Kyra mutters softly... "I'm not really equipped for this sort of mission, either in gear or temperament... but I'll do the best I can not to give away your plans during their implementation."

Fade looks directly at Kyra. "Look gorgeous, I hate to break it to ya, but that's the life of the open road. You wander where we do, and sometimes all you can do is make the best of it. You'll do fine. Besides, you've been a great help so far.", he says with genuine feeling.

Then, as if suddenly concerned he adds, "If you tell anyone I said that, I'll probably deny it."

Reaver's Roar

@Roderick: you are not currently talking to her. She gave you leave to go look at Lofton, theoretically under the supervision of the guard who ran off to find the keys. As far as you know, there are no guards watching you. There are two outside, one in the gatehouse at the entrance, the officer in her office, and the guard looking for keys in the cafeteria. The cellblock, hallway, and exercise yard are all currently unobserved to the best of your knowledge.

There are 3 other prisoners. They are all currently asleep as it is the middle of the night, and they don't have impending executions to keep them up all night like Venza.

@DM - thanks. Actually Roderick can create infusions...I have never used that feature before.

Psst. Lofton, listen here man. We are sneaking you out. Drink this, it will make you disappear for a time. I am going to tie a piece of string around your wrist to keep you close. Once outside, we will get you back to your alter ego.

Roderick will point to Fade or others to make up a pillows like Lofton is sleeping on his cot/mat.

something I can actually help with... Kyra moves to help with the pillows... Haven't done this since I was a child...it never did work very well then.. but parents have eagle eyes and a sixth sense. I suspect these guards are less vigilant.

Having unlocked the cell door with the pilfered keys, (hopefully) Fade does as instructed,, fluffing pillows and the like to make it look like Lofton is sleeping.

On the way out, he jams the locks to the cafeteria and the office, locking in the one guard and the captain, just in case.

disable device, jam lock office: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31

Xen helps with making a sleeping dummy of Loften, using her disguise kit and skill to make it seem more real.

Disguise: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

She then goes with the group to exit the facility.

Venza happily takes the extract and raises it in the air, as if to toast you. Bottoms up! He swallows the extract in one gulp and disappears.

Meanwhile, Fade runs around and jams all the locks on in the prison and Princess Xen sets up a truly astonishing tableau of of an occupied prison cell. She stands back and takes a moment do appreciate her work. It is perfect, down to the scattered rat droppings in just the right place.

The party then confidently marches out the front of the jail, with a thin, barely perceptible string trailing behind Roderick. The party leaves the jail and heads to meat the Venture Captain in the hall of statues. Along the way, you spot an abandoned building with some vines growing on it, and harvest some for use in the ritual. Upon arriving at the hall of statues, you collect Venza's body, and head to the nearest bridge. Its a small bridge over a modest stream. You wrap the two in vines and toss them over, with Kyra waiting in the water below. Once they hit the water, she cuts the vines. Both people emerge from the water sputtering and gasping for breath. After a moment, Lofton speaks.

Oh thank goodness, after so many years feebleminded, trapped in a different body, it feels wonderful to be home. Thank you Pathfinders for restoring me!

Venza says Couldn't agree with you more Lofton. Lets go get into some dry clothes so I can tell you what I know then get out of this place.

Returning to the hall of statues, Petulengro produces two dry sets of clothes for the two men to change in to. After changing, Venza spills everything he knows.

So the person behind all these abductions is a fellow by the name of Colson Maldris. No idea why he's doing it - but he liked to rant about slavery insidiously poisoning even the halls of freedom or some such nonsense. In addition to the two senators you're looking for, some other prisoners were Halmont Warrith. And I think Madris and the Gardeners were headed to the capital, Isarn. And that's all I know. Welp, I'm out of here. Pleasure meeting you all, hope to never see any of you again.

Just a note for those not super up on all the Pathfinder Lore, but Colson Maldris is the leader of the Liberty's Edge faction. You would all be aware of this as Pathfinders.

I've posted a copy of the chronicle in the combat map if anyone wants to look at it. I'll try to get the chronicles filled out over lunch today. If you have any questions for Lofton, Petulengro, or Venza don't hesitate to ask!

"Colson Maldris?!?" Kali echoes in disbelief - then she throws her head back and laughs before disciplining herself with a sharp tug on her own chains that dig into her arms and legs, and regaining her composure.

"Please, tell us more. Anything at all."

"That old dog!" Fade says, letting out a low chuckle. "I'm impressed. The Major always seemed a bit off to me, but I never would have put him up for this."

He looks around at the serious faces of his group and shakes his head quizzically, shrugging as he says, "What?!"

Thanks for the run! Interesting turn of events too. I suppose there will be a follow up scenario going after Maldris and to rescue the senators. Where do I know Halmont Warrith from? It's so familiar. Season five?

"WHy would Colson do such a thing? We've much more to learn. On a more personal note, I thank you all for your extreme efforts to get us this far. Perhaps we'll meet again for the conclusion of this investigation."

Roderick raises his eyebrow and nearly drops his pipe.

The Major? Seriously? I would have never fathomed.
