Hello all! Igna went on an adventure... to the Lost Colony of Taldor (7-16)

Late afternoon light pours in through the windows of the meeting room in Galt’s Woodsedge Lodge, and the smell of freshly baked pastries wafts in from the kitchen. Venture-Captain Eliza Petulengro sits at the head of a polished mahogany table in front of tall piles of papers. She clears her throat.
"I’m glad to see that all of you made it here safely. My name is Eliza Petulengro. And what are the names of the agents who answered my call today?"
Introduction time ;)

A small lass, even for a Halfling (2'8" - 27 pounds ; 50 cm - 12 kg) with pale skin, emerald eyes and auburn hair, Igna wears studded leather armor under green and brown colored leather and cloth explorer clothes.
A pair of bandoliers cross her chest, with a few flasks in one, and a bundle of tools in the other (files, picks...).
At her belt, a couple pouches with small iron bullets in one, and strange clay-baked ones in the other.
Leaning on her walking stick - which those that know can recognize as a Darkwood Halfling Sling Staff -, she bows to Eiliza Petulengro: "Hello, hello! My name is Igna, Captain, I am with the Grand Lodge, and my belly cries famine...".
She keeps oggling the door where the fine smell seems to come from.
"We are here to help with the pastries... uh, the mission".

Raijan shows up to the meeting dressed in an outfit with colors so clashing you can practically hear them from outside the room.
He's a short, well muscled Tengu who's leaning heavily on a short cane. From his bleary eyes and various stains he looks as though he's had quite a night.
Give me a moment and a biscuit before the briefing. Just tell me Hedmarch isn't involved.

A young, tiny woman enters the room. She is just a bit over 1.55 cm and weights less than 90 pounds. Dressed in a soft green silken kimono and a whiten silken ceremonial armor she smiles to the others. She has raven black hair and green emerald eyes. She is stroking a white hare.
She introduces herself as Xiao Hua.

![]() |

Igna looks up at the woman considering herself tiny, and who is thrice her height and nearly four times her weight: "Greeintgs Xiao Hua, who might your rabbit be? So cute", and Igna warmly greets the others as well.

Eliza listens patiently to your introductions, staring with unnerving intensity at each of as you speak. Once you have concluded your introductions, she smiles warmly.
"As expected. Excellent." Moments later, a wiry man wearing a tailored suit strides into the room. A white porcelain mask covers his face, and he wears a thin red ribbon around his neck. In his gloved hands, he carries a tray of sweet and savory pies, which he sets in the center of the table before quietly slipping away. The venture-captain serves herself a generous slice of pie.
"Mind that you don’t get food on the papers," she says. "They record the information that your fellow agents have been gathering about the ebb and flow of Galtan society. To perform such work properly is, unfortunately, far less interesting than it sounds. I have a more engaging opportunity in mind for you. You’ll be traveling about a hundred miles up the Sellen River to the village of Rosehaven. Rosehaven is the home of Armeline, a savvy information gatherer who was once a reliable contact for the Pathfinder Society.
Twelve years ago, she was accused of espionage against the revolution in connection with some of her past work with the Society. She sent a cry for help the Grand Lodge. It was an exceedingly difficult situation, considering only a few months earlier revolutionaries stormed this very lodge and killed my predecessor and her servants. Following that tragedy, the Decemvirate suspended all operations in Galt. It was a sensible decision — after all, the Decemvirate is not in the business of sending agents on suicide missions — but it seemed a death sentence for Armeline. Whether through luck, guile, or both, Armeline survived. I would like to extend a formal apology to her, and hopefully convince her to consider working with the Society in the future.
We have before us the perfect opportunity. Rosehaven’s upcoming festival culminates in a ceremony of ritual forgiveness, which may encourage her to move past the Society’s unfortunate necessity so many years ago. I’ve arranged for a riverboat to pick you up at dawn. You’ll arrive in Rosehaven in the morning of the first day of the festival."
Eliza frowns, "Oh, and one more thing. I have a hunch, and I learned to trust my hunches years ago. I doubt this mission will be as simple as it seems. Stay alert."
"Any questions?"

![]() |

As Igna makes a move for the pies... she stops, and looks up frowning: "What if, despite this Festival, Armeline does not forgive anything, and even tries to obtain some vengeance... is she powerful? More of a fighter or a mage? How would she go about harming us?".

Are Pathfinders unwelcome, or just our lodges?

"Well, that is a terribly pessimistic way to look at it," the tall, broad shouldered man with a plain face, who introduced himself as Quentin, says. In the polite company, he wears simple traveler's cloths that have seen a fair amount of wear. He leaned his greatsword against the door frame when he entered and set a clanking bundle by the wall.
"However, my experiences in Dawnton showed me that even the people you want to help may try to murder you one way or another."

Just realising the Red Raven would be a good Pregen for this.
"Politics are Politics. What should we do if she refuse?" ask Allie.

"Twelve years are a long time and I hope that the years damped her anger against the Society. She was not an agressive person, but I assume that she's very suspicious of anyone with a connection to the Pathfinder Society. I don't know what she learned in the past twelve years, but I doubt she's a real threat to you. Collecting information was her thing. If she refuses, maybe you can earn her trust in any other way. Even as Pathfinders you should not have any problems in Rosehaven." Petulengro answers the last questions and invites you to enjoy the rest of the evening at Woodsedge Lodge. You have time to purchase any items you would like in Woodsedge before departing.
the next day...
The riverboat that meets you at dawn is a large rowboat with a crew of four experienced sailors. It moves slowly but steadily up the Sellen River, arriving in Rosehaven after 10 days of travel.
The village’s only dock doubles as a shop selling fresh wares to passing ships. As Venture-Captain Petulengro predicted, you arrive just before the festival.

Igna disembarks, and looks around, to see what the village looks like from the docks, and if there are many ships docked at the moment - to see how many out of towners are at the festival... and if anything looks odd.

"Maybe we can have some fun while we're here, too," Quentin says hopefully. He swings the sheathed blade up onto his shoulder casually in a move that belies its weight.

![]() |

"I sure hope so, Quentin, my friend!"', says Igna. "And they might have nice foods. Special fare. Regional delicacies!".

"I think that I heard that Galt has no regional delicacies," Quentin says with a chuckle. "The cooks are too busy trying to assassinate one another."

While Igna' and Argor look around, they don't spot anything amiss, Kaminari and Xiao Hua listen to passing people. They hear that the festival is about to start in an hour at the town's square. To get there you just need to follow the majority of the crowd.
There's just on other ship currently docked. A cargo ship from Tian Xia.
I linked the map above the campaign tabs.

"Let us get to the festival and watch it. We might get a feeling for the mood here!" the young woman adds.

Trudging along with Halfling staff in hand, Igna marches up to the edge of the square: "Hello all! I am Igna, come to enjoy this Festival! What local fare is there to eat?!"

![]() |

And to drink!

![]() |

Quentin chuckles at the halfling's exuberance. "It looks safe enough. No shifty-eyed murderers with a grudge against the Society that I can see."

![]() |

The plain looking soldier from Ustalav continues to follow along with the crowd, heading for the festival proper. "Who do you suppose might know Armeline," he asks his companions, "The mayor? Whoever owns the general store?"

![]() |

Igna sighs, thinking that the people here do not know how to party very well: "It is rather dull, not much happening".

In the hour after you arrive, the village square slowly fills with people. The villagers arrange hay bales around the well and set pumpkins atop the bales for carving. Children eagerly run and play around the square, occasionally asking nearby adults how much longer they have to wait.
A priest emerges from the temple of Shelyn to call an official start to the festival. He calls upon everyone to join hands and offer prayers to Shelyn, the Eternal Rose, thanking her for the blessings that she has granted the people of Rosehaven over the last year, and dedicating the gourd art that they are about to produce to her. Looking to the children, he says "There is to be no teasing each other or bragging about being better at carving, as all art is equally blessed in the eyes of Shelyn. Remember that!"
After his short invocation, he approaches you.
"Welcome, travelers! You have picked an excellent day to visit Rosehaven. We’re celebrating Mercylight. As you just heard, this festival is dedicated to the grace of Shelyn, but you don’t have to worship Shelyn to participate. Go ahead, grab a pumpkin or two, and carve whatever you wish. There are plenty more in the fields, so don’t be shy!" he says with a smile.

Igna giggles claps her hands, grabs the tools at hand, and starts carving...

...but she does not care if her pumpkin has two noses and one tiny eye.
No, she mainly tries to have fun with the kids, hiding their spoons and pulling them out from their ears and such.

30 minutes later he has created quite a stir as he smashes his 5th attempt to flinders with his walking staff...

Igna is very interested in Raijan's walking staff.
She asks to look it over, and shows him her own walking staff... which is finely crafted, and made out of darkwood. It also has a leather strap for the hand.
"'Tis my slingstaff...".

As the pumpkin carving progresses, the pumpkin supply runs low, and a group of villagers heads out to the fields of the local druid Elm to collect a new batch of pumpkins. When they return with the gourds, one of them runs over to the priest, pulls him to the side and whispers something in the his ear and he bows his head.
Soon thereafter, the priest approaches you and tells you that something terrible has happened. "You look like a brave sort that is comfortable facing grisly situations. Somebody got murdered. Would you go with the constable to a nearby farm and investigate in the crime?"

"A constable? I am going to be deputy constable?!", Igna thinks, before shuddering: "A crime?!... of course we can help!".

Craft (Pumpkin Carving): 1d20 ⇒ 9
Quentin finishes his lop-sided, jagged-edged, stringy attempt at carving a stylized face in the pumpkin. He looks over at some of the children's work and then back at his and blushes.
He turns around as the priest approaches them and listens. "Another small town murder? And I was starting to enjoy myself," he laments with a sigh. "But of course I will go."
He wipes off the pumpkin guts on a rag and grabs his greatsword as he stands. "Who was killed?"
