Holy crap. That's pretty bad considering creation rules.
Never mind, I see you're closing submissions.

is recruitment still open? Huge fan of the Malazan stories.
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 6) = 19 - 18
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 6) = 15 - 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 3) = 11 - 9
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 1) = 6 - 5
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 4) = 16 - 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 3) = 17 - 14

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 6) = 18 - 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 3) = 14 - 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 1) = 13 - 12
so 18, 17, 15, 14, 14, 14
I could go for Commander - probably Fighter/Tactician or Cavalier/Strategist

@Nightflier: Just stumbled on little flash from the past. So I thought I would ask if you would allow Signature Focus. The thought was that with 2 feat investment I could eventually when I get Animate dead*, get mook undead** without material components*** and lessen bookkeeping somewhat.
*Assuming the campaign gets that far.
** Since in play by post it would not slow down the game to a crawl like in person game.
*** Apart from the actual body to be animated.
Reth Kaskin |
Reth Kaskin wrote:I had submitted Reth for the position of Healer but if that is already filled I will submit him for Company Commander.Would you consider taking some martial-oriented archetype for Reth?
Absolutely, his background tends towards him being more of a combatant just one who was called into the service of his God. My preference would be for Divine Strategist though CRusader could work for him as well. I think Divine Strategist fits the theme of the Mercenary group better than the Cruader.

Well I personally took Draconic(I know Zakmakiv has it) Giant and Goblin, since in Eberron I would assume many older text would have been written in them. So as a scholar of sorts it fitted, if the char has any similar interest those might work. Sign language if DM permits might be something that a scout or anyone needing to communicate silently might have picked up, same thing with reading lips. Orc or Gnoll if has been in contact with those creatures in the past same thing with pretty much any language of coarse. Aquan might work if home community has strong ties to the sea or something similar, couldn't come up why for other elements.
Jeren ir'Vantis |
Draconic is good for the Prophecies, and Goblin for the Dhakaani Empire. Jeren has been around a bunch of orcs, so I took that language for flavor.
Good luck with the final decisions, Nightflier! I think the questions remaining are who gets the Scout and Commander slots, unless Zakmakiv counts as Procurer.

I am gonna announce my choices tomorrow evening. If there are others who would like to apply before that, they are welcome. The character concept and the backstory are a must.
Now, I would like to propose staring another game on Xen'drik for those who do not make the cut for this one. What do you guys think?
Relverest Danarin |
It's all up to what you can handle as GM. :) Xen'drik is fun.
Regardless of outcome, it has been a fun recruitment thread. Rhuuk: may we wield weapons together against a common enemy--raat shi anaa!
Sayyyy...will Urgrag speak Goblin or Orc? I recall something about Orcish being removed from the Eberron setting. I also recall that 4e Eberron is somewhat shekot. If they do speak Goblin, then I have another language and Urgrag gets the language of the Dhakhaani.

Signature focus just looks like a feat sink.
So it lets me save 25XCL.
As a focused wizard, I can save $250g in spell components at 10th lvl.
And at 20th lvl I'm up to $500gold?
So what do I save?
Well I can cast identify (100g) for free. but I use detect magic and spellcraft.
Arcane lock for a savings of $25g
best use, fabricate. wall of iron.
Spells with expensive materials
I can see some uses, but most of those seem so situational that I would be inclined to just note on my char sheet X gold for spell materials.

Xen'drik sounds interesting, If Maenrad does not get chosen I would most likely apply for it. Of coarse with just that description can't say for sure.

On most casters I would agree that it is not very wise choice. But as Dread necromancer, with the total HD of the animated dead* being in 3 digits when you get the spell most likely and each HD costing 25gp, which is lost if they are destroyed it ain't such a bad choice.
PS. It is actually 25gp/2CL
EDIT: *The limit, pretty unlikely that you can get that kind of amount of corpses in one level.

@Jeren: About time you showed up, I look forward to fight side by side which you and am glad you are a Don Bassingthwaite fan as well. Hope you got the muut to lead us!
@Dark one: I've been thinking about how we could work together, I can be your rapid transport and back up on scouting. Since we both have sick stealth we can sneak into enemy camps together and hide my horse near by so we have a get away vehicle when we step on the that natural one branch hehe. I think we could make it work out real good, and tie our characters together after they joined the Sellswords
Xen'drik is cool and this has been a fun recruitment thread!
Rhuuk Kesh'dar |
Jeren started a new job, so he was a little busy when the floodgates opened yesterday.
Muut and atcha both, Sharaat Rhuuk of Darguun. We shall have to sing about beer when crossing into the Mournland!
Mazo, lbikor!! My blade will go into these lands and my belly will defeat this beer, hehe.
@Sgt. Scar: I am the going for the role of the scout and can be a back up grunt as well.
DarkOne the Drow |
I have the 3rd ed Eberron book, but never had the chance to play an Eberron game. Always interested in Xen'drik, continent of mystery. I could handle a 4th game.
@Rhuuk, definitely a good possibility of working together as a team to infiltrate, setup ambushes. Just need some darkvision glasses and she will be able to move rather freely in the dark too, other than doing ninja style movement by feel
@scar, I seem to be the procurer, though would be doing scouting activities with Rhuuk
Just a thought, I have Knowledge (local). Seeing that Zakmakiv did all her training in Q'barrra, I guess the local knowledge would only pertain to Q'barra. Should I choose another skill instead?
DarkOne the Drow |
Please have a very good relaxing 10 days. Though don't exhaust your mind too much, we still need your brain for the games.
I have no problem where my character ends up in either Mournland or Xen'drik, if ends up in Xen'drik I alter direction of travels to Xen'drik. I am rather flexible. Well, next weekend for 4 days I won't be available either, with no internet.
Serenity Havoc |
Was there anyone else trying out for the healer slot?
Serenity has a tendency to look at the darker side of things, and her humor is generally dry. She will generally get along with anyone that doesn't piss her off.
My Eberron is a little rusty, but I have most of them available on pdf. (I use my ipod to carry my book collection with me.)
I did play one game in Eberron, started around 5, went to 17, GM dumped us back to 9, went back up to 15, with the same character. My kid loves playing warforged.

Here we go, in order of check-in/posting:
Name, Rank, Race/Class, Player, Campaign Preference if any.
Zechariah Quinn d'Orien, 2nd in Command, Human Gunslinger, Aiunder, none.
Rhuuk Kesh'dar, Scout or Procurer, Hobgoblin Emissary Cavalier, Roidrage, none.
Maenrad Rangoth, Party Face, Human Dread Necromancer, Bigger Club, none listed.
Sgt. Scar, Sergeant, Halfling Unbreakable Fighter, sunshadow21, preference Mournlands.
Serenity Havoc, Cleric, Aasimar Cleric, fnord72, none. (or two Mournlands.)
Raelc Domson, Spellcaster/Eggcaster, Elf Wizard, Lord Manticore, none.
Urgrag The Savage, Grunt, Half-Orc Barbarian, Aroach1188, none.
Edgar Lamoureux, no character yet, preference Xen'drik.
Zakmakiv Siraski, Scout or Procurer, Poison Dusk Lizardfolk Ninja, DarkOne the Drow, none.
Lethe, Grunt, Shifter Barbarian, Kevin Mack, none.
Stiehl9s, Commander, no player yet.
Reth Kaskin, Cleric or Commander, Shifter Divine Strategist Cleric, Dennis Harry, none.
Jeren ir'Vantis, Commander, Human Oathbound Paladin, Axolotl, none.
Whew! I hope that's informative. We can take a step back and see how this would resolve into teams. Without treading on GM's discretion, of course.
I'm game for Xen'drik as well, but I agree with Serenity that it would be easier (on GM nightflier in particular) to run two parallel games. Less prepping. Again--GM's discretion.
Jeren ir'Vantis |
Yes--Reth is of the Silver Flame, which, I believe, will also annoy the (other) shifter characters in turn. ;) Jeren follows the Host and is one of the Karrnathis who doesn't like the use of undead--something mentioned by the ol' Hellcow himself somewhere.
Taking these various conflicts into consideration, I don't think you could have two parties free of squabbles, but that's what makes for good role play as long as it doesn't get out of hand.
At least no one is playing an Inspired.
Maenrad Rangoth |
I am cool with squabbling, that is mainly why I used might. Depends on how fanatic/fundamentalist follower is. I mentioned it mainly so it could be taken in to consideration and if such characters end up in the same group the players can talk how to deal with it.
Oh and forgot in my last post, cheers for the list.
