GM Iff |
Zandu tries to mess with the archivist's mind. His spell cracks the creature's innate resistance to magic, and manages to grab hold. The result is eerie: the archivist doesn't make any sound, but you can see it shuddering from the effect of the spell, until it falls over.
Next comes Ogmios, who follows his opportunistic attack with another successful slam and claw attack, leaving the creature critically damaged.
Writhing on the floor, the Archivist can take no meaningful actions.
Poor archivist...

Take 10 for intimidate 21. Achieved via trait.
GM Iff |
Saleem continues staring, and the Archivist seems properly cowed, even as it shudders from Zandu's spell.
Bottles reaches for the strange silver cube. As soon as he touches it, the magic holding it aloft seems to break. The gnome isn't quick enough to catch it, and the cube breaks upon impact on the ground.
Zandu and Dimira still up for this round. (Finish him!)

Ogmios The 'Big Man' |
Seeing the archivist fall, Ogmios strikes out at the creature that dared impersonate a holy servant of the lady of graves.Taking advantage of its unmoving state he lashes out once more in a flurry, using Jann's deitic guidance.

Zandu the Storyteller |
Seeing their comedy render the archivist unable to act, Zandu lets out a nervous laugh, not sure that would cut it. Atepping forwards, he temporarily interupts his tale to let of a sour note, cutting into the Archivist.
Chord of Shards dc 15 reflex or take damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 can easily avoid Ogmios from the burst, cant move tokens right now
Dimira Kressen |
With her replica lying to the ground, Dimira musters her courage and bravely moves closer. As soon as she has reached the desired position, she channels her arcane energy in her open palms as a burst of flames emanates from them.
"You're not me!" Dimira screams as she casts her spell, hoping it will be enough to put an end to the threat.
__________________________
Casting burning hands. I'm unable to draw the spell's area of effect due to the map, but Dimira should be able to hit the archivist only. DC 17 Reflex save to halve the damage.
Burning hands: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
"Bottles" Lazuli |
...As soon as he touches it, the magic holding it aloft seems to break. The gnome isn't quick enough to catch it, and the cube breaks upon impact on the ground.
"Awww... now I can't find out what it was!"
GM Iff |
Under the physical might of Igmios and the combined spells from Zandu and Dimira, the archivist doesn't stand a chance. And with the defeat of the Archivist, its control over the mindscape ends. The Archivist’s body fades away, and a simple wooden door appears at the edge of the void. the open dooor offers a view of the seance circle back in the material world, including the group of Pathfinders and Wulessa Yuul.
After stepping through the door, you each return to your body and awaken, still clasping hands in the ritual circle, limbs sore from the extended posture. Wulessa Yuul opens her eyes as well, unshed tears welling up in her eyes. She pinches herself, then looks around the circle. "I am so sorry for my error in judgment. This could have gone very wrong, if it weren't for you." She removes her hands from the embrace, and stands up to return the scroll to the chest. She regains her strength as she's doing this, standing a bit taller. "I certainly intend further study of the Monadistic Archive, but clearly more research is needed into proper safeguards. You have my sincerest thanks for the way you acted into the mindscape, and for dealing with the theletos aeon and getting me out of its realm."
Zephyr of Azlant Spire |
Zephyr blinks slowly now that the mindscape has faded. Her muscles feel taut with the pressure of the bowstring that she... isn't holding. Now that feels weird. She slowly disentangles her fingers from the others, and shakes out her arms.
"Well," she says. "Next time you choose to go sailin' that sea, cap'n, ya can leave me on shore, neh? Best of luck to ya, though..."
Saleem Magmum |
Saleem glares at his venture captain and then moves off, bustling about the room.
When he returns, he somehow manages to find a pot of hot tea and pours it out for everyone.
"Tea?"
Jann Ulfenssen |
"Fascinating. A chance to journey into a mind largely presumed to be sane? I could not have asked for such a blessing. Now I can see the depths of the void clearer than ever. And I know what I must do..." Jann trails off, and smiles with a childlike innocence that is horrifying to behold.
"I must go deeper."
Zandu the Storyteller |
Zandu winces and snaps his eyes shut at the harsh note his magic creates only to open them to find himself back in the Venture-Captain's room holding hands. Gracefully letting go he leans back on his cushion and lets it all sink in for a moment.
"Simply Spectacular! A wealth of information and inspiration to be explored, please do call me again if we are to do any more delving, just let it be a planned excursion in future. Tea? I would love some!"
Balancing his tea expertly in one hand, the Varisian draws a quill and furiously scribbles notes in his battered book.
