"Looks like they've decided to negotiate." Noisy says, as the second batch of morlocks show up.
"At least I think that's what that is..." He adds, frowning. "Can anyone else tell these guys apart?"
He steps forwards slightly, muttering. "I hope they speak our language, 'cause I'm note sure I now theirs."
"You attack us. Now you wish to talk to us?" He says, in common. "We can give you a few words, though warn you if you wish to continue this fight."
He'll try common... and if that doesn't work, azlanti, then abyssal, then give up (as I'm sure they don't speak dwarf or gnome or hallit)

DM Kludde |

The hulking leader morlock separates himself from his kin. Speaking in a broken cadence, he stammers, “Surface dwellers, me friend. Much going on and time short. Follow me; I take you to Karn.” As he struggles with an unfamiliar language the large morlock emphasizes his point by shaking a familiar object: a wayfinder.
With surprising speed he shuffles on all fours and begins to scamper off, after 10 feet, the morlock stops and swivels back pleading, “Hurries, hurries, hurries!”

DM Kludde |

He seems legit. For a Morlock.
Hurries! Hurries! To friend!

DM Kludde |

After traveling for what seems like a mile or more over the shattered remains of Rachikan, Bogipfen and the avdenturers arrive about 100 feet away from an intact, rectangular building that rises above the neighboring, ruined structures. It’s a three-story building, but now only its top-most level remains above ground.
Cage inside, friend in cage! Bogipfen says. Lots of bad people, wings and blades. Bad people

Chasik will grab his gear, and wait for a minute to return to normal size. He looks at the Morlocks, then the others.
Well, shall we trust them. They have yet to be hostile?
Chasik will head with the friendly Morlocks, as strange as it may be.

I'm back from my trip to NYC, thanks for botting me!
Basalte rumbles after watching his companions and their unexpected allies tear apart the assailants.
"Good job. Now we follow."
After following the morlock.
Basalte glances at the earthen structure, then applies both his palms on the wall and seems to concentrate. "Wait. Let me see through brother stone."
Using one round of my gloves of reconaissance to see what's inside. Basalte has Darkvision, if it helps.

He nods toward the Morlock leader and then turns to his companions waiting for a decision to be made.

Combat over
The eastern room is filled with four cages, torture implements, and a heavy grate that seals the pit below. The incubus demons that live here have put agony on exhibit in the form of several lifeless figures contorted in impossible shapes and nailed to the wall as works of art, their shattered bodies splayed open in perverse displays of vivisection. Armor still clinging to the corpses marks the deceased as Hellknights.
Both the woman in the cage, and the caged Morlock are unconscious.

Basalte smashes a cage, while Noisy opens the lock to the other. Both prisoners, a human woman and a morlock, look to be unconscious, but stable
A rescue, finally. I thought I would die here in the hands of these demons. But there is no time to waste. A terrible demon, a kalavakus, has taken hold of thee ruins. The beast seems to be obsessed with excavating some object buried under the ruins here, an immense construct near a sealed door. Several agents of Cheliax have been imprisoned as well, I think the demons keep them under that grate there she points at the end of the room.
Bogipfen has been very helpful, and I think that together with him and the golem master, we'll have some powerful allies against the demon.

![]() |

Revive them both I imagine. Though probably best to have our little morlock guide nearby when the unconscious one wakes up... to avoid any misunderstandings =)
"Are you Marianix?" He asks, making sure this is indeed the missing spy their here to rescue.
"Bogipfen?" Noisy replies to her comments. "You mean that pushy fellow there?" He asks, pointing at the morlock that lead them here.
"He seemed quite insistent on your rescue, ha! Never did mention his name."
"Which one's the golem master?" He adds. "I hope not this one." He indicates the dead Hellknight. "I think he's beyond assisting anyone at the moment."
He ponders the dead displayed on the wall as well. "Why are there so many Hellknights here?"
He attempts to revive the unconscious morlock.

Karen then explains The Hellknights were here to mount a rescue mission of sorts. I don't know their goals, they did not crack under torture.

![]() |

"Rescue? Of who?" Noisy asks, as he helps the woman up. "What were the demons trying to learn? Can't say I'd much like having incubi putting the screws to me."
"And you say there's more Hellknights down below?"
I suppose we should release those guys too if they're still breathing. =) Is that lock openable, or do we need to use the adamantine door opener.
Unfortunately, Noisy does not know undercommon. Does anyone have that lingo? How about Karn?
"We were sent to rescue you, and perhaps locate some golems for study. What exactly is going on down there that we'd need to ally with the Morlocks?"

DM Kludde |

Thy must have been from Cheliax to warrant a Hellknight rescue, more than that I do not know. The demons seemed to be obsessed with some kind of construct that lays buried here, wanting to excavate it.
The Hellknights are below that grate there. I've seen the demons lift it, though it seems quite heavy.
