Pavo: the Crimson Nuthatch

My only concern with the "Closed" sign plan is that it can be defeated by a single window. Granted, I don't see any on the map, so that's reassuring.

As an alternate Pavo can wait outside disguised as the first one to arrive and pass off some BS story and send them away...

Open-ended situations can be a little difficult to understand what/how to do, so if you have questions, please ask them here in discussion. I check discussion more frequently than gameplay, so you'll get a faster answer that way.
I'll give another day for questions or actions to be posted, but am then pushing the action forward.

Sorry Granta -- I've been debating what to try to do, with only 3 trained skill not a lot of options to deal with nosey local law enforcement...

I wonder if we could tell the guards about the tavern owner's illicit activities thus getting them to arrest him removing everyone from the bar and actually closing it.
Could I attempt a Sense Motive to get a read on the guards to see if they would go for it.

You don't have to use social skills. For example, Anastasia could use Profession (librarian) to bore the guards with conversation about esoteric books or Kane could try to convert them with a Knowledge (religion) check. Though you do have to come up with your own ideas, and can't use mine :-p
Let's give Kirrote and Anastasia the rest of the weekend to figure out something. It could make a big difference.

Yeah thought about trying to convince them they need to take advantage of a business opportunity with Profession Merchant; but it seemed a little cheesy.

In RL I'm sitting here at my desk trying to think about the best action to take. In a RL game we would discuss it face to face (the players) and figure out a consistent course of action. In PbP that seems a lot harder to do. But in a way, that is more fun. It is more "realistic" since in-game, the PCs can't really call a timeout while they huddle to make the next plan. On the other hand, since our PC's actions affect other players, it is not nice to just take an action without some coordination. I think we've all sat at a RL table where there is a player who always does his own thing without any regard to the team. That's annoying.
So, that being said, I think that Kirrote is going to go with the same plan that _he_ thought they had. That was, try to convince people that the place is closed so that the agents don't meet. In Kirrote's mind, the guard puts that at risk because the guard might notice people being turned away and then start asking questions.
I have a few options:
1) create a scene with Anastasia and try to get the guard involved (CMB to grapple Anastasia and drag her outside)
2) "bump" the guard to have him spill his drink all over his clothes (CMB check?) and then he'll leave
3) Intimidate the guard and try to force him to leave
4) Go to the bar across the street and start a brawl to get the guard's attention (I don't know if I have enough time for that).
Any preferences from you all?

I say do it...Kane will walk outside and once you start the fight along the way, I'll run in and alert the guards. If I'm able or if not perhaps Anastasia can.

To be clear I was attempting to justify using Sense Motive as my skill roll. Obviously that did not work. I will have to try something else.
Perhaps I can come up with something to support Kirrote's plan.

Sorry I've been forgetting to hide my rolls in spoilers..I'll try to get back in the habit.

Just a heads up. I recieved a phone call today informing me that my uncle died. I don't know when the funeral is or if it will impact my ability to post. If needed just bot me. Once we think combat is going to start Zyrethian's first move will be to cast Mage Armor if feasible. probably use his school power second to bump the AC of anyone near enough to him.
EDIT:
I will try to post once I know more.

Hey all,
I can handle myself through Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday may get sketchy for me as the funeral is late Tuesday, but I will try to post both days.
I'm doing okay and appreciate you working around me.

Not sure if I needed to roll to know if there is a suitable temple nearby. If not feel free to use that knowledge local as an aid another for the gather info attempt. I perceive using knowledge local for gather info as less talking to people and more knowing or having heard or noticed things. Zyrethian is not a friendly guy. HE's kind of a jerk but self aware enough to know it so he would hold back from speaking in diplomatic situations for fear of making things worse. So that is why I am not opting to assist otherwise with the gather info

Going to be out for a good portion of today, I will try to post again tonight if there is anything for Z to respond to.

I've got a scroll of Unseen Servant and Floating disk. That should help move boxes if we need to right?
Zyrethian Voninquel
|
Copying Kirrote's question to the discussion thread
If we move a 5-ft square of crates in front of a single door, does that appear to block the door so that it can't be entered in through?
GM Granta
|
Yes, a stack of crates effectively counts as a wall in its square. And the scroll of unseen servant wouldn't help, its strength score is just too low. Here is how I would rule on floating disk: It adds 5 minutes to the time, but allows the stack to be moved any distance. That said, I don't think you'll need to move enough boxes to make burning the scroll worthwhile.

I'd like to force entry through one way if possible. Some of the normal doors to lessen suspicion, and the people coming won't necessary know about all the secret ones.
Kirrote
|
I'm thinking the same thing.
1) Block off the top of the stairs, then we don't have to worry about the lower area
2) Block off the side door in the main area
3) Place the bear trap in the office. If anyone comes in that way, we'll throw the smoke sticks in there so they can't see the trap
4) If we have time, move crates to make walls around the area just inside the main door.
Zyrethian Voninquel
|
Can we rig up the smoke sticks so that they trigger when someone opens the door?
I am on board with blocking as many entrances as possible. Forcing them through 1 entrance if possible.
Zyrethian Voninquel
|
Are the red doors not there as doors? Did you say that somewhere?
Zyrethian Voninquel
|
Granta, you never told us what we needed to identify the potion.
Kirrote
|
I'm fine with Pavo's plan and map. I think there are 42 pushes needed to get all of the crates where he mapped out. There are 6 of us and we can each do 6 pushes per hour. I did a bunch of strength checks to try and reduce that and only made 1!
However, since we have several hours, I think that we have plenty of time.
Is everyone agreed? If so, let's put the red x's and crate blocks on the map.
Zyrethian Voninquel

Granta, will I be able to fire down into the dock from my position?

sounds good
