Marnarius slows down his movements, and only manages to apply some poison to an arrow. Joliryn feels her limbs slow as well, and spider climbs into the room, avoiding the trap. She manages to pinpoint an illusory foe - flying over the room (The spot that is marked)

Gazwyr also needs to roll a save, his move into the room came after the spell

Things start looking bleak when Zurnzal gets slowed down as well. Shohiraj, fortunately unhindered, keeps working on the trap, while the experiment starts feeling the overwhelming aura from the magical device in the room, as well as the presence of a large number of other magical items.

Overwhelming doesn't give any bad effects

The flying mage weaves a spell, forming purple energies and immersing 322's mind

Will save, please

The invisible thing is still invisible.

Gift of Madness:

If not, use that ability. Are there other ways to detect the location of the invisible whatsit, e.g., Perception (in order to use the "gift" ability)? If no, continue concentrating, using detect magic (third round) to try to identify a slight illusion aura that might indicate an invisible foe. (standard)

322 recognises the spell that Aram Zey casts as Feeblemind. Fortunately for her, the spell doesn't take hold.

I think line of sight applies to gift of madness, as it calls out a single target.

322 continues concentrating on her detect spell, and notices an aura of illusion on aram zey, as well as many auras hovering nearby: illusion, transmutation, evokation...

Kludde: If Gazwyr did get invisibility cast on him from Joliryn before we opened the door, then Zey couldn't target him with slow...unless he has other abilities up his sleeve.

Joliryn: If you know Zey's general location can you hit him with a glitterdust?

If Jolyrin glitterdusts Zey:

A glittery shape appears, floating within the room. Marnarius notches his poison arrow, quickly studies the enemy (swift action), and looses the arrow.

Attack - Precise Shot, Studied Target, Slowed: 1d20 + 10 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 - 1 = 27

If Zey fails the save vs Glitterdust, here is the sneak attack damage.

You can pinpoint a square, but targetting someone with a spell requires you to see or touch the, So what you can do is move up to whatever invisible thing there is, and try a touch attack. Since it is not a touch spell, though, this attack will provoke.

@Marnarius: you can safely assume Aram Zey has many tricks up his sleeve ;-)

@GM: Thanks, that's what I needed to know! Gazwyr could identify an invisibly occupied space, but I didn't know whether 322 had. Totally okay with requiring line of sight for "target" spells that don't have an attack roll, it makes sense. However, 322 has some other spells too...

One option is for her to continue spider climb above him and attack melee, or "fall"/grapple him, although she gets decent benefits for just threatening a caster.

She has 20' move and is slowed, so I think her best bet for the moment is magic missile and 5' step up the wall to move closer.

I agree with everyone choice for Joliryn. Moving into combat and delivering a shocking grasp through a spell strike would be better but as everyone can attest, SLOW SUCKS.

As a side note, Zey had a ridiculous amount of time to pre-buff. So far I got improved Invis, See Invis, and Stone Skin. I bet there are others too. I wonder if we should have just kicked in the door rather than mess around with plans and disguises right outside....hindsight sucks.

Joliryn took the full hit from Zey's spell, but quickly responds with some magic missiles.

As rolled for me:
Force: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 2) + 4 = 16

Joliryn's spider climb ability then stops working. Considering she's not even five feet above the floor, Joliryn hops off the wall and back to the floor. (Guess that counts as a 5-foot step?)

I'm an Eldritch Scion, which means I can spontaneously cast spells. So I could use a 3rd level spell slot for shocking grasp. Thing is, as you've pointed out, I'd have to get to Zey first...

The plan was unsuccessful, but more creative. SWAT team tactics become stale quickly. Remember, we didn't think this was his office but a library. I am assuming he is prepped regardless of the type of entrance with various clairvoyance spells if we couldn't have avoided it with nondetection spells.

Shohiraj: Completely agree with you. I don't think I would have done it differently. I was more just contemplating how this encounter was set up for the GM. There are plenty of other things going on that could have tipped Zey into pre-combat prep. We did set free a bunch of animals, burn buildings down, release an army into the frey, and create a walking killing statue.

Fort: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 9 - 2 = 12

322 cloaks Zey into the cold of the void, while Marnarius and Zurnzal 'rush' in.

You have the lantern. You need to open it and be within 30 feet of a dying person to capture his soul.

I'm not sure how this will work mechanically, but Gazwyr is attempting to grab onto the man, and stop flying. The idea is to use his weight to pull him down.

grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 AoO granted.

I'll wait with posting till I know the result of Gazwyr's action. Will probably (slowly) go with the shocking grasp tactic if Zey's (slowly) coming down.

1 for real zey: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Gazwyr tries to grabs a hold of the wizard, but only grabs an illusory double

To speed thing up, if your action depends on grapple or no grapple, feel free to both possible actions in spoilers

Let me know what action that will be. In your current state, I doubt it'll change Zey's next action much:

Fly: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22

Zey flies out of range often dragon, and launches a burst of fire, that snakes its way around 322, Gazwyr, then makes its way to Marnarius, Shiraj, Zurnzal and finally Joliryn.

Fire Snake: 11d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 5, 5, 6, 4, 1, 1, 5, 6) = 43 RFX DC 22 for half

Holy s&%@. 4 20s in one post. Also, that's a 20 confirm on a 20 threat. Too bad PFS doesn't use any bonus rules for that.

Do Gazwyr and I also get Attacks of Opportunity for Zey leaving our threatened area, or was that "a 5' step"? What about AoO for his previous spell while being threatened? Haven't played flying characters before.

And, sorry, but I'm not understanding your description of Zey's attack. "It snakes its way around ..." Who does it hit, and do I have to roll a Ref? Don't mean to be difficult, but I haven't heard of a spell like this before, and don't know what's going on.

Zurnzal will move next to Zey, hoping he will provoke AOOs in the next round. He'll also use a Swift action to gain the Quick Dirty Trick feat. Slowed, so just Move action and a Swift. Here's his AOO if he gets one, though.

So, it hits everyone he listed, not "goes around" them. Got it. Thanks.

Asked a couple of times about the AoO for when mirror image was cast, and didn't get an answer on that.

Yeah you should be getting AOOs, though you'll probably end up hitting mirror images.

It was before (as) mirror image was being cast, so it shouldn't hit an image ... I didn't want to jump the gun, because maybe he was casting defensively (and good enough Concentration to not need a roll) or maybe there was something about the flying rules I didn't get. Or maybe I couldn't do enough damage with a dagger hit to matter because stoneskin. (But perhaps Gazwyr could!) Just frustrated that there wasn't a response to the question.
