Alessio Imeroni

Honestly, I have no idea what happened in there. But seems we have what we came for. Just don't make any deals that put our mission, or more importantly, me in jeopardy, Con. Alessio is fine to continue but scoffs passive aggressively as they begin to make their way.
Juno Berik
|
Once they're outside and out of earshot, Juno glowers at Thestil. "Not when you've done it with 'loyal Aspis Agents' in the room! You'll undo all our work."
Grumbling to herself Juno stomps down the road towards the next stop.
Badriyah Hameedah
|
Breathing a sigh of relief to be out of the temple with what they came for, Badriyah nods at the others comments. "It's good to have that done, but now let's just get the final item so we can be done with this whole charade."
| GM NotEspi |
Once your business in the House of the Silken Veil is finished, you move towards the Bermaran temple - The Fish Bowl. It is at the southern bank of the river flowing through Riddleport, and stands along the river atop a high stone base. Well-worn stone stairs ascend the stone base to access the temple above, but a chain has been drawn across the bottom of the stairs to block easy access. From the street, it is difficult to see anything occurring in the temple at the top of the platform. Only a few dim lights flicker up in the temple, and a narrow tower or lookout post rises above it.
Juno Berik
|
Juno scoffs at the chain and steps right over it, then stomps her way up the stairs.
Juno Berik

Juno laughs. "The Aspis don't wait for permission!"
She gives Miklos a wink and keeps heading up the stairs.
Alessio Imeroni
|
Alessio checks his wrist sheaths to make sure his surprises are loaded, just in case. He steps over the chain with the rest of the crew and heads up the stairs.
Setare Katsu
|
"I ... I do not think that ... you know ... this is a good idea." Setare says with lots of doubt in her voice.
She stands there with Miklos and looks up at the tower "Hell ... hello?? May ... may we enter, please?" she tries to shout but is only able to raise her voice slightly.
| GM NotEspi |
With no response, you hesitantly (some of you, at least) climb up the stairs. The doors on the temple are wide open, and it seems that nothing prevents entering besides the large chain behind you. As you approach the doors themselves, a pre-teen girl shows up in the window, pale as death, with tears running down her cheeks. "HELP!", she shouts into the distance. She notices you and turns to you. "Please, help us! They want to eat us! They already killed the two temple servants!"
She turns her head back into the the room to respond to someone, and pops her head out of the window almost instantly. "Please! Help! My father is injured!"
You rush into the door to find a wall blocking your way. There are openings on each side, however. When you walk inside, you can see a large pool of water in the middle of the room, and wet tracks leading from the pool to three creatures at the opposite end of the room. They seem like someone cross-bred a shark with an otter just for laughs, but forgot to get rid of the set of razor-sharp teeth that each creature is putting to good use tearing the two former acolytes into shreds. The creatures look at you, and seem to fancy the look of freshly-arrived dinner.

Setare and Connie work together to take down one of the bunyips with an onslaught of slashes and jabs from both sides. Juno is less fortunate, and her powerful strike slashes next to the creature.
The remaining bunyips decide to retaliate.

One takes a step towards the halfling and takes a nasty bite of a halfling thigh. The one attacking Juno is less fortunate, as the dwarf dodges the attack. Barely. Consequences' thigh is left with a nasty, bleeding wound.
Con takes 5 bleeding damage per turn until that wound is closed, either by a heal check or with some healing magic.

Consequences bleeds quite a lot, which is unpleasant to ay the least.
He wishes he could stop to bandage his wound, but with the bunyip in front of him....he must press on.

While Consequences struggles with the roaring bunyip, Setare is on a roll - in cooperation with Juno, they manage to take down another one of the sharks. The last remaining otterfish seems to be too driven by instincts to be fooled by the halfling's tricks, however.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group decided to drag the Aspis' name through the mud even more by pretending to openly panic in a public place. Smart move, folks!

Setare is on a roll! With the bunyip softened up by Consequences' 'stone on a rope' approach, she walks up and delivers a killing blow.
Out of combat. You may stop panicking now.
The room grows silent, with the only sound being the sqhish of halfling blood underneath your feet as you walk around. And some yelling from outside.

Finally feeling the panic recede, Badriyah turns back around and somewhat sheepishly returns to the temple. "Well...there aren't any creatures coming up from behind us." She says with a soft laugh as she steps over to the bodies on the floor.
Looking down at one of the victims, she notices the bicorn hat and taps it lightly with her foot. "Say wasn't the person we were meeting with supposed to be wearing a hat like this?"
