Oops, looks like other tables beat us to it. We'll continue to the regular encounters after this one then.

Dear all, just an observation that our collective posting rate have dropped quite a bit since the start of this special. Having run and played in previous specials, I know it can require quite a bit of endurance (fort save?) to get through, but I really like to encourage everyone to post as frequently as you can. Even if you do not time for a proper post or to even look through things in details, just a general note of what your character would do and I'll take it from there. While I can and have botted, there is a limit that I would do this for, or otherwise, I'll be playing with myself. :)
As GM Granta, the overseer posted, we have up till 23 Sep for this encounter, for which we can earn up to four successes. We have achieved one so far. The more successes we accumulate now, the more bonuses we'll receive for future encounters, etc. So guys, to infinity and beyond!!! :)

I had a full day event today at work and have something tonight as well. I can get a post in tomorrow, but I probably can't post today. Saturday and Sunday might also be busy as well. Sorry!
If for some reason I haven't posted in time, Angela is going to pull out her longspear and lash out at/threaten the men near her.

![]() |

Don't forget you have a boosted Allied Offensive aid token. Best to keep them circulating.

![]() |

Hmm, if Mr. Cleric hasn't gone down this turn, it might not be a bad idea to use the token on Xantanax's attack.

![]() |

We're cutting it really close but I have confidence you can finish this! Due to their leader being slain, the remaining enemies are easier to take out!
This encounter is taking much longer than I would like and I should I anticipated it. The GM forum is now b~+#+ing about how long this encounter is taking and advising those who haven't started it to avoid it.

![]() |

Does it count as multiple sucesses or just one, because the balance between fights here is just crazy. The last combat had five enemies who all started near the group and where plainly visible, this one has had three or four different pairs of enemies pop out of nowhere, at a distance with obsticles; thus the difficulty levels and time need for the two are completely different.

![]() |

Unfortunately, no. Thing is this encounter would likely have worked out fine on face-to-face, as the early part of the encounter involved just you guys moving, which would go much faster in real-life games. On PBP though, whether you are just moving or attacking takes the same amount of time.
Separately, think you would have noticed that those pairs of orcs appearing would not attack, and pretty much go down with one hit. Nonetheless, that is still a total of 10 orcs appearing over the 5 rounds, on top of the archer and caster.

Angela, if you are feeling particularly heroic, I'll allow a charge to the last green human. :)

![]() |

I'd been contimplating lighting a torch and going after the barrel, but I left my flint and torches in my pack which she dropped last round. A charge sounds like a great idea, then.

![]() |

Yes, yes. Think I mentioned in the gameplay thread? We completed the Protect the Convoy encounter, and I've moved us to the next one.

Janira the Bard |

A Bard passes by and reminds you of those well known inspiring words...
"As Durvin Gest, Exemplar of the Society, saw through the treachery of the fabled Lens of Galundari and chose to hurl the terrible lens down into the never-ending Nemesis Well, so you, his noblest heirs, shall stand steadfast against deceit and error, surrendering nothing but your burdens and falling nowhere but on our foes!"
Aid Token, Boosted with Allied Offensive!

![]() |

Angela scowls at the other halfling for a brief moment, before plastering a forced smile on her face. "Janira, thank you for the words of advice. However, if I may, as one halfling to another, the chieftain's half-rate brother and his goonies are ours! Please go find your own battle!
Woots! The token's back, Xantnax or Ridley, let's use it! Thank you Janira the Bard for dropping it off and sorry if Angela seemed antagonistic! I really do appreciate it.

Ok, these undeads won't last much longer so need to do a quick straw poll. For the next encounter, you have the option to do some socialising (and other skill checks) or fight more undeads. Both options also grant successes, just in different ways. Also, you can still go back and forth between the options. Personally, I would like to bring you to the social encounter so that you get a fuller story, but I can also understand if you are not comfortable with your social skills. (Although there would be other skill options - I just can't tell you what they are just yet.)

![]() |

Story options with some roleplaying chances sounds great! Angela is glad to help if anyone wants it!
*clears throat* Actually I should do this in a more Angela-esque way.
Fighting undead is a noble and necessary task indeed, but we should be careful we don't leave the social and communal structures necessary for this mission to succeed derelict. As always anyone who wants my advice, guidance, or exceptional expertise only need to ask, or flounder about in a pitiful manner.

![]() |

You can still throw bombs at story options, right?
Seriously though, a little break from constant combat is nice now and again, so I'm all for it.

![]() |

Ree, you needn't apologise. I reflected and I should apologise instead. In my enthusiasm and anxiety to get the get successes, I neglected that the agreement was for one posting a day and I should stick to that. Last thing I want to do is to take away player agency. Honestly, our table is moving very well. We have cleared 3 of the 4 encounters in this section, and most of the other table have only cleared 1. And from the looks of it, some none. So, let's not stress about clearing encounters, and just have fun! :)

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

If you want to make sure we clear everything, just deploy all the enemies adjacent to each other every time and roll high on my initiative and we'll be golden. :D

![]() |

No apologies needed so there! :P
I'm having fun with this! I just wanted to make sure my crappy schedule wasn't hurting our stuf is all!

![]() |

Hey guys, things looking a bit hairy now, but I think with the latest round you have a sense of the situation. You'll need to draw them out of the stone circle somehow, e.g. ranged or reach attacks, as the tentacles plus negative energy is quite a deadly combination. If Ree and Xantanax can break out of the grapple and step out, together with Ridley's bomb and Salarian's channel energy, that might draw them out? All the best! Gambatte! You can do it!
Oh, and now would probably be the best (and last) chance to use Mirtgog's benefits. :)

![]() |

We'll be fine as long as Ree and Xanatax bust out. :D
It could get dicey if either one of them get stuck in there for several rounds though...

![]() |

Dear fellow, we are reaching the end of the scenario. Boon-rolling time! For those new to pbp gamedays, at the end of each game, you stand a chance to win a boon, all for taking part in a gameday event!
So roll a d20, and if you get 19 or 20, you win a boon! Then, roll a d4 to determine which boon. Also, please pm me your email address so that the organisers can send you the boon.
Alright, me first!
1d20 ⇒ 14 Nope!

![]() |

Come on boon!
Do I have any luck today?: 1d20 ⇒ 2
No I guess not.
Also profession check time.
Profession secretary, with orc bonus: 1d20 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 5 = 22

![]() |

Too bad no one on our table won a boon... :(
Ok, some administrative stuff. You can find your chronicle sheets here. I'll also put a link at the top of the page. Let me know if there are any problems.
Will be reporting the game shortly after this, but as it is done centrally via PBP GD6, it might take a while to log into your account. If it doesn't appear after a week or so, please let me know.
Alright guys, it is always a bitter-sweet moment for me when I end a game. It was great fun playing with you guys!

![]() |

Thanks for the great game. I really enjoyed playing in this one. Everyone seemed to be active and that really pushed the pace along. That makes a huge difference in these games!
Great playing with all of you and I look forward to when our paths cross again!

![]() |

Yay thank you for a great game! It was fun playing with all of you!
