More ysoki on this station? Those creatures must breed like, well, rats!

Ah, the vaat gardens, I know it well

Scarab Sages

The station passageways open into an enormous sunken pool filled with a riotous growth of plants. A narrow walkway leading to other parts of Downlow encircles the overgrown vat, and a spire of some kind of machinery stands in its center. For such a busy section of Downlow, the area is surprisingly quiet. Two ladders and a steep staircase pierce the foliage and lead down into the vat.

game crunch:The floor of the Vat Garden is 15 feet lower than the walkway surrounding it, and the foliage is so thick that creatures in the vat have total concealment (50% miss chance) from creatures up on the walkway. Within the vat, the orderly rows of plants provide concealment (20% miss chance) to opponents more than 10 feet away; enemies closer than this do not benefit from concealment.
The two ladders and steep staircase leading down into the vat are easy to navigate, but the PCs can also climb down the plants themselves with a successful DC 15 Athletics check.

A lanky person dressed in a flight suit and wrapped in a concealing cloak is sifting through the plants’ roots, adding skulls to a small pile already assembled.

Nearby are 3 human's wearing armor and carrying hammers.

For now it seems they haven't noticed you yet.

Shots ring out from Googles and Spider-pig...and now Tamon. so much for wait for diplomacy to fail first But a smile comes across Flashbang’s face and shifts to a more serious demeanor. I guess we can do this the hard way!

“Hold in the pit!! We have you surrounded! We are seeking Exegara for questioning about some insignias you recently sold. For now, we just want information as long as you did not obtain them illegally or through some sort of foul play with our companions. Now I know your kind and your muscle usually have a negative reputation for fighting over talking but you do find yourselves at quite a disadvantage. The first shot and warning shots were to show we are serious about what we have come for. It is up to you how we proceed.”

As if to prod the situation further, Flashbang adds “So by the look on your face and the orders to your hired help, it seems like we are either going to have some sort of mean comments, followed by fighting, followed by your hired help’s deaths, followed by your surrender OR some sort of long sullen silence, followed by fighting followed by your hired help’s deaths, followed by your surrender. As far as I can tell by the general description..anyone firing down at anything has the 50 miss chance. I think it's meant to discourage gunning down everything from a distance. It's even more unfair since firing back up does not have the 50% miss chance - at most it's a 20% miss chance

Scarab Sages

Mincey moves to the edge of walkway, attempts to climb down a plant, and sneak up on a thug...and after a few seconds of trying manages to get down

Skeek takes aim with his rifle and shoots at the nearest figure hitting him right in the shoulder.

Spider-Pig mimics the actions of its master, firing at the same target...but other then some leaves getting blasted it doesn't seem to hit anything flesh.

Tamon takes aim at the red armored thug and fires a shot directly into the foiliage

Flashbang looks quite menacingly as he get's ready to smack anyone back down that tries to get up..but if he's going to frighten anyone into not approaching....no. Most likely not

NPC-ing Neb in to keep things moving
Neb goes fully on the defensive, unsure on what's going on as people start to fire down into the bushes.

The thugs all move to below the stairs, aiming azumith laser pistols up and trying to hit to shoot back

To hit EAC Flashbang: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8 1d100 ⇒ 15
To hit EAC Flashbang: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12 1d100 ⇒ 51
To hit EAC Flashbang: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7 1d100 ⇒ 57

..but it seems he was a lot more intimidating then he first appeared as all shots go wide

The cloaked figure tries to hide behind some bushes and also fires a azumith pistol at flashbang

To hit EAC Flashbang: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 1d100 ⇒ 21

but the results are the same...getting a branch in the way proves to much of a problem for the shooter and her aim is thrown off.

You roll a d8 to determine the direction which it scatters and then a d6 to determine how many squares it scatters. Then it explodes as normal in that new location.

Tamon calls forth mystical projectiles, one for each thug. They strike unerringly.

From beneath the trees, Mincey hears that the battle has begun. She draws her knife and makes her way through the undergrowth and brush.

Neb moves up to the edge and trick attacks the guard on the left Blue I take it?. The movement of his arc pistol to quick for the thug to follow and he get's hit right between the eyes.

Flashbang descends the ladder and continues to move next to the leader demanding her surrender....she just sneers at him in return.

Skeek and spider pig continue to rain down fire on..well, something down in the foliage.

Keskodai pulls and throws his grenade at the square between the three goons but it scatters

Grenade miss rules:
Missing with a Thrown Weapon
If you miss on a ranged attack with a thrown weapon, the weapon
lands in a random square or grid intersection as appropriate near
your target. To determine where it lands, roll 1d8. This determines
the initial misdirection of the throw, with 1 falling short (off-target in a straight line toward the thrower), and 2 through 8 rotating around the target creature or grid intersection in a clockwise direction, as illustrated in the diagram above. After you’ve determined the misdirection of the throw, roll 1d4. The result is how many squares away in that direction the weapon lands.

1d4 ⇒ 1
If I do this right, with 1 being between you and your intended square..you end up short of what you were aiming for and hit the square with the green thug..still blasting all 3 thugs
hitting one of the thugs in the leg before exploding
E damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
blasting all 3 thugs and just barely missing Flashbang

The cloaked figure pulls back her hood and reveals a woman's face with a waaaayyyy to big of a mouth filled with muuuuch more sharp teeth then look health being next to as she tries to bite Flashbang
to hit KAC Flashbang: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
damage if hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
as Flashbang get's bitten he feels his muscles start to go ridgid
Fort save DC 12 or be paralyzed for 1d2 ⇒ 1 rounds

"Do what I pay you guys for and get this clown off of me!"

The thugs move towards Flashbang swinging their hammers as they keep their blasters in their other hands..just in case they need to shoot something later.

In case Flashbang isn't paralysed his AOO would trigger..and miss

To hit KAC Flashbang: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 (if paralyzed, your Dex modifier is –5, and you cannot move but can take mental actions. As far as I can tell that also counts for your AC..so these might hit)
B damage if hit: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
To hit KAC Flashbang: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
B damage if hit: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

The 3th thug stays where he is and continue to fire up to the top of the ladder, trying to discourage more people coming down

to hit EAC [dice=: 1d2 ⇒ 1Neb1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 171d100 ⇒ 18
Fire damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 2
But the thugs aim is slightly off as he hits a branch and his blast is deflected

My bad, sorry about that, was relying on memory of how it was adjudicated at a previous table.

Since almost everyone seems to have their own way of rolling the miss chance I'm wondering if everyone is aware that there's actually a definition of how to roll the miss chance. If you have X% miss chance you roll a D100 and if you roll X or lower, it's a miss (page 253 of the rule book). It doesn't matter a whole lot in the long run, but consistency between everyone makes it easier to see at a glance what's going on

I'll pick up what happens next when i know if you accept the surrender of decide to keep fighting
