"One troll leaving you alone. Check." Fade says with an exaggerated click of his tongue and cheek. Then under his breath he says to Xen, "Getting a troll to leave someone alone pretty well spells it out...bring fire, and burn the body."
"Thanks for understanding Pfeffernusse!" Fade says with a wink and a nod to the little gerbie. "Now tell us where this troll of yours is likely to be so we can get going."
Once the location of the troll is known, Fade starts to leave, pausing only if his group fails to follow.

She gives you some pretty simple instructions on how to find the troll. The party heads out on a troll slaying mission! I'll need two perception checks from each of you (one from Fade as he already made one).

The party sets off down the trail. After a bit, you believe you are nearing the area of the forest where the troll lives. You spot a few mangled deer carcasses, and what you think is a human arm in the undergrowth. Suddenly, you all feel a slight telekinetic tug on your backs. As the party stops, Fade points far in the distance, at a particularly thick copse of trees. Watching for a moment with his instruction, you see some shifting and moving from within the trees. It appears you've located your troll!
You are currently ~180 feet away from the troll (not reflected on the map currently, because there isn't enough space). He does not seem to be aware of you, so you are free to buff or plan. Do note that spellcasting kind of makes a ruckus, so if you want to cast spells and remain unnoticed, you should probably go a few hundred feet more back before doing so (or use the metamagic rod of silence that Respani gave you to use). Link to the map is below my name if you want to see what the terrain looks like. Anything covered in trees is considered difficult terrain.

Kali anoints herself with a potion of armoring, and concentrates to further toughen her flesh.
Mage armor potion and 1 Ki to use my barkskin Qigong Power. No incantations here, either.

GM_Yogadragon |

While the troll is currently unaware of your exact presence, he does seem to be hiding and laying in wait for the party. Fade thinks that he will probably burst out at some point if you get too close. Once you are done buffing and start heading back up the path, how close do you want to get before taking any overtly offensive actions that would tip the troll off?
Basically, if you get too close he'll jump out and start the combat with no surprise round as everyone is aware of each other. If you start lobbing bombs or casting spells at him from far enough away, there will be a surprise round from you guys, as he thinks you are unaware of him and is not expecting you to attack him.
Also feel free to arrange yourselves on the map in whatever order you deem appropriate as you approach.

Fade silently offers potion vials from his stash to the front liners. He leans in to each and whispers, "Shield of faith."
He points to the troll, and then to each of the front liners before making hand gestures of walking briskly. He points to the troll again, and makes to pound his fist into his palm before giving a thumbs up sign and a forced smile to the melee team.
He then takes a very large step back... and waits...
Noticing no one seems in a hurry to engage a troll, he makes a shooing motion with his hand.
He has 3 potions of shield of faith(+2 deflection). I doubt this is the only fight we will get in, but it's a troll so he wants you to have it. Really. ;) Use them or save them, for the rest of the scenario, they are yours.

Kyra charges into combat, and scores a blow against the troll. Rogar rears back and strikes again at the Troll with his massive falcata. The blade connects with the troll's neck, severing bone and sinew, but fails to fully sever the head. The troll's head flops to the side, and you see a malevolent grin cross the troll's face as it prepares to get some revenge for the damage Rogar has inflicted upon it. As it's claws are slashing forward, the party hears a loud crack, like the sound of bone hitting stone, as Fade's telekinetic blast connects with the troll's head and sends it flying twenty feet into the thicket. The troll's body wavers, and then falls, never to rise again.
Combat over!
The party searches the area, and finds little of note. The troll is wearing a magical chain shirt and a magical pair of gauntlets.
There is also an empty vial, which Roderick is able to identify as an expended potion of Protection from Energy.

GM_Yogadragon |

Fiffernetter comes trotting out when you arrive in the clearing.
Oh that is good news! Thank you! And, as we all know the execution of contracts between free peoples is the foundation of any free democracy, so you may take Lofton home. And, as I promised, I will tell you how to switch him back into his correct body. You must find the other person he was switched with, tie them together with vines. Then toss them in a source of pure water before cutting the vines.
And with that, she turns around and scampers back into the forest, leaving you standing in a clearing with Lofton's mind in Venza the Nick's body.
I assume you're heading back into town, but where to exactly?

Oh, any old kind of vines will work. Long grass would probably do the trick. Tree branches. Really anything green and planty.

GM_Yogadragon |

With Lofton in hand, and instructions on how to reverse the mind swap, you head back to the city. It takes several more hours to travel back to the city. When you arrive, it is quite late, around 11 PM. Returning to Lofton's office, there is a notice on the door.
This property is hereby seized by the Grey Gardeners and its owner arrested for crimes against the people of Galt.
The door looks like it has been kicked down and then hastily repaired.
