The zombie goes down under a hail of blows.
The badly injured Doritannia slumps into a chair, a quick look at the wound from the assassin shows that the blade may well have been poisoned. She lives, but is badly weakened.
Throughout the complex, the sounds of battle and zombies is starting to die down. After maybe a minute Aaqiral’Hakam arrives in the room, short of breath.
"Thank-you so much." he says. He pulls the pathfinders away from the Doritannia into a quiet corner.
"I don't know what is happening, but those zombies look to have come from our graveyard. I am concerned for Umut’s safety, as she has yet to return, and the graveyard is only ten minutes walk away. I will see to calming the other guests and make sure Doritannia gets medical help. Can you please check out the graveyard."

While I agree, we all need to catch our breath, time is of the essence here. If someone is in danger, then we haven't a moment to lose. It would seem prudent however to use some divine to fix up our wounds if possible...

![]() |

I rEALLY wish I'd spent those 2 pp for a wand of cure light now... sigh

![]() |

Aaqiral’Hakam looks anxious.
"I can see you are tired, but Umut is very old, you saw her in the temple. I do worry about her."

![]() |

While it is not agreeable, it is necessary. Pooka looks at Aramil with an understanding glance.
Cheer up my friend, at least we aren't expecting a gigantic ape to greet us when we get to the graveyard, He says with a wry grin.
Lets move Luna... Pooka pats his equally tired mount on the neck and scratches behind her ear as they begin to make their way to the graveyard.

Wait ... Gutter has a wand ... who needs some quick healing?
Aramil 4 damage, fatigued clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

(Luna) 6 damage clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The Gutter waves his hand in the air as his wand starts to heat up and smoke ...

![]() |

"Thank you for sharing your healing with those that needed it. Shame it doesn't heal this overwhelming sense of fatigue as well. But naught we can do about it now... shall we go?"

![]() |

Luna, Bow
As the dog stretches her front paws out and dips her chest to the ground, Pooka bows along side his canine companion. Thank you very much Gutter! Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I can ever return the favor.

I'm assuming you have the zombie tear itself apart, There will be lots of upset nobles and merchants, not to mention awkard questions asked if it looks like you have one under your control...
It takes just ten minutes to walk (or ride for Pooka) to the graveyard.
The graveyard used by the Bahjari family is one they
share with several other wealthy families in Katheer.
Small crypts and mausoleums containing the matriarchs
and patriarchs dot the fenced-in burial ground, and
freestanding gravestones mark where less influential
family members are interred.
However, unsurprisingly, not all is well.
Many graves have been disturbed, and the doors of several
mausoleums hang open. To the south lies the Bahjari family
mausoleum. A woman clad in black robes lies prone near
its door.

Couldn't I just have it follow me around to the Graveyard, and help out in combat :(

"Meh ... my motivations are selfish. Keeping you'all alive, keeps me alive. Just share it forward and we're solid ..."
At the grave yard ...
"Maybe we should split up and come at him from different angles ... whatever got him must still be around ... I'll circle in from the South, along the fence line there."
When everyone appears ready to move forward, The Gutter holds up his holy symbol, consisting of a small chain with caltrop like spikes on it,
"May Zon-Kuthon bless my companions and allow them to bring great pain upon our enemies ...", he utters as he passes the symbol across his neck in a feigned slashing motion.
As he strides off he alters-self into a bugbear ... (+2 strength, Scent) ... and sniffs in the air for any threats ...
The creature can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range.
When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a move action to note the direction of the scent. When the creature is within 5 feet of the source, it pinpoints the source’s location.

Gutter detects much old rotten flesh has been here recently. It comes from everywhere.

We are not really in initiative at the moment. This of this as the silent bit in the movie with the low, slow tense music building up

![]() |

Hakime will run toward the prone woman on the ground to try to help her. She keeps her eye out for trouble along the way.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Luna, Gidd-up
Pooka follows Hakime to inspect the fallen body, and knowing the woman is in good care with Hakime, begins to quickly get an idea of what is happening in the area around him.
Pooka spurs his canine mount forward. What's out there girl? What do you smell?
Luna puts her nose to the ground, moving quickly back and forth. Occasionally she lifts her head, nose high in the air, then brings it back down. Moving left and right, dog and rider canvas the area for clues.
Luna has scent also, same rules apply. I will stay in a different area from The Gutter to help canvas more area.
Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

@Hakime - I took the liberty of moving your token to the woman based on your post.

![]() |

thanks Pooka, I wasn't aware we could interact with the map, and unsure of anything that might intervene anyway, but I'm sure our gm will let me know if I get short-stopped. We shall see... hopefully nothing bad will happen on the way there.

![]() |

Yeap, everyone can move themselves on the map. I leave it open for edits, as that allows folk to be clear about what they are doing.
Umut groans and gets shakily to her feet as Hakime runs up to her.
"Thank the gods you are here!" she says
"When I placed the gifts in the
Bahjari crypt, one of them released a powerful wave of
necromantic energy that animated the bodies of the
buried nobles. I battled them as best I could but was
only able to fend off the creatures that tried to shamble
out of the crypt, not the ones that rose from the graves
outside."
She looks embarrassed.
"There are still some trapped inside the crypt..."
She looks like an old lady, covered in injures and probably some type of disease.
Umut gestures towards the nearby crypt. "My powers are spent, but if you could eliminate that threat. They may break out otherwise..."

![]() |

Hakime readies her sword and shield as soon as she is sure Umut is steady on her feet. "About how many of the abominations are in there?"
While waiting for Umut's answer she motions for the others, then recalls that not all can see in the dark. "Come, Pathfinders... there are walking dead in this crypt here that need to be dispatched."
She turns back to Umut. "You look like you need some healing and perhaps the attention of a healer to deal with disease. We do have someone with a wand of healing among us, who can at least deal with your injuries. Then you should seek a healer's assistance for your malaise."
When Gutter arrives, she whispers to him, "Perhaps a use of your wand for Umut before we go into the crypt?"
GM, your last update on our hp showed Adriana at 2 dmg, but she got 2 zaps from the wand, one for 2 and one for an additional 4, so she should be fully healed

![]() |

"I think there are three... no four undead in there." says Umut.
At the offer of healing she shakes her head. "I will be able to cure myself in the morning. In the meantime, save your energies."

![]() |

"How many can you handle at once, Adriana? Perhaps if you can just turn one or two against the others, they will simply tear each other apart. We can help if you tell us which ones you have control over so we don't attack those til the others are destroyed."

![]() |

Map updated with a close up of the entrance to the tomb. Please ignore the writing, I was in a hurry and didn't crop it all out.

![]() |

Pooka nudges Luna through the door, taking in his surroundings carefully as he enters. He turns to the right to allow others to follow, and takes a few extra minutes to make an extensive search of the entry way, knowing the threat that likely lies below them.
Luna, What do you smell?
Taking the time to Take 20 on my Perception check for a total of 22

![]() |

There is a scythe lying inside the crypt door.
Luna whines, she doesn't like the smell from down the stairs.

![]() |

Hakime focuses her attention on the scythe, detecting for evil... and when done looking intently on the abandoned weapon, she focuses her sight down the stairs to see if any evil is within her range down where the bad smells emanate from.

![]() |

Hakime doesn't detect evil down there, but knows that it is blocked by stonework, and the crypt is stone.

![]() |

Our adversary lies beneath us, lets move down.
Pooka waits to get some confirmation from his party, then takes the lead heading down the stairs.

![]() |

Hakime is right behind Pooka... heading down into the darkness, not needing light, but if someone wants to provide some for the others, she won't complain.

![]() |

Can the rest of you update where you are on the map, and put a post in here. Don't go further into the bottom tomb than Pooka and Aramil have already put themselves.

![]() |

ok... even with, not further

![]() |

Anyone behind Adriana can put themselves in that top tomb on the stairs or whereever.

![]() |

I put you as far forward as I could on the map

It has been a while, you were taking 20 on perception upstairs. The bless will have worn off.

Actually, I'm leaving for a business trip for a week on Saturday. There is a chance we can get this wrappted up before then if I push, so...
Umut staggers to the top of the stairs as another wave of necromatic energy pours through the crypt. She has grabbed hold of the scythe.
Four skeletons rise from their crypts...
Will save DC 13 for half damage to Hakime, Adrianna, Gutter, Harylynne
negative energy: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9

Two skeleton attacks on Aramil 2d20 ⇒ (19, 7) = 26

extra damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
The last skeleton closes, but can't get an attack in. It is holding a familiar looking shield - the very present that the group brough with them.
skeletons: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Aramil: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

I still think you have misjudged my HP. I was full health leading into this encounter, which means I should have taken 9 damage total from the negative energy, rather than the 11 I seem to have taken.
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
I take 5 less damage which puts me from 9 HP --> 4 HP
Adriana will channel energy to command undead, obviously only being able to command one of them, so once one skeleton fails its save, ignore the rest. Adriana will point out to the party which one is under her control, and then order it to attack a fellow skeleton.

![]() |

The post two up is wrong.
But I still had Adriana on 2 damage leading into the battle.
saves: 4d20 ⇒ (17, 4, 18, 4) = 43
The upside down skeleton on the map is under the control of Adriana.

![]() |

But I still had Adriana on 2 damage leading into the battle.
I am aware. From the last encounter we had:
Status:
Aramil 4 damage, fatigued
Harlynne, 6 damage, fatigued
Adriana, 6 damage
Hakime, fatigued
Gutter, fatigued
Pooka, 6 damage fatigued
(Luna) 6 damage
and then The Gutter used his healing wand as follows:
Wait ... Gutter has a wand ... who needs some quick healing?
Aramil 4 damage, fatigued clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Harlynne, 6 damage, fatigued clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Adriana, 6 damage clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2, clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Hakime, fatigued
Gutter, fatigued
Pooka, 6 damage fatigued clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
(Luna) 6 damage clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4The Gutter waves his hand in the air as his wand starts to heat up and smoke ...
I had taken 6 damage, then healed 2 on the first use of his wand, and then 4 on the second use of the wand.
4+2=6.
My guess is that either you missed the first use of the wand (and just assumed I healed four), or I had actually taken 8 damage instead of 6 (or I have miscounted), in which case its 100% my fault, I retract my statements and humbly apologise.
