Rahk Gravelfist |
Hiya, folks! I'm looking forward to playing through this scenario; I've heard good things. I'm also looking forward to having a scenario run by the illustrious Robert "The Alternate" Brookes (congratulations on making the top 4!).
It will be nice to meet all of you (and your characters)!
Helgoron |
Hello people - definitely looking forward to play this one. I feel like the whole idea behind the scenario is quite cool - I've never played it, but appreciate the existence of introductory ones.
Also, of course... Even though we know that PFS scenarios are usually limited in scope, this is RPG so everything can happen! Having Robert Brookes as a GM is something out of the ordinary, so that plays an important part also - maybe he likes us so much, he puts us through a long spanning game ;)
Thanks for having me on board!

This looks like a really fun group, do you have room for 1 more? I've played a few adventures at my FLGS but don't get to play all that much. I'd like to play this with a new character I made, a human barbarian.

Mors Buolgun |
Spells updated. Bring some dancing lights for ourblindhuman companions.
Lol. Uh ... thanks, though I (as the group's only human) prepped Light. I updated my spells as well. I've prepped Detect Poison, Light, and Mending as cantrips. I figure the mage can prep Detect Magic (and put it to much better use). Though I guess I could prep Read Magic in place of Mending if we think that's a better way to go for this type of adventure.
Rahk Gravelfist |
I noticed, but for the moment, Rahk is still under the assumption that Mors is your stereotypical Big Stupid Fighter.
Unfortunately, divination is my opposition school, so I actually do not have detect magic yet. However, with Robert's permission, I could buy a scroll in town and learn it; this would take a half-hour and 17.5g per attempt, assuming I have that much time. Since it's my opposition school, I believe that would be a DC 20 (15 + 0 [spell level]
+ 5 [opposition school]) Spellcraft to successfully hit that target.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20, with a plus two if my familiar can aid another. Nevermind, hit the mark exactly. I'll update my spells once we hit "tomorrow," just in case we run into anything tonight.
EDIT: Oop, technically I need to go back to my original spell listing for the day for read magic if I want to grab that detect magic spell.

Just a heads-up guys, it looks like the laptop I planned on bringing to Paizocon isn't functional anymore. This means I won't have access to my map-making software or other essentials while I'm in Seattle for the weekend. We're going to have to take a brief pause until I return on Sunday, but thankfully we're at a decent spot to linger in RP for a little while.
We'll be back up and running sometime Sunday after I return from the Con, and if any of you are going to be out in Seattle feel free to hit me up! I'll be at the Tier 1-5 PFS Season 6 special on Friday night and I'm sure you can catch me wandering around the hotel or at the banquet!
Thanks for bearing with me through this hiccup!
Thaddeus Silverhorn |
Just in case there's any confusion, I'm really not a jerk IRL. I just love the concept that Thad is oblivious to the possibility that his 'observations' might be taken as an insult by others. I'm really excited about this group, and this character.
Have fun at PaizoCon; can't wait for 7/7!
Brox RedGloves |
OMG REPORTED REPORTED REPORTED!!!!! lol And in the spirit of full disclosure, I AM a jerk. It's a product of work. I make people pay their bills. (Gotta love Accounts Receivable) But I try to have fun with it, so that makes it okay :D
In reference to Brox roleplay, try to see it through the prism of Firefly, or even Guardians of the Galaxy
Helgoron |
No worries Thaddeus, Helgoron is quite an easy going guy, in spite of his religious dedication - he tends to dismiss more 'insulting' remarks, instead focusing on the 'good' side of people - naive yeah, I know :D
Brox, you just go ahead and be all the roguish half-orc you can be - we can take it ;)

Paizocon was awesome, awesome, awesome. I got a lot of freelancing contacts and made some great inroads with the Paizo staff. They were all super friendly and I had a great time hanging out with them. The only swag I purchased was Emerald Spire (which is b+!*&in!) and the Numeria setting book (also b!*@*in!)
On to more relevant things!
COMBAT!
So we've entered our first combat encounter. You'll notice I've gone ahead and rolled initiative for the party ahead of time to save table-time. There's some things I'll ask you all to do for me to make combat flow more smoothly. Please carefully read the instructions below:
1 - Initiative Order: In our current battle you'll notice Janira goes first, followed by some of the party, and then the monsters, then the rest of the party. In situations like this, combat is broken up into phases like so:
Phase 1: Janira
Phase 2: Mors, Falvreab, Thaddeus, Brox
Phase 3: Monsters
Phase 4: Helgoron and Rahk
So now that Janira has gone, Mors, Falvreab, Thaddeus, and Brox are all free to go in whatever order they post in. First post, first action. So please be sure to "preview post" before putting up yours, to make sure nobody has gone ahead of you while you're posting.
Once Mors, Falvreab, Thaddeus, and Brox have all gone I will run the monsters turn, then it will be Helgoron and Rahk's turn.
Also, you'll notice (unless you catch this post before I edit it all in) that there is new information above the thread (right below the Confirmation title). This includes a link to the current battle map and a spoiler tag with the basic stats of the monsters. (HP, DR [if any], AC, Saves).
When taking your turns, please consult this information and confirm your own attack rolls, determine your final damage, and follow the format for combat posts listed below. It will help speed up combat immensely!
2 - Read, Read, Read
Be sure to read the bottom blue-colored info I post on each of my combat turns. This can include information like party buffs, debuffs, knowledge check options, or other such important tools. If you forget the apply a buff to your turn, that responsibility is on you!
3 - Formatting
To make combat easy to read and easy for me to manage, I ask that you follow the below format for turns in combat. This, for example, is a turn involving lots of different actions and combat checks (with greatly reduced flavor text):
==================
Janira - Round 1
Quickly leaping into battle, Janira draws her comically large earthbreaker and enters a vicious combat stance, charging one of the fleas like a little psychopath!
___________
COMBAT
Free Action: Draw earthbreaker as part of move
Full-Round Action: Charge Flea @ P8
Attack Roll Charge Attack (Earthbreaker): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35 (hit!)
>> Damage: 2d6 + 18 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 18 + (6) = 34 (29 damage after DR)
===================
You don't need to be exact to the format I use, but something similar so I know where to look for things. Break each of your actions out, clearly indicate what your attacks are. As long as I can tell what's going on it should be fine! If you have any questions, just let me know!

Mors Buolgun |
Robert, in general, would you prefer who ahead and post our actions at the top if a subsequent round if an enemy doesn't break it up? Or are you generally going to do a round wrap up narrative before that?

Just a heads-up for the tieflings in the group, I'm hoping to get this scenario done by the August 14th cutoff date so those of you who don't have a Tiefling boon chronicle sheet can keep these wonderful characters!
For those unaware of what's happening, check out This post.
