Ok I've been wondering what this parenthesized number in the campaign description is for a while, and it's driving me nuts that it keeps going higher. What the hell is it lol

Butharn, I think my other PbP party stole our good rolls. Both I and another character rolled several 17+ rolls this round, pulling off 3 or 2 or 3 confirmed crits at least.

Girzog side steps next to Blue, opposite Jinny. He unleashes a flurry of strikes against the thug.

Claw #1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Claw #2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

As he wipes blood from his beak, Girzog smirks

You guys really have absolutely no clue who you're dealing with.

Sory Girzog about the color confusion. the (blue) icon next to you is Lura, who is currently bound. Do you want to attack her? or resubmit a new action? If you deiced to move next to a thug and attack, you can keep your fist attack if you like.

Oh derp. I saw blue and thought "Ooh he mentioned a blue thug". I should have known something was up when I couldn't figured out what the symbol on her was... which is now completely obvious...

Everything in the last 6 seconds was just a dream. Girzog actually went over towards Yellow, next to Dumm, and swung once with a single claw.

You look like you could use a hand, friend!

Round (1) Summery

I placed Jinhong on delay. She may post an action at any time.

Girzog: moves up and takes a clawed swing at one of the thugs (Yellow) (Hit -3 Lethal)
Butharn: Moves to the back and engages the woman that has been lurking in the shadows. The mighty dwarf takes an over hand swing but missies his intended target. (Miss)

Thug (Blue): The cloaked figure moves out from behind the crates and takes a powerful swing at the barbarian, which connects and cuts deep into his arm. (Hit -7 Lethal)

(Attack) Blue vs Dumm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 (Hit)

Wow! what a roll! This last hit really took the wind out of old Ostrogard. factoring in the failure of the Fort saving throw against poison, he was down to 2 hps and his fort save is now only +2. At least he has 4 hp now, lol.

Oh ya, almost forgot. Ostrogard needs to make another Fortatude save (DC 13 or take another -1 Con damage.) I believe, do to the last con damage, he is now sitting at a base 12 HP and has a Fortitude save of +2. Correct me if I am incorrect on this. I failed to place his current status on the initiative board, I will include it on the next posting. So Ostrogard is currently (-8 Lethal out of 12 HP).

Round (2) summary

Junhong: The young swashbuckler bolts into action, as she attempts to clear a stack of crates by lunging past them. The crates seem too high in comparison to the woman’s angle, but at the last moment she engages an extra twist in the air and manages to safely circumvent the stack. Having landed in a combat ready position, Junhong draws her scimitar and takes a quick slice at the grungy looking man (Purple). (Miss)
Ostrogard: The rogue pulls out a potion and quickly drinks it down. The large gash, left by the blade at his feet, heals slightly. (+2 Heal)
Kardiv: Watches as the barbarian begins to become inundated with thugs. In an attempt to lighten the big man’s load, the paladin fires a well-placed arrow at one of the three shady looking men (Yellow), which sends him toppling to the boardwalk. (Hit -9 Lethal)

Thug (Orange): The green cloaked woman stairs deeply into Butharn’s eyes. Having dodged what she considered a deadly attack, the woman pauses just long enough to evaluate her next attack. Quickly the woman kicks the dwarf repeatedly, but not with enough force to brake through his armor. (Miss)

Round (4) Conclusion
Out of Combat

Girzog: The clocked man glances around and finally realizes that he is the last of his group standing. Just as the man turns to flee, Girzog sinks one of his sharp talons into the man’s neck. The thug shrieks out in pain as blood spurts out across the dock. Even with the extensive gash on the back of his neck, the man still manages to attempt to run, which opens him up to another of Girzog’s talons. The second talon digs deeper into the his neck, causing him to vomit blood. Without hesitation, Girzog clamps down on the man’s neck with his large-powerful beak, and severs the thug’s neck. The disembodied head slowly rolls off the dock and into the sea.

You are currently standing on a well-lit dock with a number dead or dying bodies lying at your feet. Lura has decided to quietly submit, and is no longer attempting to struggle. A few of the rundown shops along the boardwalk have people looking out their windows, but are obviously trying not to draw your attention. The stray dog has run off and the sound of the sea thrashing up against the dock is strong enough to cause the occasional wave to splash up and wet the area.

What would you like to do from here?

Carefully Dumm and Butharn begin to roll the bodies off the boardwalk, and into the sea. By the looks of the bystanders, this doesn’t seem to be out of place for Bloodcove. Although the locals seem to be curious, they duck for cover whenever they catch you looking in their general direction. Among the thug’s belongings, Butharn finds an empty brown potion bottle, a tangle-foot bag, (3) sets of studded leather, (3) Scimitars, (27) crossbow bolts, (3) saps, (1) dagger, and an empty vial which use to contain something that smelled bad.

The night has become increasingly late. After collecting up your new belongings you finish escorting Lura back to the Sanguin Pit. As you approach the now darkened, lifeless building, your first thoughts are that the establishment is likely closed for the night. After taking a closer look, you spot the light of a lamp burning in one of the back rooms.

After knocking, the bartender answers the door. “We are closed,” He says just before he realizes who you are. When his eyes take in the bound Lura, he begins to panic. “A, I, I thought she was dead. So sorry mam, I had no idea you were still alive. I tried to care for the place while you were gone.” The dirty, rundown, man staggers back a bit, and then allow the group to enter.

The door shuts with a loud clank, then the man turns to the group. ”I’m confused. Are you returning Lura? I see you have her bound, but she is still alive, so are you intending to release her?”

All the while, Lura is giving the barkeeper a look so deadly that it causes the man's knees to buckle. The large oaf of a man, manages to catch a nearby chair, just in time to keep himself from falling to the ground.

Our business with Lura is our own. Leave us, barkeep.

With a hard glance to Lura,

If she cooperates, you may yet have a chance to serve in her employ. If not, I suspect all this a sweeping gesture at the four walls will be yours.

Assuming he leaves,

Idling spinning her switchblade between the fingers in one hand,

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Now then, my dear, you say the cure is behind the bar. Would you like to show us where, and describe in detail any traps laid upon it?

The unspoken implication is clear: if any unknown traps go off, it will not go well for Lura.

Upon entering the Pit, Ostrogard looks around for hidden threats or observers.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

If he detects anyone, he will alert the others. If not, he will proceed as follows:

Assuming he doesn't notice anyone hiding, Ostrogard will go to the bar area and carefully look for traps.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Well, now, this should be interesting to see if Lura "forgets" to mention any traps. Nice work, Ostrogard. :-)

I'll take the tanglefoot bag if no one objects.

The barkeeper quietly moves off to the back room, in order to allow the group to have some privacy. You can tell by the look on the man’s face that he is hoping that Lura doesn’t cooperate. You detect a moderate amount of animosity between the two.

After the man moves off, Lura points out a sturdy cabinet located behind the bare, at about the same time Ostrgard spots the piece of furniture on his own. After taking a closer look at the cabinet, you take note that it is currently locked.

Lura nods in response to Jinhong’s threat. “There are no traps, but the key is missing. I’m sure that a group as formidable as yourselves, shouldn't have any problem finding a way to open it.”

Noted that Butharn is using one of the Lt. crossbows and (27) bolts, while Jinhong has the tangle-foot bag. You can add these items into your inventory for the remainder of the scenario. I will even allow you to use them in scenario part 2, if you decide to continue, but after scenario (2) those items will no longer belong to you, unless you decided to buy them.

Did I find any traps? Assuming I did not, I will try to open the cabinet.

Ostrogard examines the cabinet.

Hmmm, he says thoughtfully as he unwraps his finely made crafted lockpicking tools, Let us see what we can do here.

Why do I get the feeling that this cure has "accidentally" gone missing?

Lura makes eye contact with Girzog's stern gaze, as the Tengu voices his doubt-filled opinion.

After a careful inspection, Ostrogard feels the cabinet is free of traps. The small halfling pulls out a small set of tools and begins working on the cabinet's lock. It doesn't take more then a few moments before Ostrogard feels the lock give away to his soft touch.

After opening the cabinet, Ostrogard counts (12) bottles of the bars top end liquors. Burbon, Rum, and Brandy seem to be the majority of the stock, with the occasional bottle of fruity wine. Two medium sized bundles of narcotics, and a small bottle labeled Senzer, sits at the bottom of the cabinet.

While Ostrogard is working on the cabinet, a large splash can be heard from out back. It appears the barkeeper is in the process of dumping the bodies from earlier, into the sea. By the sound of the man's grumbling, you suspect he isn't happy about the tedious task.

"In smallest bottle is what?" Dumm asks Lura, reasoning that the word printed on the bottle, whatever it is, looks a lot shorter than "antidote."

It looks like it's the medicine we need, Dumm, Jinny says with a smile.

I'm not prepared to let Lura go until I'm sure that Senzer's son is cured. Let us return to his shop so we can all get back to our own affairs.

Lura, if that's not the cure, now would be an excellent time to mention it.

Or don't mention it. I was... preoccupied, the last time we fought you. I've been hoping I could get another chance.

Girzog continues making eye contact with Lura, making sure she understands the Brotherhood won't accept any deceit.

Easy, Girzog. We don't want a repeat of the Sargava incident, do we?

Lura indicates that she fully understands the Tengu's threat. "That is the treatment for Senzer's son. It should be enough to cure him. If you release me, I give you my word that this is the last of my involvement with the alchemist."

The barkeeper finally comes back into the establishment, and looks to be covered in as much blood as you.

You now have the cure for Senzer's son. What would you like to do from here?

You just don't listen do you. Until the boy is cured, you stay with us. Now, let's go return to Senzer and get this to his boy quickly.
