Holy Toledo, I'd forgotten about this one! Remind me of the level range? At the moment, I've got the following characters available and ready:
a level 2 Dhampir Magus
a level 6 Elf Alchemist
a level 6 Wayang Illusionist
and a level 8 Elf Witch

![]() |

DM just letting you know that I'm actually lvl 7 now I played him a few weekends ago and leveled up. Just clarifying because in the spreadsheet I listed myself at level 6

![]() |

Character sheet almost finished.
Just a forwarning though, this character boasts a ridiculous amount of immediate action thingamajigs, and is nigh useless when it comes to combat damage dealing. He's just utility, utility, utility.

![]() |

Hi! this is my only available player currently. He is level 5, but I can vow out in favor of some reserves.
Otherwise if you really need me, I can go in with a Kyra level 7 pregen.

Sounds great to me. Much as I enjoy combat, I abhor the "combat uber alles" belief system.

![]() |

Well then you won't like me too much. Polearm master with Greater Trip and toppling smash. So very much a trip build, prevents people from coming in close too easily. Many immediate actions to trip and attack. Also, higher strength to deal the damage. Not much good for much else, but tries to protect the party. Not full murder hobo, though. Won't even bother with weak foes except to get them to stop annoying him, haha.

![]() |

Well then you won't like me too much.
I didn't say anything about those who specialize in combat - just those who deny the significance of anything else. :)

![]() |

Well, fighter. Not many skill points to spare on much. I do try to keep some relevant knowledges trained. Not optimal, but still. Also, will try to intimidate rather than diplomacize, but patient enough to let others try first.
Player-wise, I hate the idea of murder hobos, so try to keep Baldwyn from being it. I like to think of Baldwyn like Jayne Cobb. Sure he's a brute, but you know somewhere inside him is respect and goodness. It just takes a bit to show itself. =)

![]() |

This is actually excellent; Razmand has antagonize feat, which would effectively lure enemies into traps if the terrain allows it. That could provide Baldwyn an optimal circumstance for tripping and slaughtering.
Things to note regarding Razmand's abilities:
Warning: When a preacher’s ally within line of sight would be hit by a melee or ranged attack, she may call out a warning to that ally, and the attacker must reroll the attack and use the results of the second roll. The ally must be able to hear the preacher and must not be helpless for this ability to have any effect.
Part of the Preacher archetype, Razmand can do this twice per day. Intriguingly, this option is a free action and not an immediate action.
Also, Razmand has trap spotter.
Whenever a rogue with this talent comes within 10 feet of a trap, she receives an immediate Perception skill check to notice the trap. This check should be made in secret by the GM.
And Defiant Luck. And Inexplicable Luck.
He has just leveled up and I've yet to decide one feat for him. Since he is so organic, I haven't planned anything head. I'm thinking about getting bestow luck, but I'm not sure.

Rainy Day Ninja signed up for part 2 only, so there are currently five players (incl. Eldon). It's a season 3 scenario and with five player we would have to play the lower tier (APL 7.4 would be rounded to 7, which is between the subtiers).
I will ask the waiting list player if he/she wants to join so we can play up. Otherwise it will be boring.

![]() |

I've got some other annoying news: I wasn't sure because the full title was left out, but I've played Part 1 of this - with this character, no less. I have not, however, played Part 2; of course, if I play Part 2 now, I won't be eligible for the Boon, which I'm sure is cool, whatever it is.
Idea: Could I maybe DM this Scenario (Baerlie replacing me as a player), then flip back in to play Part 2? I would need a little help, since it would be my first time DMing online (it's been a couple years, but I have DM'ed before).

It's fine for me, but it's something the players have to decide.
If Balacertar joins we should play upper tier, if not we should play lower tier. APL is currently at 7.17, I could join with a level 8 ranger.

![]() |

I am Balacertar, I could not join with Pandora at this point, so I presented Eldon instead.
I have no problem making Vladek the GM but I have plenty of games at my hands right now. Thus if you have already a valid table, I prefer to vow out at the moment.

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

This will be my debut DMing online, so I'll need help (a bit of "puppeteering" if you will, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!) - also, do I need to get my own copy of the adventure, or could you share that?

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

Nifty, thanks - will it appear in Downloads, or what?

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

Okay, anything else I need to know or do at the moment regarding the transition to online DMing?

GM Deussu |

Read these:
Building a Better Doomed Hero: Painlord's Advanced Play-by-Post Play
DH's Guide to Play By Post gaming
And I can't stress the requirement of posting at least once a day enough. It's what keeps games living and moving forward. Too often I see the posts deteriorate into one line nonsense because people feel their contribution to the game is nonexistent due to lack of feedback and responses.

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

I meant stuff related to the technical aspects of operating combat maps, reporting the session, and giving out Chronicles - other than that, I think I know what I'm doing, thank you very much. Frankly, I hate these "gaming guides" that I see all over the place written by people who are so arrogant as to tell people how to think and play before they can get a chance to do so for themselves.

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

Here's an example of something I need to know: How can I delete Vladek and my primary avatar from the character roster, since they're Not Appearing In This Film?

![]() |

Go to the Campaign Info page, and edit the campaign. Scroll down to see a list of check boxes. Uncheck those "Not Appearing In This Film".
I suggest using Google Drive as the primary storage for all additional files, combat maps, and chronicles. When using maps, utilize Google Slides over Drawing, since mobile devices like Slides more.
And regarding those guides, well, in my first game I too ignored those, stating them as "blatantly obvious" and proceeded to run the game in my own style. Afterwards I learned my way of doing was not the best; you have to remember those are guides, not rules. A more standardized environment is for the benefit of everyone. In one game, two players had used to write in past tense, which made it awkward when some where writing in present and some in the past. Understandably it made the story look a little crooked.
Thing is I like to read the games as stories, so even grammar is important. Many players don't use quotes when saying something, only bold the text. Something that bothers me, but what I feel I have no say in.

Fair enough.

"What idiot doesn't think grammar is important?" Is my reaction to this - and yes, you're supposed to read the games as stories; that's what they are. Anyone who thinks otherwise is, at best, playing a fundamentally different game.

I'm afraid I have to remove the characters as I'm the creator of this campaign.
Done in a moment!

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

It does seem like my primary avatar - specifically mine - keeps seeming to show up in the character roster, even when I don't put any posts in the game under that name. I don't want that - any idea why it happens?

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

Okay, please bear with me, folks. Now we get to the stuff I actually need help with.
I've got the adventure, it has the map of the tomb - now how do I put it on here?

![]() |

I have no idea, sorry :( I removed Mr. Hiding and Vladek from the character list. That's all I can do I think.

I'm DMing In Your Closet |

Don't you? I assume you know how to do it when you're the DM - do you mean you'd have to put the map up too, since you created the thread?
Is this whole process perhaps much easier to understand and do when you're the game thread's intended DM? :P

![]() |

Yes, it's much easier when you are the creator of the campaign. And I'm not sure if this is even managable by the GM. If you mean the dropdown where you select the name you want to post as, I think it always shows the primary avatar at the standard selection.
If you create the google slide or drawing or whatever map tool you want and send me the link, I can link it to the thread.

Yes, I mean this - but how do what I've seen all the other DMs do and put the map from the adventure online?

Baerlie will have to go to Campaign Info and add it there. You can reclaim the control of the Campaign writing an email to the Community managers as explained in the Online Campaigns forum. But given this will be just a single scenario campaign, and we have here the current controller, it should be ok. You can add the link to the map under your GM alias name (go edit in your profile and write the link in the race field for example). Only action Baerlie will have to take is to close the Campaign once finished.
As for the Guides, your sentence can be very easily rewritten to "Frankly, I hate these campaigns that I see all over the place written by people who are so arrogant as to think and play as if they know already everything before they can get a chance to do so for themselves."
As Deussu pointed out to you, those are just guides, you do not have to follow them as rules, and you are expected to add your own experience and thoughts to your games. Discussion and sharing experiences is the best way to advance in knowledge and techniques. Having your own ideas and implement them is the road to creativity. And yet, closing up into your own thoughts and avoid learning from others and experience sharing has never been a good start for anything though.
An arrogant statement, yet I hope you see the wisdom on it.

Everybody's different. One man's meat is another man's poison, some people can't eat meat because they don't have any teeth, others can not only eat meat but also go out and hunt their own meat, others think all meat is inherently poison, and still others are clever enough to develop prototype replicator technology that transmutes poison into meat. /sillymetaphor
What is truly arrogant (and not wise at all), however, is assuming everyone thinks the same way and on the same level, or even that they ought to think the same way and on the same level, and making prejudiced, detriment-of-the-doubt assumptions about how other people think based on some hackneyed cultural norm that has little or nothing to do with most actual people. Closed-mindedness is a product of joining and adhering to a group standard, and open-mindedness the logical outcome of individual thought - not the other way around, which has been exhaustively proven to be a lethal falsehood.
I truly believe these "guides" do more harm than good, discouraging individual learning, encouraging narrow-mindedness and dogmatism (even if individual writers don't intend this, this seems to happen anyway due to snowballing groupthink after the fact), and impoverishing the overall sum of languages and ideas. I wish people would stop writing them.

I fail to see what is fundamentally different in the guides opposed to the style of play. It points out basics of PbP, suggested formatting methods (bolding, cursive, spoiler tags etc.), and examples of what kind of speech is most likely preferable.
1) @ Minmaximus: “Can I see your sword?”
2) To Minmaximus “Can I see your sword?”
3) Psioney asks Minmaximus if he can borrow his sword.
4) Psioney walks over to where Minmaximus eating and asks “Can I borrow your sword?”
A GM is, however, the ultimate decider. If we are to not bold our speech, then so be it. If we are to write in past tense, so be it.

Yes, I mean this - but how do what I've seen all the other DMs do and put the map from the adventure online?
Do you know how to create a google drawing or slide? You can usually just copy & paste the map from the pdf document to the google thing.

I'm trying, but it doesn't seem like I can do that. It seems to be part of the document and not recognized as an image at all.
@Razmand: You kind of lost me there, but I think we all respect the value of grammar here. Let's just say we're done with all that, shall we? I've DMed Organized Play before, just never online.
In other news, I've got the map. Next hurdle: How do I put your character portraits on? I know how to use the Image tool to search for images, but I doubt that will get me these specific avatars.

![]() |

Now that I reread my message I don't understand it either.
Regardless, yes, grammar's important and the game's a story. Guess we are on the same page after all. :)
To include our character portraits it's best to copy the link location by right clicking the avatar image, and then on the Google Slide page Insert an image by URL, paste the copied link location, then scale down to fit the map. If you want to be fancy, you can crop the image round, looks a bit cleaner IMHO.

Gotcha - Smile, You're on Closet Camera!!!
Now then, because neither Baerlie nor I have actually done this yet, let's have everyone give me their:
Pathfinder number
Faction
initiative modifier
Day Job roll
If your character were an ice cream flavor, which would they be?
Zorro, you're kinda going to want to add your character sheet specifics to your profile.

![]() |

Player name: Beatrice Pscheidl
Character name: Elenial Windwalker
Pathfinder Number: 123480-1
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Initiative modifier: +6
Day Job roll: Craft bows: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Elenial would be apple flavor I think :D
If you like I can add the initiative rolls to the campaign info tab, you just have to copy & paste it into the text field when a fight starts.
And I added the map link above also.
And I have to say sorry in advancce for using bad grammar. I'm not a native speaker.

Apple ice cream? I don't think I've ever run into that - even though it seems like a pretty sensible flavor to make, come to think of it.

Can't hurt. Sure, thanks.
And I have to say sorry in advancce for using bad grammar. I'm not a native speaker.
Your grammar seems to be just fine, good heavens. I really wish I knew more than one language (well, okay, I know Orwellian-American English too, but I wish I didn't).

Player Name: Jacob Ogden
Character: Ramesses
Pathfinder # 29609-1

Pathfinder number - 63517-3
Faction - Soverign Court
initiative modifier - +8
Day Job roll - None. Treasure Map boon. Will check off third box after part 1 and renew with 4 PP.
If your character were an ice cream flavor, which would they be? - Spumoni

Player name: Stefan Sauerland
Character name: Razmand Nevantes
Pathfinder number: 2205-5
