Indeed...welcome back!

Working up a post. Hopefully tomorrow.

M Human Ranger 3

Cole, still with us?

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

Where else would I rather be? LOL! Just tied up a little last night. Think I got him!

M Human Ranger 3

Good! Poor Henry's last in initiative order.

M Human Ranger 3

Doc Wilkens, you're up!

Male Human Cleric 3

Oops! Sorry, I was just looking the order he listed the initiative, not the actual numbers.

M Human Ranger 3

It's awfully quiet on here.

Cole and Thistle are up.

M Human Ranger 3

Just a courtesy heads-up: I will be out of town from my Saturday 29th June to Wednesday night of the 3rd July (28th June to the 2nd July in the USA). I won't be able to post again until my 4th July as I will not have computer access until I am home. If required, GM please npc Henry during that period. Thanks.

We can pause the game and run a re-recruitment until that time, if everyone's cool with that. I was thinking about going cinematic soon anyway if i can know everyone's actions for the day.

M Human Ranger 3

I don't have an issue with that. Hopefully we will find a new Smith!

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

If the disease is contained, I want that head in my bar! other than that, I will spend some time at work.

Male Human Oracle (Dark Tapestry) 3

Thistle is just going to decompress, probably wander the town and "clear his head" so to speak. I'm cool with cinematic and pause.

Male Human Cleric 3

I'm cool with the pause and cinematic. Doc will spend the rest of the day studying the bear. Once he figures out what the disease is, he'll start working on a possible antidote so he can have them at the ready.

He'll probably also examine Cole and Thistle at some point just as a precaution.

M Human Ranger 3

Upon returning to town, Henry will advise the locals and hunters not to enter the Hunters' Caves as a quarantine is in place due to a very sick bear residing and killed inside its walls.

He will check in with Doc regarding his studies into the kind of disease the bear was carrying (after giving him the time needed to make his discoveries).

He will also organise a meeting for he and his "deputies" (Cole, Doc, Thistle and Smith?) back at Cole's bar the next morning before it opens for the day. They need to discuss their next move -- whether Hewitt and his children are still alive or eaten by a/the bear and what to do about the missing McCornin.

He will wander about town, checking in to determine if any other locals have gone missing or any sites desecrated/destroyed.

Clean his weapon and look for new clues/evidence.

Male Human Cleric 3

I also have a vacation coming up. I'll be out of town July 11-19. I should have an internet connection, but my posting may be a little spotty that week. Also Comic Con is the next weekend July 20-21 which I may or may not be getting into.

I'll post a reminder when it comes up and like I said, hopefully I should be able to keep up with the posts.

M Human Ranger 3

How is the recruitment for Smith going?

I've not started it yet. I figured I'd start it after the 4th. I want it to have good visibility.

M Human Ranger 3

Welcome to our new Smith. Good to have the full party now.

Male Human Fighter (Brawler) 3

Thanks. Looking forward to this.

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

Welcome Smith!

Indeed, welcome.

Have you had a chance to use the board dice rollers? You simply write an expression like this:
{dice=day job}1d20+5{/dice}
but use "[" and "]" instead of "{" or "}".

Male Human Fighter (Brawler) 3

Nope. I didn't realize the dice roller was built-in. Is there a guide to using the board somewhere?

If you click on "how to format your text", a (show) button at the bottom of every text input window on the boards, it tells you how to do all the text formatting options available.

There is a guide to PbP somewhere on these boards, but basically it's like this:
"I'm going to murder all of you!" DM-Kal shouted at the party from the heavens.
"I hope they know I'm kidding..." he thought to himself afterwards.
Note the use of bold & quotations for in-character speech, and italics + quotations for in-character thought. You can use "out-of-character" tags to write things that your character wouldn't say, like this.

But of course in the discussion thread, no "ooc" tags are needed. Feel free to practice posting everything from dice expressions to hyperlinks in this discussion thread as you get the hang of it.

Male Human Oracle (Dark Tapestry) 3

Welcome, Frank!

Thistle? Doc? I believe you two are up.
Hope we still have a Doc.

M Human Ranger 3

We have Doc. He left a message on the discussion board last week to say he is on vacation from the 11th July to the 19th July (and possibly Comic Con b/w 20th & 21st July). As I understand it, he has no or minimal Internet access while he is away.

Oh! Right. I'm in altogether too many PbPs. It's truly impossible to remember my faction missions...

Alright, I'll NPC Doc for now. Just waiting on Thistle.

M Human Ranger 3

I'm going to be out of town tomorrow and won't be back on the board until my Sunday (your Saturday).

No problem. I'll give Smith, Thistle, Cole, and Wilkens all time to check out the merchant wagon, talk to the visitors, learn more about themselves or the town, start a bar fight, whatever they need to do.

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

Bar Fight! Niiiiice...

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

I am looking to buy a Short Bow for ranged combat, or even upgrade to a Longsword. I am assuming things like this are not available in Devil's Fork. Greenville?

Greenville has more amenities than Devil's Fork to be sure. But shortbows aren't very in style, much less longswords. Mostly what you'll find is crossbows and firearms. Some people carry daggers, short swords, clubs, saps, and the like, but longswords, scimitars, battle axes, flails, etc, are generally considered antiquated. You might, however, be able to come by a good quality saber. This is recognized as a weapon of war, however, and would incur negative social penalties for you and those with whom you associate.

Sticking around Devil's Fork, you could pick up a crossbow or early firearm. If you want a bow more than a crossbow, a Greenville hunting shop could probably provide you with one. You could also find advanced firearms in a Greenville hunting shop or gun store if that's more your style.

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

Crossbow it is.

Male Human Cleric 3

Hello, all. Finally caught up with the action and added a new post. Welcome, Smith! Looking forward to a full party!

M Human Ranger 3

DM-Kal, would Henry have heard the rumour that a "witch" had recently moved into the area? I'm just wondering if this is the first time he is hearing such a rumour.

Welcome back, Doc.

Since he's not been spending a lot of time poking around for rumors, it's understandable he hadn't heard this one yet. Rumors are common in Devil's Fork, so you can't be sure if this is a new one, an old one coming back, or if there's any truth to it.

Welcome back Doc.

Off to the woods then?

M Human Ranger 3

I vote 'yes'.

Male Human Cleric 3

Woods, sounds good to me.

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

Certainly...

Male Human Fighter (Brawler) 3

Woods it is.

Male Human Oracle (Dark Tapestry) 3

To grandmother's house!

M Human Ranger 3

At Hewitt's house, Henry found and collected the following: 1 heavy crossbow, 1 shortbow, 2 beartraps, 1 well-made powder rifle with silvered inlay and a polished brass grip (masterwork musket), personal documents and trinkets and a sum of 200gp.

In order to try to find the witch, I will need either some survival or some knowledge local checks. If you're traveling as a group, one person can roll them and the others can use aid another. Roll a few at a time so I can just handle the rest.

Male Human Fighter (Brawler) 3

Is the fog something normal for this time of year, or should we be worrying?

Both?

Male Human Rogue (Criminal)/1; AC: 16; HP: 9/9; Initiative +4; Passive Perception 12; HD Used 0/1

Ready to roll!

Male Human Cleric 3

I'm good to fast forward. Doc quickly falls asleep after camp is set up. He volunteers for last watch if no one objects.
