Enough of this! You get down here, now!
Stepping to the his side, static charges snap loudly around Grymlind. He reaches his arms in the direction of the man on the roof, as the blue charges begin to radiate down his arms.
Step to one side to get a clear shot. Cast Elemental Ray at target on the roof.

Grymlind sends a charged bolt up at the man on the roof, but he miscalculates the angle and his lightning shock fires harmlessly over his target's head. Meanwhile, Garret clambers along the rooftops, and Yarg moves forward to stop Clacent from bleeding out. (He's still doing a good job of that one, mind you.)
Balak aims a sharp blow into the halfling's ribcage, causing the angry little man to curse loudly as he struggles against his grip. "Get ya filthy hands off me! This ain't what I call a good fight!" With a shout of frustration, the halfling sinks his teeth into Balak's arm, which is enough of a shock to allow him to wriggle free. "Fight fair, why don'tcha?!" The irony is obviously lost on him, especially since he then leans over to pick up his dropped greataxe.
The man on the roof seems to reconsider his plan to jump down, noticing Chasik menacing about and that his route back to his companions seems to have been cut off with everyone moving up. He hesitates a moment, but then draws a dagger from his belt and throws it at Grymlind. The dwarf feels a sharp pain down his arm as the dagger embeds in his shoulderblade. (5 damage)
The woman near Balak retreats back into the shroud, and not even the keen-eyed tiefling can see her anymore. What he can see is a dark energy flow through the halfling all of a sudden, seemingly revitalising him. He grins wildly, "Why, thank ya', Deandre! You ready ta fight more, bud?!" He seems to be enjoying himself...
The group waits for another blast of acid, but it seems to not come. Instead there's a woman's voice - "Whoops!" You're not sure what happened, but whatever it is, it clearly didn't go well...

Just looked it up - apparently it does, according to this FAQ
On the other hand, I don't think that he would normally drop an item if he was grappled anyway, right? :P

I'm wondering, since I'm not helpless anymore, can I take a 5 ft step or crawl when prone? Does it have to be the square above Balak or any square around him? Well with 2 hp I don't think I can eat an AoO.

![]() |

Can I do a 5 ft step on the roof?
[Yes]
Garret steps over the ridge of the roof, loads his sling and fires it at the human on the roof opposite him.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

[No]
Garret carefully moves along the rooftops into the mists, feeling his way so he does not plunge into the alley. If he sees someone in the mists he will keep 5' between himself and the enemy.
Acrobatics rolled in Yes: 3 + 10 = 13

GM Alice |

Clacent, you can crawl but you need to end your movement in a space that is not occupied by another person. If Chasik 5-foot steps to the left you could go next to him. It does provoke, though you'll have the miss chance to perhaps help you out there.
You can crawl 5 feet as a move action. Crawling incurs attacks of opportunity from any attackers who threaten you at any point of your crawl. A crawling character is considered prone and must take a move action to stand up, provoking an attack of opportunity.
You can use Acrobatics in this way while prone, but doing so requires a full-round action to move 5 feet, and the DC is increased by 5. If you attempt to move through an enemy’s space and fail the check, you lose the move action and provoke an attack of opportunity.
Garret, I don't think you could 5-foot step while you're balancing on the roof.

Gah! I'm hit!
Grymlind yells and releases another charge from his outstretched hand before ducking behind a nearby crate.
Shoot Elemental Ray at target on the roof and then five foot step behind the crate next to him for cover.

Grymlind's really not having a good day of it - maybe he's too "grounded" for his electro-shocks to be of any use. Chasik moves up beside Balak - both to give room for Clacent to crawl out and to distract the halfling while he did so. The halfling's axe clangs harmlessly off of the tough warrior's shield, and Chasik retaliates - or tries to, at least. The halfling ducks effortlessly underneath the warhammer's path.
Chasik Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Garret, I wasn't 100% sure where you wanted to go, so I moved you 20 ft. across the roof into a reasonably good position. I presume you're trying to fire down upon them from above.
Garret disappears into the mists, using his careful feet to feel his way along the rooftop. Just before he reaches the edge of a roof, he spots someone just below him... it is a blonde woman, and she seems to be muttering things to herself. As he stands there, she suddenly looks up, her eyes wild. And then she laughs. Kind of disconcerting really...
Yarg revives Clacent, who, once he gathers his wits about himself, promptly crawls back into the alleyway to relative safety. (Except for that guy on the roof, probably...) Balak meanwhile makes a half-hearted (and failed) attempt to gather the angry little halfling back into his embrace.
The red-haired woman re-emerges before Balak and Chasik, and she attempts to stab the tiefling through the gut once more. However, Chasik steps forward to block the blow with his shield, and the clang of steel upon steel echoes throughout the alleyway. Garret, meanwhile, barely escapes a ray of acid to the face as the cackling woman conjures a seething, caustic mass in her hands and lobs it his way.
The man on the roof decides to jump down - although he slips just before he leaps and winds up completely falling off the roof in a rumpled mass of limbs and clothing, cursing all the way. He manages to pull himself to his feet, but Grymlind is sure that his ankle is somewhat twisted.
The halfling attempts to carve out Balak's heart once more, but is apparently having trouble seeing through the mist, and misses because of it.
Everyone's up.

Copycat (1 is mirror image, 2 is a hit): 1d2 ⇒ 1
Chasik manages to land a nasty blow on his opponent... or so he thinks, and is instead shocked when his blow hits nothing at all! Instead it destroys the illusory copy.
Garret loads and fires his sling... but his bullet is easily sidestepped. Yarg heals Clacent, who then stands up, most of his wounds completely restored. Balak deftly rips the small greataxe from the halfling's hands and it clatters to the ground with a loud clang, much to its owner's annoyance. "You just don't bloody fight fair!"
The injured man at the back takes one look at the spark-crackling sorcerer before deciding he's had enough - and so he makes a run for it, escaping down the alleyway with an obvious limp. "Sorry, Deandre - This ain't a good day to die!" he shouts out behind him, and the red-haired woman's lip curls in fury.
"You filthy turncoat! Coward!!"
You can try to follow him or stop him if you really want to.
Fuelled by her anger, the woman clicks her fingers to reinstate her mirror image and stabs out again at Chasik. She shrieks in anger as she, yet again, has absolutely no chance of getting through his armour. "This is so frustrating!!"
"TELL ME A-BLOODY-BOUT IT!" the halfling responds with a cry of frustration. He bends down to pick up his greataxe (provoking an AOO from Chasik and Balak) and then attempts to attack with it again... to little effect. "ARGH!"
The cackling woman, however, seems unaffected by the frustration, blasting Garret right in the face with a torrent of caustic acid. (7 damage)

Buoyed from his first success, Chasik continues his attack on the halfling, this time slamming him sharply in the torso. There's a sickening crack of bone snapping as the blonde warrior stumbles back a half-step, clutching at his torso and holding back a shout of pain. Balak attempts to tug his greataxe away once more, but somehow can't manage it.
I'll get Clacent to use his wand on Grymlind instead. Yarg I'm assuming you just delay for this round, although if you want to take an extra action(s) next round do so.
Yarg and Clacent hang back, Clacent healing up some of Grymlind's stab wound with his wand.
"You've got a good hit in ya there, lad!" the blonde halfling says with a choked laugh to Chasik, coughing out a splutter of blood. "Gods. I'd like ta fight you on better terms sometime... how 'bout a draw for now, mate?" He willingly drops his weapon and raises his hands.
Deandre, the red-haired woman, spits at the halfling's feet. "You're as much a coward as Larkin, you pathetic half-a-man! Worthless slime! Total waste of the coin I paid you, Ledford!" She turns to him and promptly stabs him in the side with her shortsword; Ledford lets out a choked gasp as his eyes roll back in his head and he slumps to the ground in a pool of his own blood.
"Bah! This isn't how my first heist was supposed to go!" Deandre grumbles before retreating back into the mists... "Halli, you best not mess up too!"
"Uhaha.. haha.. aahhaHAhahaHAHA!"
That same eerie, utterly insane cackling continues... and then suddenly a flash of crazed, intermingling, psychadelic colours sprays out from within the obscuring mist, blindingly bright, all over the front line of Pathfinders!
Balak, Chasik and Yarg must make a DC 14 Will save.

Dimly, through the mist, he spies the two women: one is armoured and wielding a sword, while the other is unarmoured and seems weaponless. Logic decrees that the second is the spellcaster here, so he promptly removes her torso from her body in one powerful swing. Literally. Ouch.
That leaves just the one woman left, and she's rather agape at how quickly the sorcerer beside her was felled...
"I thought you were dead!" she spits at Clacent. "I guess I just have to make you dead again!" She then stabs him in the gut! (5 damage)
Sorry 'bout the colour spray, guys. Only following the tactics for this encounter. >_< It's pretty harsh on lowbie groups!

GM Alice |

I'm just going to fast-forward this a little because with the woman on the ground you will beat her into submission sooner rather than later anyway, and we're basically done this now anyway!
Garret knocks over the remaining bandit and Grymlind comes up and bashes her over the head with his hammer. Clacent joins them in the fracas and soon enough you are able to subdue her - whether through death or unconsciousness is up to you. Not long after the battle is over, the obscuring mist fades, and perhaps a minute later the group awakens from their magic-induced stupor.
Perhaps you simply loot the bodies and leave, or perhaps you report it to the town guard - whatever the case, eventually the business gets tidied up and you are free to head back to the Grand Lodge to finish up your mission for the day. Finally.
You return back to the Grand Lodge just as the sun disappears behind the walls of Absalom. Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin thanks you for carrying out the requested tasks, assuring you that not every mission for the Pathfinder Society involves running errands about Absalom. He also congratulates you for proving your skill and responsibility and promises you a new assignment in the near future to take them beyond Absalom's unassailable walls--"I believe Drandle Dreng wants you to pay a visit to Escadar, actually..."
---------
Back in the current day, the group fondly remembers their exploits, the highs and lows, and are glad they have chosen the life of a Pathfinder. Perhaps some day they'll have the good fortune to be brought together again!
And that marks the end of the scenario - thanks for playing all!
