"Usually, I'd say we should leave well enough alone. We have what we need, and getting out sounds really smart right now." He looks down suspiciously at Tseka. "Then again, I get real curious when shifty bastards assure me that there's nothing important behind a door."

Making Tseka my Studied Target. Does she react to Jal's statement in a way that would make me think she's being deceptive about the temple door?

Aramil looks over all the information before looking up at Tskea with a wry smile. "So, it turns out that you're not as big a catch as we were lead to believe. You've been running around masquerading as an officer when in reality, you're just an NCO in jeopardy of being busted back down to enlisted status. Nevertheless, I'm sure the Society will find some use for you."
Turning to the others, he says "Very well, If you wish to investigate the temple, then let us do so quickly."
He then pulls the rope to force the ratfolk into a standing position before prodding her forward with his sabre. "Come on then," he says with a grin "As hostess, it's only polite that you give your guests a tour. And besides, as the old saying goes, ladies first.

Jal puts a halt to Tseka going first, giving Armail a shake of his head. "We still need her alive, and we won't want her tipping off whoever ... or whatever might be in there."

He looks down at the rat-Aspis, tapping the sap at his belt. "In fact, if we go in, I don't see a reason she needs to be conscious for it."

And I'd still like to know if Jal picked up any deception when Tseka was talking about the temple and whatever's in it.

Jal: No she does not. You get only the impression of truth.

The party dismantles the blockade in front of the northern door, and moves into an oddly shaped room with doors to the north, the north west, the west, and a tunnel leading to the south. Tseka motions to the door in the north west curve of the wall as belonging to the temple. Jal checks it for traps, but finds nothing of note. Throwing open the door, he sees that the walls of this circular room are covered in painted scenes of fear and torment. The stone ceiling rises in a craggy dome that is haphazardly carved with disembodied eyes, talons, fangs, and other monstrous features. In the center of the room, rusty brown stains run down from a circular dais, which holds a stained marble bowl and a collection of rusty daggers. A jagged black rune covers up most of the floor. Tattered and moldy bedrolls are pushed into the corners of the room.

DC 15 Knowledge (planes) or Knowledge (religion):
You recognize that the symbol inlaid in the floor is the rune of Lamashtu, goddess of madness, monsters, and nightmares. The priests and priestesses of Lamashtu who lived in this temple performed nightly sacrifices to their goddess in the offering bowl, and then fell asleep on top of her rune, waiting for the nightmares to take them.

From the door, Jal takes a long look at the room.

Unless that turns up something worth investigating, the long-limbed Varisian shakes his head. ”I … say we leave well enough alone. We have Tseka and some documents.” He nods vaguely towards the discovered secret exits. ”Let’s bhuail an bóthar.”

"What in the Drunkard's name is that?"

I'm still operating without a computer and can't see the whole map on my IPad. Have we seen the whole complex?

|Ruins |WBGoblins|RotRL| Emerald Spire|

Jal takes a look around through the doorway, but can spot nothing of interest.

Karos: There still remains one door north of your position that has not been opened, but effectively, yes. you have explored the complex.

Content to leave sleeping demons where they lie, the party takes their captives and hastens out of the complex. Not long after exiting the old temple, they hear a familiar voice calling out from the darkness. "Well. It seems you adventures were certainly entertaining! What did you find out? What information did you learn?" The helpful pipefox strides out from the shadows to walk alongside you as you navigate the tunnels.

Greetings, friend. We found our quarry. As to what we learned in there--there's a big fungal garden growing in there. I shrine of Lamashtu, too. The followers would perform sacrifices on the shrine and sit, waiting for the nightmares to take them. The Aspis are cowardly scum, but I don't think they have anything to do with the Mother of Monsters...

"No, I don't think so either. Is that all that you learned from these people?" the pipefox enquires.

"We confirmed she was part of an anti-Pathfinder splinter organization called the Korholm Agenda, and that she had ties to a local thieves guild called the Dragon Fangs, whom she used to terrorize her competitors," says Karos. "And that she was masquerading as a goals agent when in fact she was only a silver agent."

|Ruins |WBGoblins|RotRL| Emerald Spire|

"Oh really now??" The pipefox responds to Karos. "Now that is interesting. You know, you look like quite an interesting group. I think I am going to tag a long with you for a bit longer.." The tiny creature says. "This way.. I know a shortcut to the Lantern Lodge.." With these words, the pipefox once again takes the lead, passing through tunnels and caverns, until you are back above ground and near the Lodge. Once within, Amara Li greets you effusively.

"I knew you lot were good, but this surpasses even my boldest expectations!" she glows. She waves for a passing Pathfinder to relieve you of the chest of papers and documents. She moves Makino and Tseka off to be incarcerated, and meets with the group later over a grand dinner celebration.

"We thought Makino was dead.. he will be dealt with like the traitor that he is. As for Tseka, your skill and ingenuity is unmatched! Bringing her in alive will deal a heavy blow to the Consortium, once we break her and get her talking. Your work here has brought us one step closer to bringing the Aspis Consortium to justice! It is always a pleasure to work with Pathfinders from different parts of the world. Please convey my gratitude to the Grand Lodge, and let the Masters know that Tian Xia will always welcome the Society. I hope that we meet again someday.”

Congratulations! You have successfully completed the Deepmarket Deception. I will have the chronicles up shortly, as well as a critique form. Please do me a big favor and fill out the survey. Your feedback is much appreciated, and instrumental to growing into a better GM. I greatly appreciate all of you, and hope to see you about on the boards.

Guang bows to his companions and to Amara Li.

"I would humbly request that the traitor's punishment not be fatal, for he can accomplish little perfection of the self if he perishes now; he learns nothing. Yet I defer to the wisdom of the Society and to the eventual perfection of all peoples."

To the others who traveled with him, Guang says, "It was most wonderful to travel on the path together, brothers. May your future journeys bring you enlightenment in all spheres!"

Karos tips his hat to the Venture-Captain and his companions. "It's been my pleasure. But it's gotten too quiet around here and Cayden has other plans for me, other villains to punish."

He puts a bottle of wine on the table and walks out.

"See you on the Open Road, Pathfinders!"

Jal shrugs at Guang's non-lethal suggestion. "I say do whatever it takes to drain her of any information she has ... and if she doesn't make it ... well, she should have considered her life choices better."

He picks his pack back up, giving the team a casual salute as he heads for the door. "Good luck, everyone. *Coinnigh do shúile ar oscailt agus do lanna gear ."
