The group makes their way down the narrow tunnel. It stops at a stone door that is ajar. Opening the door taking a little more effort then typically required, but the motion is remarkably smooth for a stone door.
Carved pillars in the corners of this chamber hold aloft a double-vaulted ceiling of cracked frescos. On either side of the chamber, a single step leads up into a deeply recessed area that forms an arched room of its own.
1d24 ⇒ 13
Near the center of the room there is a hulking creature shuffling about. This walking corpse wears only a few soiled rags, its fur & flesh rotting off its bones as it stumbles around. The creature raises a spiked morning star, its tiny, milk-white eyes turn in the party's direction. Black ichor pours forth from its toothy maw while muttering a congested syllable, "Brrrraaaiiinnnsssss"

Owai moves up the corridor and draws a small packet out of a pouch at his belt. Holding his hand palm up with the packet in the centre, he whispers a small phrase, whereupon the packet evaporates in a puff of glowing blue mist. As this occurs, a faintly pearlescent puddle of slick liquid materializes beneath the creature's feet.

Drawing his short sword, Haraldir being encumbered by all the equipment he was carrying enters the room behind Omrax, hoping to circle around the now prone creauture.
The bloody thing refuses to load the map from my iPad, so I can not tell you exactly where I stand, but being encumbered I suspect I can not reach the monster in this turn. Can I Aid another as Luislia?

Omrax moves up cuts a long swath across the creatures back.
Haraldir draws his shortsword and circles the group (L7). He gets himself into position to strike next round. (double move, unable to do Aid Another)

Filios takes the openning and moves into flank with Haraldir. With a clear shot he nearly dismembers the creature.
Owai jumps into position with his scimitar, but is unable to get through the thick layers of rotting flesh that holds the creature together.

Finally on my laptop, so I can see the map :-)
Seeing that Filios has already circled to have the monstrous creature caught up in between them, Haraldir swings at the prone critter, hoping to help his friends end the fight quickly.

“H, just do what you think is best ... I know you will.”
GM Neb. I have re-read the Reach Weapon and Soft Cover rules, and it seems soft cover penalties do NOT apply to Reach melee combat … is that correct?

![]() |

Sneak Attack Damage doesn't double with crit, but anyways . . .
Filios slices through the bugbear zombie's skull, cleaving it in twane. The undead instantly goes limp. A faint voice can be heard deep in the back of the Pathfinder's minds of the Master of Blades giving a through tongue lashing for the last round of attacks =v).
With the threat removed, the party can get a better view of the room. There is a single exiting hallway. On the floor of the east recess, the perfectly preserved body of a young boy lies in a puddle and stares silently upward. He looks strangly familar.

![]() |

Ezrek finishes peering at the boy and straightens up. Odd that he isn't decomposing. What do you think we can do for him? Luisila this more in your realm.

![]() |

Owai gives Omrax a knowing look and moves over to examine the body. With an unhappy expression, he checks the boy's pockets. "Perhaps there is something to identify him." he observes. He then frowns. "No doubt his family will want to bury him properly. Does anyone know why he is so well preserved? It does not seem normal considering the conditions and the time since the disaster. Perhaps these catacombs have some kind of lingering magic attached to them?" he muses, then casts a spell.
Detect Magic. Sweep the whole room and the body.
"Regardless, can we move him out of that puddle?" he adds.

![]() |

I am not salty. I'm spicy like a chili! whips out his castanets starts playing with a lil Rumba.
Owai searches the boy. Rolling him over he is able to find a dairy shaped book. Neither Owai pat down or Filios nudge appears to affect the young boy.
Sweeping the room with Detect Magic, Owai discovers a ring among some rubble. It appears to be made of copper feathers laced together.

![]() |

"It appears to bear an enchantment to protect one from falling." he says, holding it up. He hands it to Ezrek to examine while he opens the diary to see if he can decipher it.

![]() |

“Don’t kick him, Filios. This is someone’s son … just like you are.”
“Ezrek, feel free to help me if you like.”
Luisila will approach the boy, from the angle of his feet, so as not to ‘startle’ him. She doesn’t care if it looks odd to the others … she is not sure if he is dead, unconscious or in some kind of stasis.
Do I recognise his features from the party?
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
She kneels down and holds his hand while keeping up some gentle, friendly prattle while examining him to try to determine his condition, why he is so well preserved and what caused his condition.
Hmm ... That arm in the Black Water above was also well preserved.
“Hello, my name is Luisila. I am going to try to help you if you’ll let me. What is your name? Does it hurt anywhere? Have you lost your nanny or mother? We might be able to help you find them …”
Heal – will use a ‘charge’ from my Healing Kit: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22

![]() |

Luisila kneels down by the boy, but she is unable to place his face. The boy does not respond to caring Luisila's touch. He feels cold and lifeless. His stare blank and empty.

![]() |

Sweet, merciful Calistria … What have we gotten ourselves into down here?
Luisila will mutter a short prayer over the boy and attempt to close his eyes. She then looks up to the others with some concern on her face.
“The boy is dead. I can’t work out what is keeping his body so well-preserved – whether it’s the Black Water or something else … I simply can’t tell.”
“What I CAN tell you is his soul has been sucked from his body.” Ability score drain.
“By what, I don’t know. I also can’t tell if he was violated via a mental or physical characteristic.”
“This is pure speculation now. We’re in a necropolis, so I’m thinking undead ... We’ve done OK so far, but I think we need to bring our A-game now. Whatever did this is no doubt nasty, evil and still around …”
“Is the meat puppet’s morning star of any use?”
While waiting for the others to respond and work the room, she will move to monitor the east door, hopefully to prevent anything from surprising the party …
Take 10 Perception: (10) + 5 => 15

![]() |

Omrax will nod back to Owai.
"Lady Luisila, odd, it sounds like something besides an earthquake took him. If the family can be found it may be wise to return him for burial. I will carry him out on our return...unless you recommend otherwise. For now there may be other undead we need to dispatch, like the last one back there."

![]() |

Owai slips the diary into his pack before giving the room one last look. "Yes, let us return later to retrieve the boy." he says, nodding to Omrax. "I am ready to carry on, if you all are."
