Chilled by the creature's speed, Rÿarkaelin nevertheless didn't hesitate. She lunged forward, unfurling her whip and snapping it at the beast to distract it from the unfortunate gnome.
If Lantesh successfully rescues Eadfaas, Rÿar will try to distract one of the heads from a safe-ish distance. If not, she'll move in and attack with the whip.

How close is Eadfaas to the Turtle (is he in a "threatened square?")? Can he move and/or use a spell-like ability without provoking an AOO? If he IS in a threatened square, can he execute a Withdraw action without provoking?
You can withdraw easily, using someone who is bigger (everyone?) as cover.

[dice=whip attack]1d20-1
[dice=whip damage (nonlethal)]1d3+2 Reach weapon
The whip lashes at the turtle, bus snaps harmlessly on its shell...

Alan Bloodforged |

Seeing Eadfaas in danger, Alan wills his tired body to move, although slower than the rest, and stands in front of the creature, but outside his reach, trying to, at least attract its attention, if not stopping it.
Cha 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
"We mean you no harm, and I do know that you are not of Shadow. Please, let us just pass"
He slightly spreads his lowered arms trying to appear as calming and non-threatening as possible.

Lantesh |

Hearing the splash Lantesh notices the source of the noise. Before he can react the mysterious creature apparently comes out of the water and moves toward the little one.
He instantly becomes focused and moves toward the turtle thing. He gets within attack range and claws at it.
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Claw Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Anwyn Elghreah Larerthane |

The bloody fool! He will get himself killed!!
Anwyn is shocked at hearing Alan's pleas. To the best of her (admittedly limited) knowledge, that beast was not intelligent. Still he has done stunts like this before...
Moving closer to the scene of the action, the obsidian blade balanced on her shoulder, she readies to summon her seldom-used eldritch powers against the turtle.
Ready action to fire Ray of Frost should it attack Alan or Lantesh.
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 1 = 14
Damage: 1d3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Eadfaas |

Taking advantage of the distraction provided by the others, Eadfaas scrambled back, out of the big turtle's reach. Then, calling upon his people's connection to the animal world, he tried to communicate - wincing as Lantesh started swinging claws.
"Not Food! Eadfaas yelled at the giant turtle's nearest head, his voice magically enchanted to be understandable by the animal brain, "We not food! But we want to help find food for you! We want be friends!"
Speak With Animals, if possible. Eadfaas is thinking this thing might make a decent taxi, if he can keep it from eating them.

I'm sorry, did I miss when you changed shapes? You need to use standard action to do so?

Taemon'dow |

A Channeler? Or was that fey magic? If she is one of the gifted, she may be of far greater importance to the resistance than the rest of the group... I'll have to watch and see, and perhaps do what I can to watch over her if she is truly empowered so.
As for the monster... don't want to get too close just yet.
Taemon'dow scoops down low, near the entrance of the cave tunnel, where he is still standing. He picks up a couple of good sized rocks, and taking a step or two forward, lobs one at the turtle's closest head.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Don't know if rocks count as improvised weapons or not. Apply the necessary minus if they are.
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Don't know what damage should be for a big rock, so take the one you like better.

Alan Bloodforged |

As turtle's beaks rip through his flesh, he groans, but the the thought that springs in his mind through the pain is "Better me than the gnome, he doesn't look like he could have taken that attack and lived"
He stumbles backwards as the others attack the beast, stopping by Anwyn, eyeing the blade on her shoulder, realizing that the strongest weapon that they have is probably not going to be used by anyone unless he tries to wield it. But, the pain in his tired body tells him that he should go back into the fray only if the others start failing.

Rÿarkaelin Nelnaereth |

Therudrim: I originally read your entry as if you meant "the human took a bite out of the turtle." Haha! Now THERE'S an unusual image! ;)
Hearing Alan claim that the creature was not Shadow-spawned, Rÿarkaelin gave him a look of disbelief. However, whatever it was, it was clearly hungry. She backed away with her nearly-useless whip, waiting to see if it would follow or perhaps be tamed by the skills the rest of the group brought to bear. If Alan spoke true, and the twisted creature somehow wasn't of the Shadow, it might prove a valuable ally against pursuit if nothing else... if, at the end of their encounter, both parties remained alive.
Rÿar withdraws, and looks around for something a turtle might be hungry for (a giant two-headed lettuce?): Knowledge:nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 or Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

I did the same thing. Grammatically, it could be correctly interpreted that way. English is a stupid language.
GM: Is it a new round yet, or are we still waiting on anyone?

Eadfaas tries to communicate with the beast, but his attempt hits a wall of non-understanding. It seems that the beast is far from natural animal.

Rÿarkaelin Nelnaereth |

"I think it is defending its territory - if we back away, it may not follow," Rÿarkaelin called to the others, suiting words to action. "Perhaps if we were to distract it with food and approach the island on the far side from where it was eating, it might not notice our intrusion. Then we would have at least a warning system should anything pursue us, though if nothing does, we might have trouble getting off the island again."
She gestured with some distaste at the surrounding Bog. "There is plenty here that might serve as food to tempt such a creature."
Rÿar withdraws from the turtle's vicinity.

Anwyn Elghreah Larerthane |

Anwyn watches Alan get savaged by the turtle and her heart nearly stops. Seeing him retreat away from it filled her with a sense of relief. She reads the look in his eye and silently offers him the obsidian blade, hilt first. The look in her eyes is full of concern though.
"Take this blade, Alan. It should help you if the others cannot calm the beast down."
If Alan takes the blade, she will draw her improvised chain.

Rÿarkaelin Nelnaereth |

Rÿarkaelin relaxed slightly when the giant turtle didn't follow them. "Let us see if it can be distracted from the island with food. Therudrim, can you find more?"
Assume Rÿar is repeating herself in jungle mouth for Therudrim's benefit for simplicity's sake. Rÿar will also gather food for the turtle.

Anwyn Elghreah Larerthane |

As Rÿarkaelin speaks in the jungle tongue, Anwyn interrupts in an acerbic tone, "Be sure you gather enough food for that beast, I do not wish to lose any of our fellowship here. I believe you may have better results with live meat instead of plants." She then readies her improvised chain, just in case.

Taemon'dow |

"If we are decided on the island, I suggest we try circling around and trying to gain it from the other side. If the creature follows us, perhaps we can try to provide a distraction for it on one side, while the rest of the party moves around the lake to the far side."

Therudrim Maernfireplith |

"I don't have gear to obtain more meaty meals even for us, thus the bugs that I collect with plant bits.", speaking softly in jungle tongue to Rÿarkaelin, with a smile before continuing , "Can sure try to make a bigger pile of leaves and bugs for it. Someone with me would help get the food pile bigger faster."
Therudrim returns to the spots where she collected editable plant bits and bugs to collect. She pulls her cloak around her body, exposing her wings once more, so to make a make shift bag to hold the larger collection.

Rÿarkaelin Nelnaereth |

Rÿarkaelin nodded seriously, and helped Therudrim in her efforts to quickly gather matter the turtle would find edible.
Once they had a decent pile, she motioned to the others. "Some of you must help us deposit the food quickly and get away; the others can go now to the far side of the pond. We must move quickly to take advantage of any chance the food might give us."
Rÿar's plan is to dump the food near the turtle, then sprint to the opposite edge of the pond while the turtle hopefully is distracted, and try to reach the island from there. Any other suggestions?

Taemon'dow |

"That beast is massive. I doubt we could gather enough food to interest it. I suggest we head round the other side and see what we can find."
Taemon'dow steps down the slope, and starts walking around the shore of the lake, trying to venture neither too close to the edge, or too close to the foliage.
