Awww...come on, what could possibly go wrong?

Let me know when you guys decide to report back to Captain Benarry.

"Orb's what we're looking for -- see the line-up of these particular gems along this axis? Looks kind of like a bunch of folks going somewhere? Orders were to go no lower than necessary to get it, Document the place and any insights, right? Might not hurt to drop by the Lord-in-Residence and ask him questions about who he is, how he came to be here, what un-life is like here when they don't have folks dropping in unannounced, and what he does to keep from going completely nuts. But that's just an idea. Don't forget to note what happened in the hungry room, but let's head back topside? Oh, hey. Is this thing, y'know, magical?"

He'll hold up the metal maraca for someone who has the eyes for it to look at.

Aldur blinks in shock. This is more words than Gibbs has ever spoken at once, by orders of magnitude. "Loquaciousness must be a side effect of the orb."

Scoured Stars Map

Aldur, you note that the door appears to be magically sealed. There are no traps, but neither is there an apparent way to remove the spell locking the door. You add this detail to your notes.

So...anything else you want to do here? Or back to Captain Benarry?

Gibbs hands the orb over to Aldur and takes a lot of notes, draws some pictures, etc.

"We need a name." The tengu points in the direction of the 'boss' chamber.

Instructions were Explore the place, document, and get Orb which they suspect can fiddle with the Spires. I think we're good here, unless someone else has anything? Important note: We weren't told to *clear out the place*. While the chest that was in Lord Deathly's room was all shiny, it's probably unlikely that he'd just let that kind of thing go... or would he with a guaranteed flow of fresh meat? Arranging THAT might be above our paygrade, but starting the process?

Frustrating thing with Season Six: The 'secondary' success conditions are 'ninja conditions' that are often counter-intuitive...

I shake my head at the notion of another audience with the creature.

You know, if we got what we came for, then I say lets get out of this place. We are on a schedule, and the last thing we need to do is risk getting delayed and being stuck with a bunch of undead, or whatever they are cannibals and ending up on their menu.

Looking at everyone with arms crossed, I I nod my head over to the exit/exfilatration route back to the ship.

The tengu will go to the 'throne room' and just poke his head in.

"So we got it right, you got a name?"

Provided the response isn't *MASS O GHOUL ATTACK*, once the information is provided Gibbs will be ready to head on out...

"Name's Rajhan-Vol. Now don't forget that the next time your gang sends people here to bring similar tributes," the creature says between mouthfuls. He seems to be in a good mood for now. I really hope they don't look at Zykon as a form of "yard bird" and have him over for dinner. Waiting for the Tengu's return, I keep my hand on the grip of my blade, waiting for his retunr.

Zykon makes it back to your group without incident.

I think by now, everyone's had a chance to post if they wanted to do anything else. I was mainly thinking faction journal card things, and whether any of you had a change of heart about Rajhan-Vol. If no one's inclined to fight him and there's nothing left to do for faction journal cards, there's nothing else really left to do here.

If nothing new happens, I will wrap up within the next 24 hours.

Alright, Zykon is back...lets catch that ship.

Scoured Stars Map

Satisfied that you have completed your objective here, you leave the Spire and row back to where the Grinning Pixie had weighed anchor.

However, the Grinning Pixie is nowhere to be seen.

You spend the rest of your days adrift at sea before hunger consumes you... Raman eats Zykon, Boom bombs and eats Titus, Aldur reveals the sharp teeth he has under his mask and bites Raman to death (and eats him), and finally Titus and Aldur have a final showdown that breaks the boat apart and dumps them into shark-infested waters where they are eaten.

After a few hours of panicked rowing, you do eventually find the Grinning Pixie, and signal to it with great relief. Once on board, you give your report to Calisro Benarry. She scans your report with great interest before addressing you.

“Pathfinders, you have done a great service for me and the Society. The recovery of the Orb of Stars paves the way for future expeditions. Soon, perhaps, we’ll learn more about the Gloomspires’ mysterious creators, unravel their arcane secrets, and perhaps even delve deeper into old Sevenfingers’s tomb to liberate his ill-gotten wealth. Considering what you’ve seen, you’re all now among the foremost authorities on the Gloomspires. I hope that I may call upon all of you again should the Society decide to fund another expedition.”

She expresses some concern about Rajhan-Vol, but sighs as she concedes that the Dark Archive faction would be absolutely thrilled to have the chance to converse with him and learn more about the necromantic polyp that you left intact. (You could have destroyed both. No impact on your treasure, but changes the reporting a little. ;))

The ship returns to Drenchport without incident apart from running afoul of a kraken and getting dragged under with no survivors.

Congratulations on completing the scenario! Questionable decisions were made. You could have calmed the savages and parlayed with them to leave them alive, and you could have killed Rajhan-Vol, and destroying the necromantic polyp was entirely optional. No impact on your chronicle, but these decisions may influence how the next scenario set at the tomb of Seven Fingers is written. It will be interesting to see how other tables tackled this scenario. XD

A link to the chronicles will be posted in the discussion thread before the end of the week, so watch that space. Aldur and Raman, roll your day jobs or post that you have none. If I don't see a roll by Sunday, I will assume no day job.

Finally, boon rolls!

GM e-mail wrote:

To win a boon, at the end of each scenario, the GM should, publicly, roll a d20 for each player, and themselves, at the table - all at once.

For example, using the Paizo forums format, you can use the following template:

Boon Rolls:

GM: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Zykon: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Aldur: 1d20 ⇒ 18

Boom: 1d20 ⇒ 2

Titus: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Raman: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Boon of players choice on a natural roll of 1 or 20

**Re-Rolls not allowed on boons**

Rolls in order of appearance on the gameplay thread. Congrats Raman (and me). I'll PM you the boon options.

Awesomeness! Thank you so much for running this!

Does my attempt to recruit Rajhan-Vol count as a check for the Dark Archive faction journal card? I did exceed the listed DC.

For my day job, Craft (Alchemy) plus Crafters Fortune: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 5 = 27

Also, BoomAgh, want to exchange formula books? We can copy whatever the other doesn't have?

Unfortunately, despite being surprisingly calm, collected and courteous for a -redacted-, he is actually not all that knowledgeable. And you did not exactly recruit him into the Dark Archive - all he was really interested in was food and getting you to leave him alone.

But I have asked on the GM thread whether the MacGuffin you retrieved counts as an artifact.

It's done that way to leave the decision process in the hand of the person winning the boon, versus everyone dog-piling on the person to take 'x' boon and suddenly there's forty gazillion of the one boon and none of the others.

At least via this system players get a choice. At GenCon, unless you really hit the 20s (like, multiple times at the rolling table) you don't get to pick, you get something at random.
