Sajan goes and gets the torc off the statue.

Shel completes the studying of shelf 7 but does not find anything of especial interest.

Sard attempts to study the tablets that have been found on shelf 6 but is not quite able to ascertain the fullness of their meaning. If there's anyone who can cast guidance on Sard that will give him the 25 he needs to open the spoiler. Sard also makes some headway on the cataloguing of shelf 1.

Ali lays his hands on Sajan, who feels the fatigue miraculously lifting from his body. Ali also works on studying the tablets but is also not quite able to make out their deepest meaning. Nevertheless, he carries them over to the area in the northwest of the complex with the three tables and finds - perhaps not surprisingly - that the final table (the one titled "rebirth") fits perfectly in the slot on the first table. Do you leave it there?

Sajan moves back to the area with the large statue and attempts to leap up to get the torc from it. Although he uses his monkly skills to make an almost superhuman leap into the air, it is not quite high enough to reach the torc. Not only that, but as he scrambles to find his footing on the polished smooth stone, he just barely misses his foothold and finds himself falling back to the ground.

Falling damage to Sajan: 1d6 ⇒ 4

At this point, please all be sure that your position on the map is updated to the appropriate place for whatever action you are taking.

Sajan is by far the worst monk I have ever heard of, but I have heard of him lol. Also because I have slow fall, 30ft, I shouldn't take the damage from the fall, or any other negative consequences. They give Sajan 50ft of silk rope, but I'm not aware of any particular way of throwing it for it to tie itself barring some sort of Equipment Trick. I suppose that it might be long enough to wrap around part of the statue and then fall back down, functionally giving two halves of rope, both 25ft in length that he could climb at the same time.

Sajan begins retrying his previous attempt to grab the torc, hopefully using the arm/hand as a stepping point.

"Success is simply a test of time."

Enora has completed the moving of shelf 4, which is now available for cataloguing. Enora makes significant progress on cataloguing the same shelf.

Sard flies up to the top of the statue but finds that he is not strong enough to wrest the torc free.

Chasik watches Sard's and Sajan's efforts from below.

Shel completes the cataloguing of shelf 2, which is now available for study.

Ali leaves the rebirth tablet slotted into the first table in the room with the pulsating cylinder. It seems to fit well in the slot, but nothing noticeable happens from leaving it there.

Archimedes assists Sard with the effort to pull the torc free, but still it does not seem to be quite enough.

Shel completes the study of shelf 2 but does not find anything especially interesting there.

Ali flies up to the top of the statue and with a burst of strength is able to rip the torc from the statue's grasp.

With a loud bang, the southernmost column in the long hall suddenly shatters in a deafening roar of shrieking stone, (the spot where the column was is now difficult terrain and is marked with a "no" symbol on the map), creating a large cloud of dust (the cloud of smoke is marked on the map in red - it's a 20' spread around the spot where the column collapsed). Moments later, creaking mournfully, the giant statue starts moving.

Sajan is still halfway up the statue (12' up in the air), and Sard, Archimedes, and Ali are flying in the statue's vicinity, 15' up in the air. Ali, you have the torc in one hand. Now that the statue is moving, Sajan will need to make Acrobatics checks to avoid falling off (or you can jump down of course). Also, I don't believe that anyone currently has a weapon in hand, but let me know if I've missed that anywhere. The statue is Gargantuan (occupies a 4x4 space).

Shel rushes to the aid of her companions, drawing her kukri as she goes. As she passes through the cloud of smoke she observes that it appears to be a normal cloud of smoke (i.e. not poisonous or other weirdness; in the cloud you can only see 5' away) but she passes through it without incident. Shel, I moved you to what seemed like the most likely place you would go with 40' of movement - hope it's where you want to be.

Immediately after Shel, another creature bursts forth from the cloud of smoke, almost as if in hot pursuit! Draped in fine dark robes, this creature’s body seems to be made of equal parts bone, leathery flesh, and blood-red smoke. It gets directly in Shel's face, but does not appear to have enough actions remaining to attack her. Yet. Knowledge (Religion) to know something about this creature.

Sard stares at the statue intently, dredging his memory to see what he might recall about such entities, but unfortunately he remembers nothing at all. He flies to the other end of the hall and lets loose a barrage of force missiles at the poor statue, which does not appear to be immune to them.

Chasik strikes the statue with a frightful blow. Although it does not appear that all of the damage goes through, nevertheless he is undoubtedly satisfied with his effort! Chasik, I didn't understand what you wrote about your shield. Did you mean that you are also wielding a shield? And if so, how are you two-handing your warhammer? Or did you mean something else?

The statue swings its mighty khopesh towards Chasik!

Khopesh attack: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (11) + 22 = 33
Khopesh dmg: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 14 = 22
CHA dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Not only does the blow wound Chasik, but it seems to somehow make him a bit uglier too. And the statue seems to grow a bit stronger as a result.

The statue follows up by slamming its free arm towards poor Chasik.

Slam attack: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
Slam dmg: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (8, 3, 8) + 14 = 33
Grab: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (10) + 34 = 44

The blow also strikes the poor fighter, further wounding him and seizing him tightly in the statue's grip. Chasik is grappled.

Sajan easily jumps down from the statue (I've put you next to Chasik but feel free to put yourself in any square adjacent to the statue that you prefer) and swings his temple sword at the statue but, even with it grappling Chasik, does not come close to hitting it. (Sajan, I don't understand your AC notations that you made in your last post - can you please clarify for me - thx)

@Enora - yes, that is correct - you'll need to pass through the cloud to rejoin the group.

Enora and Ali are up!

Ali offered a small apology and then swung gamin with a loud boyish grunt. Ali waits to hear from Archimedes about whether there is evil in the room, possibly emanating from the statue but then strikes.

Enora passes through the cloud of smoke without incident, flying just below the 20' ceiling.

@Sajan, ok makes sense. So, just to clarify: a) the ki point increases your AC by 4 for how long? b) what is boosting your AC another 4 against AoOs? c) So if your AC is boosted to 27 for fighting defensively, does that mean that your AC against AoOs is still 28, or is it now 31?

@Chasik, ok got it. Why did you write that your warhammer falls to the ground though? Being grappled doesn't cause you to lose your weapon but you can't take any action that takes 2 hands, so you won't be able to 2 hand your warhammer, but since it's a 1 handed weapon anyway it shouldn't be an issue for you.

And yes, you did get its attention with that crit!

@Ali, if you want to use your shield there is nothing preventing you from (free action) dropping the torc to the ground. Also, you can draw your sword as part of your move action to move, so you don't need to spend a second move action. However, there's no room for you to flank the statue from where you are because you are technically squeezing into its square at the moment (it is occupying a 4x4 area). Because it is grappling, it cannot take an AoO against you, so there's nothing preventing you from flying to wherever you would like to attack from, but if you want to stay where you are we'll have to dig into the rules about occupying an enemy's square (I can't remember them offhand).

Ali watches his fighter friend deliver a savage blow to the statue and, not to be outdone, directs his friend Gamin to an equally critical spot on the enormous stone figure! As with his friend's attack, Ali notices that not all of the blow seems to strike home, but with his critical strike there are still plenty of shards of stone flying hither and thither.

Meanwhile, Archimedes looks into the hall attempting to ascertain if there is any evil before him and determines that there is the presence of evil somewhere in the 60' cone of his attention.

At this point, another of the strange looking creatures (Yellow) emerges from the cloud of smoke, just beneath Enora but far enough below her that it neither provokes from her, nor is able to attack her, and runs into the fray.

Shel is up!

Shel unleashes a barrage of blows against the Red thing next to her. However, only one of them connects, and that one appears to do no damage whatsoever! The enemy does appear to be fully corporeal, however.

Red replies to Shel:

Red bite attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
dmg: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Red claw attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

Red claw attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

bite attack, crit confirmation: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
crit dmg: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Red's bite is particularly vicious, nearly removing Shel's gall bladder, while its claw attack opens up a bleeding wound on the poor halfling. Shel, you'll take an additional point of bleed damage at the start of each of your turns.

As if things weren't bad enough for the poor tomb robbers Pathfinders, another one of the strange creatures emerges from the cloud and heads in the direction of Sajan...

Blue bite attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
dmg: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

... and he just barely manages to sink his teeth into the monk's flesh.

Btw, if you are wondering, none of these creatures were in the cloud yet when Shel passed through, and Enora was just high enough in the air that she could not see them (nor they, her)

I think I hit all three smoke creatures in my 20ft radius blast without hitting any allies where I am right now, considering Enora's elevation.

Sard sends a blast of fire towards the three strange creatures.

Red Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Blue Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Yellow Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

One of them (Blue) manages to avoid the worst of the blast but the other two are hit full on. Nevertheless, Sard notices that they all seem to be less affected by the fire than he would otherwise expect.

@Sard, re your altitude, the ceiling height is 20', so the highest 5' square you can be in is 15' up. I've adjusted the notation on the map.

Chasik strikes out at the statue but, without any flanking partner, just barely misses.

The statue releases its hold on the valiant fighter and lashes back at Chasik, first with its khopesh:

khopesh attack: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37
khopesh dmg: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (6, 5, 6) + 14 = 31
CHA dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Once again, the statue seems to get a bit stronger from the beauty it has stolen away from Chasik. It then bashes at him again with his other arm...

slam attack: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
slam dmg: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (6, 2, 8) + 14 = 30
Grab: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (11) + 34 = 45

... once again reestablishing the grapple on the beleaguered but brave warrior.

As if things weren't bad enough, yet one more of the foul undead beasts can be glimpsed at the edge of the cloud, where it scampers up the pillar next to Enora and lashes out at her with its claw!

claw attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
claw dmg: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
20% miss chance due to concealment from smoke, high is good for me: 1d100 ⇒ 56

The wound it gives Enora begins to bleed. Enora, you will take 1 point of bleed damage at the start of each of your turns

Enora knows nothing about the statue but she correctly identifies the creatures as Advanced Ghuls, CE medium undead shapechangers, former jann whose eternal existence was twisted by fate and wrought through the displeasure of Ahriman, Lord of the Divs. As if the curse of undeath and ravenous hunger were not enough, these once-majestic creatures now bear donkey hooves as feet. Despite their horrific undead appearance, this feature shames them the most, and they hide their feet from view. Ghuls, like ghouls and ghasts, haunt cemeteries and other places of the dead hoping to feed on corpses. They also hunt mourners and grave tenders, as they enjoy the taste of living prey as well as that of the dead. Selective in their diets, ghuls choose their victims by personality, believing innocence and youth taste more delicious than the barely palatable flesh of the bitter and old. Sometimes a ghul follows a funeral procession in hyena form, keeping a safe distance until the ceremony, whereupon it changes into its true form to attack and feast. Sorrow and despair taste as delicious as innocence to a ghul. The longer a ghul goes without feeding, the more ferocious and primal the creature becomes, and these ones seem especially hungry!

Enora, you can ask one question about the Ghuls (from the list previously noted). You've already seen firsthand that they appear to have some degree of fire resistance, that they probably have some form of damage resistance (since you saw that Shel's one hit did nothing), that their claws cause bleed damage, and that they have a climb speed in addition to normal movement; you can also probably presume that they possess the usual undead traits. Since Enora is offline for the weekend, if one of you wants to select the question on her behalf, I'm sure that will be fine - I'll take whatever is the first question posed.

Enora is able to flit away from the green beast with her flight and caste haste on her fellow party members without difficulty. I've taken the liberty of moving you 5 away from Green so that your spellcasting will not provoke. From this position, everyone will be included in your haste except for Sard.

Enora, if you are still checking online, let us know if you have something in mind that you would like to do when your next turn comes up. Otherwise, I'll ask one of your fellow party members to post a move for you.

Reminder: Knowledge (Arcana) to know about the statue, Knowledge (Religion) to know about the other things.

So, some friendly GM advice: as you can already see, this fight has the potential to be quite deadly. You are playing high tier, but believe me, it's even worse without the 4 player adjustment! Most of us have various boons sitting on our old chronicle sheets, which we often forget to use in the heat of battle - please take a moment to review yours and see if any of them might be useful to you in this encounter. (For example, Chasik, if you have anything that would retroactively have given you a +1 on that last attack, such as something that would remove your fatigue, I'll allow you to use it to retcon that attack). Also, the statue clearly has hardness, so hitting it with a non-adamantine weapon is going to be less effective; still, both Chasik and Ali critted it and clearly did a lot of damage even after the hardness was subtracted; while it's difficult to know exactly the "health" of such a creature, I think as a kindly GM I can share that it has less than half of its hp remaining.

Ali and Sajan are up!

@Chasik, since there's no reason you couldn't have activated your Mythic Legacy on your last turn, I'm going to give you the hit from that attack (you had missed by 1), which increases the damage (after reducing for hardness) done to the statue by 12 (so its current dmg total is now updated to 82). How long does the Mythic Legacy boon last for? Also, I think you are leaving out a +1 from your latest attacks: you should be getting +1 from haste and +1 from mythic weapon focus (as well as subtracting 1 for fatigued and 3 for power attack). I'll resolve these latest attacks that you've just posted when your next turn comes around.

Enora recalls that Ghuls have no particular weaknesses. I've adjusted your dmg total to reflect that the 10 hp dmg you took came off of your temporary hp. You are still bleeding, however.

Sajan unleashes a fluffy of sword blows against the Blue Ghul. His first and third attacks connect but unfortunately they seem to be less effective than he would have hoped.
