The cauldron is magic, it has a heat source that keeps its contents on a boil.
"This... This is where I woke up," Valais says. "Thurl. He was standing over me and he said... He said, something to me," but she can't recall what it was.

"AH YES, Valais says in that odd voice. "Thurl stepped up and told me, “It seemed like you wanted to learn what I was up to, Pathfinder. Think of this as the first step in teaching you. Ah, but your growth is not yet done.” Then I remember waking up in the incubation vat."
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly will cast protection from evil upon himself.
Valos, the most dedicated of chefs can really get into their work....don't you agree?"
Dorobo |
Dorobo watches as the other two enter the room. Not seeing them enveloped in fireball trap, he moves up as well.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Seeing the two creatures, Dorobo draws his swords. "Monsters in the vat." Stepping down the stairs out of sight.
Wembly Templeton |
After casting, Wembly and Whiskers will follow beside Valor.
No telling how many, Dorobo...at least a couple.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
You won't be able to follow Wembly, until next round. For clarification the cauldron is hanging from the ceiling, but hangs at the level of the upper floor. The grate goes from the upper floor to the base of the cauldron.
Two imp-like creatures sit up from their bath in the boiling water of the cauldron. The screech in glee at the intruders and both lob a handful of the boiling goo they are in at Galandaro and Wembly.

The rogue swings with a left and a right and manages to cut the creature once. The creature strikes back swiping claws and snapping with teeth filled jaw before stepping back farther into the boiling cauldron.
The second creature lobs another boiling mess, this time at the oread. Then it takes to the air.

I don't know. 25 damage on a bomb is pretty dang nice ;)
The fire has no effect on the creature. It flies in to strike at the oread. It flies in and strikes so swiftly he is unable to respond and it reels back into the air and out of reach.
The second creature steps forward and also slices with its claws at the oread. It is too close to freely flee however and keeps clawing at the cavalier.

Galandaro studies several shelves along the eastern wall and finds they hold a small fortune in esoteric and valuable reagents.
Valor has been wounded.
The two eastern doors lead to what appears to be an office and after efficiently checking them both the party is free to enter. Maps of varying sizes drawn on paper, papyrus, and parchment of dozens of styles cover the walls of this chamber. Most of these bear sketched annotations of some form or another, and bare, rectangular spaces in the cartographic wallpaper attest to maps that have been hastily removed. An enormous parchment map of the Worldwound dominates the east wall above a solidly built wooden desk covered in a haphazard array of books and papers. Scores of charcoal symbols and indicators dot this map, pointing out sites of interest that are named less often than not. A hand-sized statue of a fiend stands on top of the desk.
"That's my people," Valor says and Galandaro & Liana agree that the notes on the maps correspond to sites of dwarven history.
Liana quickly identifies the statue as a glabazru, a powerful demon who specializes in trickery and lies.
The scrolls, notes, letters, ledgers and books however contain the true treasure the Pathfinders seek. Thurl’s books and notes are written in a mix of Abyssal, Common, and Dwarven, and cataloging them in any meaningful way requires ten minutes of reading.
Fill in any specifics you might like to do in this room, it is minimum of ten minutes. :)
The party soon turns up a folio entitled The Grimoire of the Beast, which contains detailed instructions regarding the worship of Baphomet—recognizable as the demon lord of beasts, mazes, and minotaurs. The shrine on the level above, was to Baphomet. Notes stuck in the book’s pages suggest Thurl studied this text in depth, and the researchers note that one section details dozens of hand signs, secret handshakes, and other body language that believers might use to signal to one another their true allegiance. The notes regularly reference someone named Karsos, whom Thurl describes as one might a mentor.
Among Thurl's desk is a magical scroll and two bags of dust that detect as magical. Perhaps the most interesting single thing is a note. (see handout on the map)
Bonus for speaking any of hose languages, so several folks made that check :)
