Hiya, folks! I'm looking forward to playing through this scenario; I've heard good things. I'm also looking forward to having a scenario run by the illustrious Robert "The Alternate" Brookes (congratulations on making the top 4!).

It will be nice to meet all of you (and your characters)!

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

Ha! Thanks, hopefully I like up to your expectations!

Silver Crusade

Hello people - definitely looking forward to play this one. I feel like the whole idea behind the scenario is quite cool - I've never played it, but appreciate the existence of introductory ones.

Also, of course... Even though we know that PFS scenarios are usually limited in scope, this is RPG so everything can happen! Having Robert Brookes as a GM is something out of the ordinary, so that plays an important part also - maybe he likes us so much, he puts us through a long spanning game ;)

Thanks for having me on board!

Seriously, thanks for running the game, Robert. I haven't seen you run anything, but I loved the Ruins of Pathfinder concept.

Hope Mors brings something fun to your game. :)

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

Hey, if this goes over well I might keep running scenarios and you'd all be welcome to stay aboard. I will likely be moving on to Year of the Sky Key scenarios if possible.

If the rest of your game goes the way these first few posts of yours have, then I'd definitely be down with that. You paint a good picture. :)

Silver Crusade

Paladin

Dang! Definitely ;)

For sure! :)

Btw, what are the policies in the PFS for these kind of meetings regarding Companions? :) even though Jorun is small, folks might have something against a Dino in the meeting hall... :)

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

Given that this is Absalom, I doubt it's the first time someone has brought a dinosaur to a meeting. Or, more succinctly, "this ain't their first dinosaur rodeo!"

So, it should be fine. But a neat topic of conversation!

Secretly, I'm hoping that he stumbles in late and laments that lack of places willing to stable a dinosaur. The fantasy equivalent of "I had soooo much trouble finding a parking spot!"

This looks like a really fun group, do you have room for 1 more? I've played a few adventures at my FLGS but don't get to play all that much. I'd like to play this with a new character I made, a human barbarian.

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

Sorry, Noz, we're at 6 now. But when both my tables of this scenario end, I'll more than likely be running another series, so keep an eye out! :)

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

I hope this post didn't seem too rushed, guys. I'm working on getting some things in order for my trip to Paizocon on Thursday! Apologies if I missed any details/responses in the conversation!

I have run into an issue at both work and home and won't be able to post until tomorrow afternoon. Please assume my character and his Dino fried are sitting quietly cross legged listening and observing. :)

Silver Crusade

HP 22/24 :: AC 20 CMD 17 :: Fort +8 Reflex +5 Will +8 :: Perception +2 (Darkvision 60) Initiative +1

I don't think the post was rushed. I'm always a fan of revealing just as much (if not far more) about my character as adventure unrolls around him.

Silver Crusade

Spells updated. Bring some dancing lights for our blind human companions.

Gear updated: picked up a grapple hook, rope, a few torches, some chalk, a bedroll, a water-proof bag (for the chalk and journal), and added a journal to his belongings.

Should be good to go.

Lol. Uh ... thanks, though I (as the group's only human) prepped Light. I updated my spells as well. I've prepped Detect Poison, Light, and Mending as cantrips. I figure the mage can prep Detect Magic (and put it to much better use). Though I guess I could prep Read Magic in place of Mending if we think that's a better way to go for this type of adventure.

Silver Crusade

M Half-Orc Wizard 1; HP 9/9; AC 13; CMD 11; Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +3; Init +2; Perception +5 (+7 with Familiar)

I noticed, but for the moment, Rahk is still under the assumption that Mors is your stereotypical Big Stupid Fighter.

Unfortunately, divination is my opposition school, so I actually do not have detect magic yet. However, with Robert's permission, I could buy a scroll in town and learn it; this would take a half-hour and 17.5g per attempt, assuming I have that much time. Since it's my opposition school, I believe that would be a DC 20 (15 + 0 [spell level]
+ 5 [opposition school]) Spellcraft to successfully hit that target.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20, with a plus two if my familiar can aid another. Nevermind, hit the mark exactly. I'll update my spells once we hit "tomorrow," just in case we run into anything tonight.

EDIT: Oop, technically I need to go back to my original spell listing for the day for read magic if I want to grab that detect magic spell.

HP 22/24 :: AC 20 CMD 17 :: Fort +8 Reflex +5 Will +8 :: Perception +2 (Darkvision 60) Initiative +1

He can be both. :D

Yep, Mors swapped out Detect Magic "cuz there's a mage in the group" ... if it bites us, it bites us. (i'll just hope not too hard)

Just a heads-up guys, it looks like the laptop I planned on bringing to Paizocon isn't functional anymore. This means I won't have access to my map-making software or other essentials while I'm in Seattle for the weekend. We're going to have to take a brief pause until I return on Sunday, but thankfully we're at a decent spot to linger in RP for a little while.

We'll be back up and running sometime Sunday after I return from the Con, and if any of you are going to be out in Seattle feel free to hit me up! I'll be at the Tier 1-5 PFS Season 6 special on Friday night and I'm sure you can catch me wandering around the hotel or at the banquet!

Thanks for bearing with me through this hiccup!

Silver Crusade

M Half-Orc Wizard 1; HP 9/9; AC 13; CMD 11; Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +3; Init +2; Perception +5 (+7 with Familiar)

No worries. I figured we'd likely have some interruptions on one end or the other due to PaizoCon. Have fun, conventioneers!

Just in case there's any confusion, I'm really not a jerk IRL. I just love the concept that Thad is oblivious to the possibility that his 'observations' might be taken as an insult by others. I'm really excited about this group, and this character.

Have fun at PaizoCon; can't wait for 7/7!

OMG REPORTED REPORTED REPORTED!!!!! lol And in the spirit of full disclosure, I AM a jerk. It's a product of work. I make people pay their bills. (Gotta love Accounts Receivable) But I try to have fun with it, so that makes it okay :D

In reference to Brox roleplay, try to see it through the prism of Firefly, or even Guardians of the Galaxy

People, just a heads up.

My girls' Summer vacations have began this week, so my posting may become sparse at times. My apologies in advance if it happens.

I will be usually around, and can probably keep up, but kids + Summer + Vacations = Mostly unpredictable ;)

Silver Crusade

No worries Thaddeus, Helgoron is quite an easy going guy, in spite of his religious dedication - he tends to dismiss more 'insulting' remarks, instead focusing on the 'good' side of people - naive yeah, I know :D

Brox, you just go ahead and be all the roguish half-orc you can be - we can take it ;)

I had planned to put up a few campfire posts over the weekend, but ... July 4th weekend and i have kiddos. So my time wasn't really my own. Sorry.

No 4th of July on my neck of the woods - kids+summer vacations are enough anyway ;)

Paizocon was awesome, awesome, awesome. I got a lot of freelancing contacts and made some great inroads with the Paizo staff. They were all super friendly and I had a great time hanging out with them. The only swag I purchased was Emerald Spire (which is b+!*&in!) and the Numeria setting book (also b!*@*in!)

On to more relevant things!

COMBAT!
So we've entered our first combat encounter. You'll notice I've gone ahead and rolled initiative for the party ahead of time to save table-time. There's some things I'll ask you all to do for me to make combat flow more smoothly. Please carefully read the instructions below:

1 - Initiative Order: In our current battle you'll notice Janira goes first, followed by some of the party, and then the monsters, then the rest of the party. In situations like this, combat is broken up into phases like so:

Phase 1: Janira
Phase 2: Mors, Falvreab, Thaddeus, Brox
Phase 3: Monsters
Phase 4: Helgoron and Rahk

So now that Janira has gone, Mors, Falvreab, Thaddeus, and Brox are all free to go in whatever order they post in. First post, first action. So please be sure to "preview post" before putting up yours, to make sure nobody has gone ahead of you while you're posting.

Once Mors, Falvreab, Thaddeus, and Brox have all gone I will run the monsters turn, then it will be Helgoron and Rahk's turn.

Also, you'll notice (unless you catch this post before I edit it all in) that there is new information above the thread (right below the Confirmation title). This includes a link to the current battle map and a spoiler tag with the basic stats of the monsters. (HP, DR [if any], AC, Saves).

When taking your turns, please consult this information and confirm your own attack rolls, determine your final damage, and follow the format for combat posts listed below. It will help speed up combat immensely!

2 - Read, Read, Read
Be sure to read the bottom blue-colored info I post on each of my combat turns. This can include information like party buffs, debuffs, knowledge check options, or other such important tools. If you forget the apply a buff to your turn, that responsibility is on you!

3 - Formatting
To make combat easy to read and easy for me to manage, I ask that you follow the below format for turns in combat. This, for example, is a turn involving lots of different actions and combat checks (with greatly reduced flavor text):
==================

Janira - Round 1

Quickly leaping into battle, Janira draws her comically large earthbreaker and enters a vicious combat stance, charging one of the fleas like a little psychopath!
___________
COMBAT

Free Action: Draw earthbreaker as part of move
Full-Round Action: Charge Flea @ P8
Attack Roll Charge Attack (Earthbreaker): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35 (hit!)
>> Damage: 2d6 + 18 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 18 + (6) = 34 (29 damage after DR)

===================

You don't need to be exact to the format I use, but something similar so I know where to look for things. Break each of your actions out, clearly indicate what your attacks are. As long as I can tell what's going on it should be fine! If you have any questions, just let me know!

By the way, I want to let you all know how awesome you are for your post rates. The S&S PbP I'm in has spent almost a week on a single round of combat.

Silver Crusade

HP 22/24 :: AC 20 CMD 17 :: Fort +8 Reflex +5 Will +8 :: Perception +2 (Darkvision 60) Initiative +1

Lol. Clearly i hadn't read those short stories before I had Mors respond about it. :)

Silver Crusade

HP 22/24 :: AC 20 CMD 17 :: Fort +8 Reflex +5 Will +8 :: Perception +2 (Darkvision 60) Initiative +1

Robert, in general, would you prefer who ahead and post our actions at the top if a subsequent round if an enemy doesn't break it up? Or are you generally going to do a round wrap up narrative before that?

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

I think it makes sense for the sake of expediting things. So it's fine if you roll through to the top of next round if no enemies are going ahead of you.

Silver Crusade

HP 22/24 :: AC 20 CMD 17 :: Fort +8 Reflex +5 Will +8 :: Perception +2 (Darkvision 60) Initiative +1

Just a heads-up for the tieflings in the group, I'm hoping to get this scenario done by the August 14th cutoff date so those of you who don't have a Tiefling boon chronicle sheet can keep these wonderful characters!

For those unaware of what's happening, check out This post.

Not going into much detail regarding my opinion as to what is going to happen with Aasimars and Tieflings, but in any case thanks Robert, I am hoping to keep this one up and running ;)

If we manage to make it there I'm probably going to throw one of my GM credits on my 1st level tiefling bloodrager, so as to keep it around :)
