To make my life easier, if you could each put in a single post with:
1: Character name
2: Your name (as you want it to appear on the chronicle sheet)
3: Your faction (note we had may as well use the new faction names for season 6)
4: PFS # for the character
5: Day job roll (or indication you don't have one)
6: starting XP, starting PP, starting Fame, Starting wealth, and what chronicle # this will be for the character.
7: What scenarios has the character completed? (or been credited with)
Try to hold off actual discussion here until we have one post per character with those details (makes life easy for me to make the chronicles for you all at the end).

1: Jal Vaduva
2: Ben Jolly
3: Exchange
4: 121383-1
5: No day job
6: XP 0, Fame 4 (our Sczarni fame transfers, correct?), Wealth 124g 8c, Chronicle ? (only second, got first full level off of Godsmouth Heresy)
7: Godsmouth Heresy (full)

1. Shungur Edge-Of-Sky
2. Eric Santiestevan
3. Liberty's Edge
4. 135388-3
5. No day job.
6. 0 XP, 0 PP, 0 Fame, 38 gp.
7. No scenarios.
You have no idea how long it took to type this. First a cat walked on me, then a small child. I just wanted a little couch time!

2: Jimmy Lomax
3: Grand Lodge or Silver Crusade
4: 125008-1
5: Day Job Roll: +7
6: XP: 2 | PP: 3 | Fame: 3 | Wealth: 582 gp, 5 sp | Chronicle # 3 | 1 boon
7: Library of the Lion | Mists of Mwangi
Considering switching faction, given the opportunity due to season 6 changes.

I should also mention this is the first time I've played in a PBP campaign. I read the PBP guide but if there is anything else I should know please let me know.
The way I understand it you type things you say in character,
Then decide to roll stuff test: 1d20 ⇒ 16.
As a note to Brother Tophor, you have the opportunity to change factions up until the end of S6, so you are in no rush to decide. Also until you start a game at 3+ XP, you also can change for any reason. If you're curious 5-01 advances the season 5 story lines of the Grand Lodge, Osirion (Scarab Sages), and Qadira (Exchange) factions.

Thats okay Valrus, probably the only thing missing is picking a good picture to go with your posts.
@Jal understood about the re-roll. I assume you would only roll if you had the re-roll available? You may just need to remind me of this at the end.

Val (and everyone, really) one of the bigger things about PbP is consistency and momentum. The completion of the game in a timely manner is nearly 100% dependant on all of our commitment to posting often and proactively. Nothing kills a PbP faster than players waiting on each other ... and I'm guessing nobody here wants this game to stall. :)
Brother Tophor
|
Ah, I missed that you wanted us to roll day job up front.
Day Job: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
@Valrus - thanks! I'll probably just stick with Grand Lodge for now, then. I can decide later.

Valrus--that PBP Guide is such a wonderful post. Before I started PBP, I read through some gameplay threads to look at style and mechanics for GM and players, and then dove in. It's been fun.
That being said! My campaigns are all moribund, and PFS does well for speedy and consistent gameplay. Jal, you are totally right about keeping things peppy, in and out of combat.

For most purposes for speed, I post every day, often twice a day. Sometimes life gets in the way, I have three kids and a job to feed them :-)
Sometimes I also travel for work, that plays a little more havok with my posting. In the middle of a combat, I may NPC people who are slowing down the game, but outside, if you are not making skill checks or contributing, well, you're letting the other characters down, but not necessarily slowing down the game itself.
GM Aerondor

I've opened up the gameplay thread so you can do free form stuff to get to know each other - discuss skills, tactics etc in the two weeks downtime we have prior to gameday starting.

I'm not sure where it starts to be honest, so assume Absalom and we can hand-wave relocation at the start of the actual game

Now there's a feat for one's Animal Companion. I was considering a Brawler with a camel for a game. 50' move and a sickening ranged attack? Don't mess with the camels!
That sounds like a delightful place. Maybe they have schwarma.
Mordack Dune
|
1: Character name: Mordack Dune
2: Your name (as you want it to appear on the chronicle sheet): Mordack Dune
3: Your faction (note we had may as well use the new faction names for season 6). See my symbol, if that changed, then yes, I'm taking the replacement.
4: PFS # for the character: #135676-1
5: Day job roll (or indication you don't have one) arcana teacher: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
6: starting XP, starting PP, starting Fame, Starting wealth, and what chronicle # this will be for the character. 3 xp, 4 pp, 4 fame, 1195 gp, but I'm not carrying this on my character, I'm leaving this at my characters home, others that would be 24 pounds of gold weight counted against me, during the course of the scenario.
7: What scenarios has the character completed? (or been credited with): Just crypt of the everflame.

Mordack,
Profession(teacher) should be based off wisdom, not intelligence. If you want to use Int, you should pick a craft not a profession..
Mordack Dune
|
oops, don't know where I got the int from, it was also the wrong modifier even for int.
anyway, it should have been 1d20+6 instead of 8, as I'm using craft (armor) for my profession. Making my total 19 instead of 21.
Edit: made sure to buy the masterwork aritisans tools, to maximize money gained from my job rolls, so the total stays a 21.

Quick update - the PDF has arrived!
BTW I'm in New Zealand, so November the first starts slightly earlier for me! It is also worth noting that I'm travelling for a week in about the third week of November, so my posting rate may decline then.

Tēnā koe Shungur.
I think we are all good. I have a bit of work to do with getting maps ready, but that shouldn't be a biggie.
GM Aerondor
|
Valrus, could you link a picture to your account, so I can include that in maps when they become relevant.
Mordack Dune
|
apparently it looks like I'll be getting a last second pfs chronicle sheet. This will put me to level 3 and give me more on hand gold.
I also put a point into my craft skill, so it is a 22 instead of a 21 now.

Just a day-before check in.
And as a general heads up, I don't think it will completely keep me from posting, but I'l be at my in-laws house tomorrow and through the weekend. I should be able to get a post or two in regardless, and I don't think I'll slow the game down any. Just wanted you all to know if I'm a bit scarce at kickoff. I'l be back to regular posting next week.
GM Aerondor
|
Enjoy. I love my in-laws, fantastic folk.
Wel, it's been seven hours since the start on November the first in my time zone, so... First post is up!
GM Aerondor

No problems. It would be helpful if you linked an avatar to your posting account, I'll be using it later on combat maps.

Do we need any additional gear?
1 Disguise Kit? (50g)
3 Scrolls of Mage Armor? (75g)
3 Potions of Mage Armor, instead? (150g)
Any of these, or something else?
I'll happily pitch in for tone of these options, if the group deems it appropriate.
Jal Vaduva
|
Why are we decking out in Mage Armors?
I'd say we pick up the Disguise kit, some changes of clothes to complete the disguises on the recovered envoys. And maybe a bunch of barrels of ale (5 of them empty, so we can smuggle all dwarves if necessary)?
Empty barrels? A handful gold.
Getting to recreate a classic fantasy escape? Priceless.
Brother Tophor
|
Sounds good. So we have a few strategies:
Smuggling in barrels - cheap
Disguising them - a bit more
Outfitting them for combat - pricey
Thoughts?
Valrus Magewright

I personally don't see the need for any special gear. I may be a bit pessimistic but I'm expecting them to find them in prison cells guarded. I think a quick egress to our boat will be more important than messing with disguises.
Personally I won't be good at disguising myself either.
Mylitta Ianna
|
Worth noting I don't find it likely disguise kits are going to be useful getting these dwarves out exactly, although they might help us sneak in. I am pretty sure there are some harsh penalties when changing key things such as gender / race etc etc which makes it unlikely for the idea to be hugely successful.
Jal Vaduva
|
I was actually thinking the disguises would be a low-cost way of keeping the dwarves 'out of sight' if we get stopped after we retrieve them. I don't think they'll get used in the actual rescue itself.
But if people don't wanna drop gold on it, we can skip it. I just thought it have us one more option.
