Raman: In my previous post I rolled another damage roll. You've taken bite damage twice. The leech does automatic bite damage and blood drain each round it is latched on - nasty! Also, this time I rolled alot better, and remembered to add an extra +1 damage that I didn't before.
Round 2:
Aldur
Thingy (-13)
Boom
Titus (slicing and dicing)
Zykon
Raman (-2STR, -2 CON, -10hp)
Boom fires at a nasty shadow on the water...then realises that it really was just his own shadow on the water. Titus steps up and chops into the leech and Zykon sinks a bolt into the leech, spilling Raman's blood into the stagnant water. Raman manages to wriggle free from the leech, though he is a little wobbly on his feet due to all the blood loss.
Raman, you used your standard action to break free, and can still take a move action if you want.
Round 2, Aldur's turn.

![]() |

Aldur steps up next to the leech, drawing his rapier and lunging towards the mouth of the beast once it's no longer attached to Raman.
Rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Roll to Confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Pretty sure that's a miss.
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

FiddlersGreen |

Ironically, Raman breaking free from the leech also gave it back its dex bonus to AC. If Raman had not broken free, the crit would have confirmed. XD
Aldur stabs the leech, causing even more blood to spill into the water. 1d3 ⇒ 1
The leech decides to go for the meatiest target it can find. (That'd be you, Titus. ;p)
attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
damage roll: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The leech jumps onto Titus, sinks its teeth into the fighter's shoulder and starts sucking. Titus starts to feel just a little woozy. -1 STR and -1 CON from blood loss.
Round 2:
Aldur
Thingy (-20)
Boom
Titus (-6 hp, -1 STR, -1 CON,)
Zykon
Raman (-2STR, -2 CON, -10hp)
Boom, Titus, Zykon and Raman can act in round 2 now, Aldur can act for round 3.

Feeling the creature latch on, I twist and thrust my blade out at its main body/trunk.
LS attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Feeling the blade sink into its flesh, I bite back with steel.
LS damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

![]() |

Zykon starts to line up a shot then shakes his head. There's no way I can hit that thing with that many folks in between me and it. Hope the three of them can get it.
He moves to an active perceptive stance, watching the water for any other attacks, and to the tree area, covering the party.
Perception(Active, 'Overwatch'): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Readied Action (Attack additional hostiles): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 91d8 ⇒ 8

![]() |

no retreat, that thing must die!
Raman uses his flurry of blow attack against the worm.
Fist left: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 1 = 22 Damage: 1d6 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 1 = 3
Fist right: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 1 = 7

FiddlersGreen |

Raman gives the leech a solid punch and Titus drives his sword through the leech. The leech writhes in agony before giving one last shudder. The water is now red with the blood of Raman and Titus.
Zykon watches the water warily for signs of new hostility. He sees plenty - from Titus and Raman towards the leech. But nothing else.
What do you guys want to do now?

![]() |

BoomAhg starts looking around, the tree looks very interesting.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Nature on tree and slug: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Engineering on room size for Gibbs map: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

FiddlersGreen |

Boom doesn't see much on the tree. Nothing much about the slug - it was a particularly tenacious giant leech. The tree is a large banyan tree and its root have penetrated the stone over time.

![]() |

Zykon will hand over his wand to someone what can use it with a bit of a grunt and point to Raman.
After he gets healed he'll begrudgingly point at Titus, then take the wand back, if someone doesn't want to hang onto it for the rest of the run.
They need time to get their gear. They need time to get their gear. Remember you were in their spot at one point, too.
Since the party has handled the leech, he'll take a look at the now-bloody pool for any signs of artifacts (loot).
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17

FiddlersGreen |

Zykon searches around in the pool, but apart from several smaller leeches, there is nothing particularly noteworthy.

FiddlersGreen |

If no one else wants to do anything in this room, I will move us on when half the party posts that they are ready to proceed.

FiddlersGreen |

You could see MANY trees from the outside (remember you found a forest at the top of the spire). But were any trees this big? It is hard to tell.
You can't see much through the cracks on the ceiling here, just little glimpses of dim light and stormy sky in the gaps between the strange "stone" and roots where they have penetrated from above.

![]() |

Well that was a nasty sucker...now, I too feel a bit weak Raman and I hope that wears off. Any healing would be apprciated as well, although the priority goes to Raman.
Looking about the strange flooded out room.
Lets do a quick search around here and then press on. I'll take point, unless we got a scout that can cover down on finding booby traps and trip wires and such.

![]() |

BoomAhg climbs the tree roots looking for a better vantage point to look around from.
Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

FiddlersGreen |

Looks like we're good to go once someone rolls the healing. Who's providing/rolling the healing?

![]() |

BoomAhg Attempts to heal Gibbbs
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d6 ⇒ 5
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d6 ⇒ 2
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d6 ⇒ 1
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 131d6 ⇒ 4
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d6 ⇒ 4
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 161d6 ⇒ 1
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 201d6 ⇒ 2
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d6 ⇒ 2
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d6 ⇒ 5
Healing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d6 ⇒ 2

FiddlersGreen |

Ah, ok, I was confused by the 1d6. CLW is 1d8+1. Guess we need to wait on Aldur to roll the heals before we move on.

![]() |

Sorry all, I spent most of the last 24 hours doubled up with stomach cramps. I'm back to full health, though!
Taking 10 with all healing, using Gibbs wand. I'll use my wand for the next round.
Raman
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Titus
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

![]() |

I was confused because Zykon hadn't taken damage from that fight and had already been healed by Aldur after Ramen noodled him.
Also, Boom? Keep an eye on health when rolling a device with charges, you may not need to roll as many if the dice get hot.
Glad to hear you're feeling better, Aldur.

FiddlersGreen |

After healing up and searching the flooded room as best you can, you wade through the flooded room to the chamber beyond, where yet another door awaits you. After spending 326 years debating who should open the door, Aroden finally returns! After awhile, one of you decides to open the door, which leads to a large hall beyond.
This cathedral-like hall has a vaulted ceiling supported by eight square pillars. Dominating the middle of the hall is a huge mound of undulating gray-green flesh covered with weeping scarlet boils. The entire mass stinks of a weeks-old corpse.
The ceiling is 20 feet high near the walls and rises to 30 feet at the apex. The mass of flesh is roughly 20 feet in diameter and 10 feet tall, and it bears hundreds of jagged, poorly-healed scars.
To the west is a passage completely choked with rubble and further North along the same wall is a door. There are several scratched symbols on the wall between the door and the choked passage.
Finally, clustered around the polyp, gluttonously feeding on its putrid flesh are 6 hunched-over figures. They do not react to Titus opening the door, and in fact may not have even noticed you yet.

![]() |

Aldur unlimbers his bow and nocks an arrow, but looks to Raman before he fires. "You've been in their place," he whispers. "If you were lost in that haze, would you have preferred death?"

![]() |

By the way when I gm UMD checks can never be take 10's due to a failure roll, not trying to me a smart arse but letting you know it shouldn't be an option...

FiddlersGreen |

You can take 10 as long as you can take your time and there are no distractions, like combat.
You can take 20 as long as there is no penalty for failure.
I think you're confusing those 2. He can take 10, but he can't take 20. If he was is combat, THEN he couldn't take 10.
So then, what are you guys going to do? Will you attack the poor pitiful ones before you?

![]() |

Looking back at my peers I swallow the bile that rushed up in my throat.
OK ...we got a problem
Gripping my blade.
so we got these flesh eating things....anyone got a mass effective spell, bomb, Greek Fire for something like that?

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

True on take 10, except UMD states that you can not take 10 on it.
Go to Paizo Inc..

FiddlersGreen |

Ah, good catch. I had not realised that before. Will remember it for next time, but I'll let it pass this time.
So you are standing at the doorway, and the hunched-over figures are eating away. Is the plan to talk? Attack? Join them in their feast?
If you want to attack, post an action for the surprise round and I'll roll the initiatives.
But you all know you really want to join in, right? ;)

FiddlersGreen |

So you guys are just walking into the room? Ok then.
The party enters the room, making no apparent effort to hide their presence. One of the figures takes a sideways glance at you between bites, but keeps gorging itself. You catch a glimpse of a face of rotting flesh and sunken eyes.
Aren't you going to offer them food, aid, anything?

![]() |

BoomAhg Chucks a bomb into the midst of them, aiming at the centralized one.
Bomb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10and fire

![]() |

Aldur sighs heavily. "Hindsight is 20/20, but I should have brought manacles." He fires an arrow at the center creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Woo!
Roll to confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Less woo!
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

![]() |

Hey, last time we found FRIENDS like this I got isolated out...lets all back up and kill them one at a time as they come through the door here.
Not waiting I back up hopefully pushing the part back enough so that we can chop, clobber and burn them one at a time as they go through the doorway.
I will delay my actions until one gets in reach for me to swing at them.
LS attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
LS damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
I will use the cleave feat if there is more than one that somehow gets in the range of my blade. Assuming I hit next time, as I doubt I hit the broadside of a barn this round.

FiddlersGreen |

Titus directs the party to withdraw, but Boom and Aldur take parting shots before moving. The bomb explodes amidst the creatures and they growl savagely as they turn on you. One of them walks right up to where Titus is waiting, but Titus misses his attack.
G2's reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
G4's reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Zykon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Aldur: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Boomahg: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Titus: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Raman: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
creatures: 1 = 1
At this distance, you can tell that whatever these things once were, they are no longer human (or humanoid).
Initiative order:
Raman
Aldur
Zykon
Titus
Boom
Creatures
All of you go before the creatures. Take note of where you are on the map.
