I always hate it when a player at my table dies! The first time it happened I had my character make a memorial statue for the other player's character and we had a ceremony (in game) to erect the statue in the city we were fighting for when the PC died. Our game is still continuing and we sometimes go back to that city. When we do the GM mentions the statue, so it is a bit nice.

Ajaline watches with growing dread as Selethe appears to succumb to the attackers. Her body falls limply to the ground and she doesn't move. From his location he can't tell the extent of her injuries but it doesn't look good. His anger rises quickly and his face flushes with the fury of injustice. He pulls back an arrow on his shortbow and aims at the new harpy that is flying up in the distance. The flying monster is slightly out of reach but that doesn't hold his hand.

...and manages to just barely avoid the brunt of the collision.

Undeterred by the glancing blow, Jula resets her stance, draws her bow once again, and fires another arrow up at the remaining harpy.

Now that her fail safe is gone, Yanda is not too keen on resuming the climb. That and the fact that she is a likely target and unable to use her dexterity to best effect prompts her to descend. She will use her inspire trait for the first 5'.

Chyrone, can I color spray three dimensionally without hitting Ajaline?


Good question, yet i don't think you could exclude him.
If you're going 3d with a spell, the cone would go 3d too.
I'm no mathematician, but that would seem to get you guys seeing a 15ft x 15 ft cone of sparkly colors, risking Ajaline to be encompassed in the blast.

:) Right, it was the movement I was concerned about. I wasn't sure if I was moving through a threatened square or not, but I felt as if I was. I have limited options for this fight with all of us so close together - serves me right for only choosing to prepare cone spells today.

I think Jula's options are straight-forward.

If she can reach it and smack it with her greatsword:

  • Move to the thing and smack it with her greatsword. +5/2d6+6. +1/+1 if her freebooter's bane was previously activated on mom harpy.

    If she can not reach it and smack it with her greatsword then:

  • Do do her Freebooter's Bane thingie to give all of us +1/+1 and then shoot with her short bow +5/1d6+1.

    Jula hurls herself at the Harpy, timing her swing to strike to occur during a downsweep. Her bow left on the ground, dropped in her excitement and the urgency to reach the harpy before it flew out of reach.


    The harpy takes some heavy punishment from that attack, and screeches in displeasure.

    But with Selethe having stabilized, she's safe.

    Crap. She lets go and falls on purpose accepting the 2d6 damage and attempting an acrobatics roll to alleviate the damage...

    It's slightly worse, actually.
    Failing a climb check by 5 or more results in immediately falling.
    Acrobatics can be used during a deliberate fall, what happens from a failed climbing is involuntarily falling down.

    Yanda tries to climb faster than she did earlier, wanting to join some harpy slaying.
    As she lowers herself, her one hand holding on slips, and she falls down, taking 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 damage, lying on the floor somewhat bruised, but otherwise fine.

    I thought the Withdraw action would avoid the AoO.

    Seeing that the harpy is not going to leave him along, Ajaline drops his bow and pulls out his quarterstaff. He takes a swing at the flying enemy, hoping to knock it out of the sky.

    With Selethe healing, Erlathan again raises his wand at the harpy and lobs a magic missile at her. "Don't worry, you'll soon be joining your daughter, and then we'll all be happy!"

    You're right. I even removed it from my active conditions previously but managed to forget.

    What does infernal healing do for Ajaline? I think it means healing 1 hp/round for 1 minute -- 10 rounds. So that would be 10hp of healing. Is that right?

    "Ok, before we do anything I need to heal up." Ajaline pulls out his cure light wounds wand and tries it on himself. It's almost a miracle when the wand sparks to life and healing power flows out of it into the sorcerer. After the first successful attempt he tries again but it takes him a few tries to get it to work. Finally, he heals himself.
