As it always happens, from across the globe, or more recently now, even from across the veils into even other planes of existences, you are summoned "home", back to Absalom.
Like so many times before, little to no explanation is given, but that is the way of things with the Pathfinder Society. Information and lore will come, in time. For now, you simply need to be at the right place at the right time.
Venture-Captain Adril Hestram's personal quarters is open as you arrive, save for the few other agents within awaiting the VC. No servants are present, with offerings of food or drink to help break the ice, only the VC's small war room. Multiple maps are half open throughout the room, and both vestments and instruments of battle line nearly every inch of the walls. And yet, there are a few chairs within, if you so choose.
Please take a moment to introduce yourselves and talk a bit before we officially get started.
Heccan Abraxi
|
A slender man with jet black hair and pale skin with intense eyes and a weary if wry grin enters the room. His robes are modest but well made and in the latest fashion, colors lending toward shades of black with scarlet red trim. His grin fades as he looks about the sparse room.
"By the laws! Summoned from a perfectly fine holiday in the Chelish countryside and not a drop of wine to ease my travel. Typical!" Heccan examines the room until, almost if by compulsion, he raps hard on the map table. He speaks loudly,
obviously trying to garner some attention. "See here! Tell your master than Heccan Abraxi, most formerly of the House Abraxi of Egorian, bloodscribe of the lower courts and famed Pathfinder Agent has arcane aficionado has arrived and yes, a bottle of your finest Chelish red would be most appreciated. Especially so if delivered promptly!"
Heccan takes a breath, having let out a great deal of his own and places his hands on his hips, waiting for his call to be heard.
Varian Amari
|
Varian is medium height at 5'11" and of medium build... His skin is a dark bronze color, offset by long fair hair. His eyes are a deep golden brown that spark with a fiery brilliance when he's aroused to ire or passion. He wears a noqual ore chain shirt specially designed to accomodated the large feathery wings on his back. He has six fingers on each hand. He bears a finely made flail and an adamantine great sword on his back between his wings.
He enters moments after Heccan and lofts a brow at the man's abrupt demands. Remaining standing, he waits patiently for the Venture Captain to appear. "Hello Heccan. I am Varian. If things go as usual, we will likely be working together."
Oswin Durnhelm
|
A tall man in freshly burnished armor walks in. He carries a shield emblazoned with Iomedae's sword-and-sunburst holy symbol. He wears a like symbol crafted of fine silver on a chain around his neck.
He greets the others cordially:
"Hello. Oswin Durnhelm, faithful servant of the Inheritor. I pray that her power will be a strength and shield to us all."
Adsal
|
Adsal Featherhair is a young man, about 5`8`` with maybe 140 pounds. His heritage is obvious, as he has white swanfeathers for hairs, and white orbs for eyes. He dresses usually in white robes of highest craftmanship, embroyeded at the hems with tiny prayers to his goddess Shaelyn, held together with belt of woven strands of golden hair with a beltbuckle showing a stone golem . If on a mission he adds a silken armor in the same colour, with the symbol of the pathfinders cleverly embroided on his left breast and the grand lodge on the other and a buckler of mithral, embossened with the paradise bird of Shaelyn, together with a glaive with a pearly white haft. On his left hip there is a haversack holding his many books and writing utensils. Rarely are his long fineboned hands without the one or the other inkstain, although he wears soft deerskin gloves for protection while adventuring.
His voice is a light tenor and he usually speaks quite agited, no matter to whom he talks.
He is accompanied by Darter, his trusted Familiar and best friend.
If he has vanity, it is his talent for languages.[/Spoiler]
"It is a pleasure to meet you all. My name is Adsal Featherhair, and I serve the Lady of Chrysanthemums. This little beauty on my shoulder is Darter. I know many a spell to aid us in our mission, and the otherwordly are at my command!"

“Rachikan has been discovered!” exclaims Venture-Captain Adril Hestram as he peers up from a collection of ragged maps, dusty tomes, and tarnished coins from behind a massive desk within the Grand Lodge in the heart of Absalom. His excitement quickly fades and Adril gestures toward an elderly man sitting by the hearth. “May I introduce a former Pathfinder and respected friend, Benton Grone. This gentleman has suffered a great loss to bring a grand discovery to us and he has agreed to trade all rights to his claim of locating lost Rachikan in return for locating his missing nephew. Go with him and make haste; he has agreed to guide you to the Pillars of Anferita in Cheliax.”
Seven days at sea end at a view of the Pillars of Anferita bursting from the Chelaxian coastline, waves crashing against their rocky flanks. The central pillar’s curves, flora, and shape are perfectly represented on the discolored Jistka coins Adril sent along with the expedition. As sailors from the hired vessel row toward the central column, a second rowboat in tow, Benton Grone breaks his silence.
“It’s got to be here; the coin says so. Look at the picture on the back: A temple-foundry high atop this pillar awaits to be discovered. If old Rachikan of the Jistka Imperium is inside, then my nephew must reside there as well. Please hurry—find my poor Eldis.”
As the sailors row away from the pillars, taking Benton Grone with them but leaving behind a rowboat to return to the waiting ship, the waves slowly begin to push higher up the rocky harbor, signaling the beginnings of high tide. An unguarded, well-maintained rope stretches up the cliff, beckoning to the plateau high above.

Varian Amari
|
diplo: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
Varian does a little asking around to ferret out information before the boat leaves.
"A member of the Pathfinder society spent several ancient coins from the Jistka Imperium recently in a town called Macini in southwestern Cheliax along the Inner Sea coast. He claimed to have found lost treasure and has since disappeared. That doesn't sound good at all... Perhaps the snakes abducted him to learn what they could of his find?"
"I also heard that recently, large purchases of mining equipment have been shipped from several cities in Cheliax to the Pillars of Anferita and a beautiful woman made a large purchase of slaves from a desert slaver near the Arch of Aroden—she indicated they were heading to a dig site in the Pillars of Anferita... A feared and respected man named Haliduris Karn is the man behind the recent slave and mining equipment purchases and it’s rumored that the Aspis Consortium funds his every move. Sounds like the Snakes are indeed behind whatever is going on, and a large excavation could mean they have found this site. Simple mining is not their way of doing business."
Rilas
|
A man enters the room, well built and young, but his face shows the wear on many battles. He wears a set of exquisite kikko armor, much like the samurais of Tien prefer. Multiple quivers with various arrows hang off of him as well as a well maintained, and very large, bow. He goes around the room, shaking everyone's hand and introducing himself. "Hello, I'm Rilas. I'm glad to see such experienced Pathfinders gathered here today. I have no doubt we will succeed at whatever the mission is. And this here is Winston. He may look fierce but I assure you he is a gentle giant. Most of the time." His attitude is gentle, yet straight to the point and business like. He turns and looks behind him but realizes nobody is there. Just then, he lets out an ear piercing whistle and a ball of muscle and fur tries to squeeze it's way through the door.
"Wait, are we really going on a mission based on a picture on a coin? And who is Rachikan? Any idea what we can expect to find at this temple?"
Heccan Abraxi
|
Heccan's mood lightens when Varian enters the room, almost as if by force. He speaks to the light haired man. "Ah yes, Varian, well met. Do forgive my peevish behavior, was a long trip from Cheliax and I find myself quite parched. I am pleased that it appears the powers that be are at least gathering skilled and able agents." He smiles affably and quirks a brow as Oswin and Adsal. The pale man looks at each then back to Varian. "Oh my. Please do not take this the wrong way gentlemen, but this place is beginning to look like a temple service. Please do not tell me this is Ambrus' way of saying I need more religion in my life. I am sure your services are fine, and gods know you Shelynites know how to throw a party, but I am really not much of a joiner...my presence here notwithstanding." Heccan visibly relaxes upon the arrival of Rilas and opens his mouth to say more when Adril makes his entrance.
The sorcerer listens as the mission parameters are explained. He closes his eyes and laughs to himself. "Ambrus...I swear the man hates me. I was already IN Cheliax. Could have been a much shorter trip. But alas, home again I go."
Heccan does his best to make the trip to Cheliax pleasant for his fellow agents by telling stories and relating anecdotes of his life in Cheliax and with the Society, encouraging others to share similar stories.
Upon landing, Heccan begins to make local inquiries but stops upon hearing the information turned up by Varian.
'Well done Varian, that at least gives us a start. If the Consortium is involved, you can be certain they will bring resources to bear. Best remember that. Well, I believe our best course of action will be to do some looking around in Macini. I must confess I am not familiar with that little hamlet but at lest they should have decent wine. Shall we?"
Adsal
|
Adsal and his companion talk telepathically for a few moments.
Know Hist: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 + 2 = 31
Know Local: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 2 = 17
Adsal ponders a moment or two before answering."I was always interested in investigating the Jistka empire. They were masters of golems, and their pacts with the lower hells made them double dangerous, one could say fiendish. Maybe we should procure golembane scarabs for this endeauvor. Even in this abdomination, I can´t wait to see the wonders and art of this temple!"
Kor'sarro Khan
|
Sorry for the late reply, finally up to date and ready to step in
Better late then never as the Angelic creature steps into the room, wings folding behind him as he makes his entrance, some blood spatters can be seen on the armor before he looks up with a grinning smile. "My apologies for being late, some pirates waylaid my travels and had to be dealt with accordingly..." He let the words linger in the air for a moment before continueing. "I am Knight-Corporal Kor'Sarro Khan, Captain of the Oath of Vengeance, I will be lending my blade to the service of the society and ensure we will all return in one piece..." For those paying attention to the Paladin will notice some of the more obscure symbols of his diety placed on his armor and sword. Listening to the rest of the party he grimaces for a moment and then shrugs. "Take the lead, some of you are more experienced at times in finding out the latest news or information needed for this trip."

two winged aasimars! heh, this is going to be fun!
"Hello Sir Khan... You're most welcome! A follower of Ragathiel I see... We are indeed in good company then. While I've found some proponents of the Vengeance Lord to be a bit grim and quite dedicated, they have all been stalwart companions, to a man, or woman. I look forward to fighting at your side."

The base of the central pillar is a haven for gulls, seals, and other wildlife that chirp and bark in the distance. Salty air assaults the senses, burning the nostrils on each deep inhalation. The wet surface of the pillar offers many nooks and crannies creating a dimpled appearance suitable for climbing up the pillar’s edge. High above, the top of the pillar can be seen cresting to what must be a great plateau. Somewhere up above, a rope, in excellent condition, is anchored and runs
down the cliff to the rocks below.
I just realized I do not have all my prep work anymore without my computer, so I had to throw together a map real fast. :(
Map links are up.
Flight might make this a little easier, but as you get closer the tower, you can easily spot a dangling rope that hangs about halfway down, and while handholds, ledges, and catches make attempting to scale the wall fairly easy.
Scaling the tower is a DC 5 Climb check at this point, but will reduce your speed and also take both hands. Options such as flying or levitation are also an option.
Heccan Abraxi
|
Heccan quirks a brow as Khan arrives. He laughs a bit but shakes his head, though he seems a bit uneasy.
"Welcome aboard master Khan. By the laws, I wonder who minds the heavens these days. Seems all of their angels walk Golarion of late."
Kor'sarro Khan
|
Turning his head to Varian for a moment he grinned for a moment "I am sure that some of the Chellaxian navy despise me being around or roaming the oceans to sink their slave trading ships... They don't seem to share my love to allow everyone their freedom..." Turning his head to Heccan he gave the man just a wink and a smile "Heaven is well guarded last I heard... Something to do with Ragathiel defending the slopes towards heaven and denying those sieging it entry..."
With that said his head glanced up towards the tower and then his companions. "I doubt some of you have the means of flight, but seeing the predicament we are in I vote to walk or climb upwards for those without flying capabilities while some of us follow suit in the air, unless people are sure they won't make the climb upwards?"
Heccan Abraxi
|
Heccan looks around at his many winged companions and smirks a bit. "Well, I am certainly the last person you would find in a choir of angels, but I can manage to keep up with you winged people. My abilities allow me such things, though limited to rising to the sky in more or less a straight line. I am ready to join the flock."
Rilas
|
As they get to the base of the pillar, Rilas stares up at it before looking back at Winston. "Sorry, boy, I know you don't like when I do this but seems we have no choice for now." He pulls a scroll out of his pack and whispers some incantations before placing his hand on his trusty companion. The wolf begins to shrink down to a small statuette, before picking it up and placing it safely in his haversack. Using his scroll of Carry Companion
The ranger then takes a small vial out from the same haversack, and chuggs it down. "Up we go then. He walks straight for the tower, then proceeds to keep walking, right up the side. Potion of Spider Climb
Varian Amari
|
Varian just spreads his sparkling white feathered wings and flies up, reveling in the freedom of flight.
Oswin Durnhelm
|
Sorry for dropping off over the weekend.
Oswin appraises the party, choosing to say little at present. He appears a bit uncomfortable around his angel-blooded allies.
As the group begins to ascend, he casts a spell and tries to keep up.
I'll cast Air Walk, and hope that I can climb the "air stairs" fast enough.

As the party, through various means begins to make their way up, suddenly, flaming arrows begin to rain down upon you. Looking up, you see a pair of feminine figures standing upon the tower, each wields a flaming Longbow. Oh, and each, much like half your party, has wings. Oddly, theirs also appear to be somewhat angelic in nature, though, even from this distance, it's clear that there is something dark and corrupt about their dark greyish dove-like wings.

There are only two, and you can only hit one with Glitterdust. Which one?
Rilas' arrow hits it's target, barely, and clearly burns the angel's flesh as it enters, causing her to scream in in pain before she plucks it out. Adsal calls on his magic while Oswin takes the opportunity to move in a bit closer.

I'll go ahead and say the DC to identify them is 5 lower. They are not particularly rare, but nor are they common.

Heccan would have cast his defensive magic if he thought combat was possible, being mage armor, cat's grace and a charge of shield from a wand. If that is acceptable, then Heccan will act normally upon his action. Otherwise, Heccan will begin his defensive casts on his turn.

One them falls short, but she uses it to help take better aim, and it seems the tactic pas off, as the next two arrows strike true, and are very deadly, also burning his mortal flesh similarly to how his holy arrows burned her fiendish flesh.
The other fallen angel, blinded by Adsal's spell, attempts to withdraw back to the ledge, while using her forearm to try to clear her eyes, and vanishing from view.
