinashaktigrantuslifetokeepjourneying--"
Warm energy flares outward from the halfling, bathing the others.
Channeling to heal, excluding the two remaining guardians. Should be able to reach everyone.
Heal to party: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 6) = 14
Logain Xanatus |
First hit misses since I had shield up. This is exactly why I didn't want to play up, 3 hasted tripping constructs and with those babs Logain won't be able to do much. However with the channel I'm at full hp
Logain grumps some words and moves away behind Skipper while he reassesses the situation.
since they only have one aoo and he can't trip a prone person, should be fine-ish

Jakarno |
Kiklit draws a scroll from his pack and begins to mutter as he reads from it, a circle of summoning beginning to appear.
Draw and start to cast from Scroll of Summon Monster 2
Gabriel Arken |
Need to even the odds a bit.
Gabriel begins chanting and points at a spot on the ground inside the room.
Casts grease centered at the bottom left corner of the construct to the right, ref save DC 17.
Does anyone need me to move? If not, Gabriel stays put.
Gabriel Arken |
[dice=Reflex]1d20+5
What area do you want the grease in?
The 10x10 starting to the top right of Roary so the construct can't 5 ft step towards him as it'll be difficult terrain.
Also, HP at max due to channel.
Doombringer the DM |
Alright, so it is going to take a move action to get to Roary (stupid thing that it is)
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Fall flat on it's face, and spend another move action to stand. It is still in it's original square I think.
Which means Roary, Morrolan, you're up.
(You see guys! Challenging, but nothing you guys can't handle at the moment. Go teamwork!)
Roary Flamebearer |
Roary takes a 5' step and full attacks another statue.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
Attack 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Attack Haste: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Dam 1: 2d4 + 21 ⇒ (1, 1) + 21 = 23
Dam 2: 2d4 + 21 ⇒ (1, 1) + 21 = 23
Dam 3: 2d4 + 21 ⇒ (4, 4) + 21 = 29
"DIE BASTARDS!"
Roary Flamebearer |
He could 5' step to either one and full attack he'lol go to the other one and avoid the grease..
Morrolan de'Morcaine |
I drew on the grease and moved Roary to the other one.
Morrolan uses his expert judgement and decides this is a time for some unconventional weapons.
Swift action justice judgement, move action to draw a vial, standard action to hurl it, and 5' step to move forward to block for the others.
alch fire to hit ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19, if hits fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 and on fire for d6 next round
Skipper Daytripper |
A creature with this special quality ignores damage from most weapons and natural attacks. Wounds heal immediately, or the weapon bounces off harmlessly (in either case, the opponent knows the attack was ineffective). The creature takes normal damage from energy attacks (even nonmagical ones)...
You'd need hardness, not DR, to interfere with fire damage.
Seeing that the tide of battle seems to be turning, Skipper beams and steps after Roary. "Don't worry, big guy-- I'm ready if you get hurt!"
Contingent readied healing: CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Logain Xanatus |
Thinking he might have a better shot with his reach weapon due to the grease Logain advances, pulls out his lucerne hammer and casts a shocking grasp on it to deliver it on the creature.
attack: 1d20 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 3 = 30
confirm: 1d20 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 3 = 25
dmg: 1d12 + 4 + 4d6 ⇒ (9) + 4 + (3, 5, 5, 6) = 32
confirmed dmg: 1d12 + 4 + 4d6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + (2, 4, 2, 3) = 18
get a +3 since it is wearing a metal weapon
Skipper Daytripper |
I'm assuming that means combat over. Disregard this post if that is not a correct reading. :P
"Well! That went well. Past the initial hiccups. Roary, Logain, nicely struck," Skipper chirps. "Nobody's still hurt at all, right?"
The halfling makes his way into the room, climbing over the rubble of the destroyed guardians. He picks his way towards the Aspis agent corpses, cautiously.
Morrolan de'Morcaine |
HP: 26 of 35
Morrolan is still down by 9 unless you channeled a second time and I missed it.
.
Morrolan gives the statue that sliced him up another whack just for the hell of it. I wonder how long these have been here? Then he again uses his powers to check out the rubble and bodies before approaching them too closely.

Jakarno |
Kiklit halts his spellcasting and rolls his scroll back up as the last statue falls. He lets the others look the bodies over as he sneaks towards the curtain, sweeping it with Detect Magic before approaching and listening.
Stealth 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Gabriel Arken |
Letting out a breath of relief, Gabriel pauses a moment to recall grease using another pearl of power.
Cautiously stepping into the room, he glances warily at the other statues as he makes his way toward the curtain.

Logain Xanatus |
"Thank you. They are quite annoying with what seems to have been a haste effect. I guess that is what killed those aspis."
-Posted with Wayfinder
Skipper Daytripper |
Absently, Skipper flicks his wrist and drops something that looks rather like an over-sized peppermint stick into his hand. He pokes at Morrolan's injuries with it even as he nudges the babau corpse with a foot.
"Or it could have been this that killed them."
CLW charge on Morrolan: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Navaeh |
What the hell is going on here? A tall man in dingy full plate with a greatsword strapped to this back is standing in the doorway. Through the dirt and scars you can see a hint of celestial features. Marcos, sent me in, said you might need backup. His tone is lazy with a hint of resentment mixed in.
Skipper Daytripper |
Skipper looks over his shoulder at the new arrival. "Hello!" chirps the brightly-dressed halfling. "Raiding Aspis base that's also probably an evil temple to a horrible demon lady. We just dealt with some statues! I'm Skipper Daytripper, certified layperson ambassador of the Empyreal Lord Sinashakti, patronlordofjourneysmessengerstraveldiscoveryandnewlands--" Skipper's voice speeds up as if trying to get everything out before someone can interrupt him. Then he takes a breath. "And this is everyone else! --hm, where'd Mr. Arken go...."
Roary Flamebearer |
The large ulfen nods.. "Roary Flamebearer, wet met.. Nice to have you along."
Logain Xanatus |
"We were just destroying some crazy (trippin') statues. The name is Logain. Welcome to this endeavor. I'm sure your skills will be a welcome addition."
Morrolan de'Morcaine |
Humph. Just like that Markos to send assistance about 5 minutes late. grumble grumble...
.
Not rushing you, but we will want the results of searching the room before proceeding.
Jakarno |
The man dressed as an Aspis guard nods to the newcomer from where he is standing by the curtain before returning his attention to trying to hear if there is anything beyond.
Navaeh |
The tall man seems to stop listening to the halfling about half way through his ramblings. Moving into the room he barely acknowledges Roary or Logain's greetings. Whatever. he says with the same tone as before. Whats with that guy? he asks nodding at the Aspis guard.
Logain Xanatus |
Logain dryly replies
"Whatever"
Before moving ahead and studying the corpses of the demon and the dead Aspis. He casts detect magic to see if there are any items among them that might be of value.
slin2678 |
Alright! Everyone ready to proceed?
The worn curtain on the far end of the room portrays an epic battle between a giant scorpion on the north half and a blue, viper-sphinx on the south. Between the two, a pregnant jackal-headed woman with three eyes hovers above.
Everyone who looks at the curtain give me a Knowledge (planes) check each for the scorpian and sphinx and a Knowledge (planes or religion) check for the jackal-headed woman. Does anyone have a language not listed in their character page?
Those searching the room do not find anything of value either in the room or on the dead Aspis agents.
Navaeh |
Nevaeh draws his sword and moves to the head of the group. Homey The paladin says sarcastically to no one in particular.

You don't know what the scorpion or sphinx represent. However, you speak Abyssal so you are able read the phrase embroidered around the curtain's edges, repeating several times. It says:
"The matriarch with stolen seeds,
Monstrous sisters blasphemy breeds,
Born of the same womb, yet different stud,
Above me is the Mother, below me impure blood."

"Ugh, that doesn't sound nice at all," Skipper says in response to Logain's reading-aloud of the inscription. He picks his way after the bigger people.
To their new member, he says brightly, "That's Jakarno! He's disguised as One of the Enemy. It's all very clever, if you ask me. What was your name? I must have missed it..."
Skipper resumes his position in the back-middle of the marching order. He's happy to let the big people go first, not being a terribly durable person like they are. But he'll heal you when you get hurt!
