After taking a moment to regain a regular breathing pattern, Saphera pulls out her wand of cure light wounds and uses a charge on herself, Zuriel, Dario, and reluctantly Kenji.
Saphera then points at the glove the skeleton was wearing. That glove looks different than the one I have. I wonder if it also unlocks things. Maybe we should keep it just in case. Saphera begins looking around for anything that looks like it might be usable to realign the door below.

Kenji takes a deep breath, then to Saphera, he says softly, "I appreciate the healing. Thank you. The moreso because I sense you don't like me or what I am. But know that I can't help the accident of my birth. I live my life by the precepts taught to me by my human mother and the monks who trained me. Please don't lump me in with those of my father's blood." He shrugs, having nothing little to add to these sentiments.
"I do have my own wand of healing. If you'd prefer not to use your own on me, would you consider using mine for my benefit? I am incapable of activating it myself.

Saphera nods to Kenji with a look of understanding. You perplex me Mr. Nishida. I find myself sympathetic to your situation yet, I am hesitant to trust you. So fare you have proven nothing but helpful in our endeavor, but history dictates deception as a way of life among your kin.
Saphera pauses for a moment remembering back to her days in the World Wound. I realize there is a significant difference between your ancestors and the demonic hordes we dealt with in the world wound. That difference is enough to cause pause in my judgment. For now, I accept your effort in our pursuit as proof of your good intent.
As for the wand, I have already used the charge from mine, which I do not regret. I will make note of your wand for the future and will be happy to use it in your behalf if you are willing to help with the less fortunate in the group.

Okay, gaze attack. This affects everyone in the room. Firstly you all need to save (will DC 16) or become [ooc]facinated Essentially you can't do anything. But wait, it gets worse, anyone targetting the construct will also face this challenge - you have two choices - try to avert your face (gives it concealment, and only a 50% chance of you needing you make a save) or put on a blind fold (and you get 50% miss chance).
The construct then tries to get to its feet, and staggers a step forward.

A fascinated creature is entranced by a supernatural or spell effect. The creature stands or sits quietly, taking no actions other than to pay attention to the fascinating effect, for as long as the effect lasts. It takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat, such as a hostile creature approaching, allows the fascinated creature a new saving throw against the fascinating effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the fascinated creature, automatically breaks the effect. A fascinated creature's ally may shake it free of the spell as a standard action.

I'm good with this being an enchantment. the only spell I can find that does this is hyptomism which is an enchantment. So Zuriel can act
BTW, Dolores, being outside the room, is currently just out of range (it is 30')
If you are trying to avert your eyes, roll a d2, 1 = you succeed and don't need to make a save. Note that have a miss chance from the concealment granted - roll a d5 - on a one you miss no matter your attack roll.
The creature itself does not count as a threat for giving a new save, but as a standard action you can shake a companion free of the effect.
Zuriel looks into the faceplate and starts to lose himself in the lights, but no self respecting elf would stay entranced by mere lights for long, and he quickly pulls himself out of it.
Kenji is less lucky and just looks at the pretty lights, as does Saphera.
Dolores fires an arrow from outside the room, but it goes wide.

Dario spins Saphera around, breaking the gaze and delivers a sharp slap across her face, bringing her around.
The construct stays on the ground for a moment, lights from its face plate again flickering all around the room.
Extra will saves from Zuriel, and Dario this round to avoid being facinated.
It then stands.
If you make the will save, the AOO from standing goes off delivering an extra 15 damage, but if you are facinated....no such luck

Yep, I made the extra will save on my turn before attacking it, but now it's targeting me again with the gaze, right? One thing--does the gaze attack itself provoke an AoO? If so, would my attack trigger before he gazes me, allowing me to stab before the save? Either way, here goes...

On his turn the professor just woke up Saphera, he didn't target the machine. So does that mean he wouldn't have needed a Will Save until now, when the machine actively uses the gaze? And, if so, can he keep his (earlier unneeded) roll for his save this round? We need all the help we can get against this nasty thing ;-) Sorry for all of the questions, btw.

Professor, it would help a lot if you can keep turning people away from that things gaze when they become entranced. Relying entirely on her strength of will, Saphera turns and engages the mind numbing construct.

Barley able to fight back the urge to stare endlessly at the thing, Saphera moves slightly closer to the construct. Taking advantage of her ability to withstand the things overwhelming gaze, Saphera observes the construct for weaknesses in its defense.
