Oh yeah, I know exactly what you mean. It's difficult to hear everything your GM is saying in a game store, and I find most expository verbiage is skimmed over. In PbP, it's the highlight.

So, TIL that I've been doing empower wrong the whole time. I did not know that bonuses got the 50% increase.

I did it wrong for a while too, multiplying only the blast dmg, adding bonuses later.

Until i read the total regular result is multiplied to 150%.

Revel in this knowledge, more output vs monsters. :D

I've always been iffy about it because of the text of Empower Spell:

All variable, numeric effects of an empowered spell are increased by half including bonuses to those dice rolls.

But bonuses are constant, not variable, aren't they? I'm not entirely clear on it so I've allowed it thus far, don't like telling PCs they can't do something unless I'm 100% certain.

But it doesn't really answer if things like point blank shot should be added.

D.Arth, sorry but the inspire courage and flagbearer only boost damage on "weapon damage rolls", they will boost to hit but not damage.

Yet weapon focus can be selected for kinetic blast.

Bows shoot arrows as ammunition, kinetic blasts use objects/items as the medium to deliver it with. (ammo?)

Once again, I am wrong.

This faq says that rays get the damage bonus.

Because it was a spell-like, I though it was treated like other magic attacks and I though other magic attacks did not benefit from the damage bonus.

I really enjoy playing with new people and discovering much of what I thought I knew is wrong.

Often enough, i've learned new things by playing or GM'ing. People knew more of things or were more up to date on how things work.

Speaking of updated, Snowball's been adjusted. No more stagger, no more ignoring SR. One of the few attack spells awesome in a repetoire vs spell resistant monsters....gone.

Snowball's nerf was a long time coming, sadly. It was too powerful compared to other level 1 attack spells. I wish they moved it to level 2...
