"Certainly, Roary. I have your wand here." Concluding his investigation of the bodies and of the cultists, Crar produces the barbarian's wand from a feathery fold of his cloak. "Let's not tarry too much longer here. I have a bad feeling about this place."
Cast cure light wounds from wand - 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4; 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Roary that's two charges to heal you up by 7hp - do you want another charge to heal you to full strength? - 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 if necessary. Would you like me to use the wand on anyone else if they are in need of healing? Anyone else injured in the last couple encounters?

I dont mind the wand being used to heal part members no, just keep up with charges used please.. The 13 healing makes him 6 off full, but thats fine for now i suppose..

As Crar moves away from the last cultist, the groans are those of the waking, their eyes open and take in the scene of devastation. In their precarious position, seeing the blood stained weapon and the dead, a group of strangers dressed in armor have invaded their space. They clutch their symbols and roll off and under their beds, as you all feel your bodies assaulted by a cold dreadful draining feeling.
Everyone make 3 will saves please. Then you will be up. Roary has not had time for any healing.

Between them the group manages to dispatch two of the cultists, Roary bringing his weapon down through the table and smashing the skull of the man below. Talinthas and Bedmyr dispatching the other, but just as they turn to the last cultist, the man touches his symbol again and you feel your life being sucked from you.
Will Save if you are still in the room .... DC13 will save, fail 4HPs damage, pass 2HPs, damage... @Roary, no damage reduction for negative channeling. I hope you didn't apply DR to the damage you took above, as I think your HPs should be 2 not 4. DR applies to weapons and natural attacks.

OK, No problem, its difficult to see the progression of HPs and remember them. My problem not yours ....
Talinthas is in the room, to have helped kill the previous cultist.
Roary smashes through the table again sending splinters of wood everywhere with the force of the blow. his blade cutting deep into the man's pelvis, but the killing blow came from the large dark brown splinter of wood that pierced his heart.
With the cessation of combat, Bedmyr reappears in the room, "Is it over?" he asks, "For I am near to fainting and need to repair the darkness that assailed my body."
After taking the negative damage, you can stay in this destroyed room and heal up .... please roll for any healing, reducing the CLW charges as appropriate. ....

The last cultist touches his symbol and a dark flood washes over Crar, leaving him drained. The shaman drops to one knee, weakened, then braces himself against the wall to lever himself back to his feet. He draws out a potion from among his gear, unstoppers the cork and downs the contents. Then, he finally draws out Roary's wand. "Eh, Roary, I think I might have need of this myself."
Will save 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Crar passes the Will save for the negative channel, still taking 2hp damage, putting him at 0. His next action to use his potion of cure light wounds, then heal up Roary.
Roary, would you mind if Crar used one charge of your healing wand on himself? I can recompense you if you like. The charge would bring me up to nearly full strength, after using the potion of CLW that I nearly forgot I had. And, four charges in addition to the two charges from previous post, that would bring up to full HP?

The cultists did take damage from their channeling, but not enough to kill them.
Tiasar, please both make a will save, as you didn't requested to leave the room, so need to make will saves against the last negative energy channel.
Bedmyr asks for healing from the wand too, "We are about to explore more of these cultists rooms. I am so weak if we meet any more I will likely die and be of no use to you. Otherwise I will have to stay here until you return."

Not knowing what else might be found here in cultist hideout, Crar takes advantage of the wand to make sure everyone is ready for another fight. After all, isn't it the job of a Pathfinder, to look after one's brothers? After healing himself and Roary, he turns his attention to Bedmyr and Talinthas, before finally looking at Tiasar. "Tiasar, what about you? Those cultists really did a number on the rest of us." Crar makes sure Tiasar is alright to go before thanking Roary and returning the wand to his belt. "Thank you Roary, we wouldn't have gotten very far if it hadn't been for your wand. We really owe you. If we scrape together enough coppers from this job, this is the first thing I'll be investing in."
Heal the others with the wand:

@Crar - Tiasar has lost 10HPs...when you next post, please heal Tiasar. The healing is done before you leave the room with the dead cultists and others.
What follows now is where you go next, it is repeating the options you made before you hung around to be healed and fought the cultists. post in italics copied from the previous posts..
You continue down the hallway to a single curtained door, Roary sweeps it aside, revealing a small entrance chamber. To the west hung more curtains signed with Lissana's holy sigil, where once a double door must have stood. He whisks the curtain away to the side as he and Crar enter the room.
This wide room contains several bunk beds and chests, each embossed with a different rune. A heavy iron pipe runs the length of the south wall of this room at about four feet from the ground, disappearing into the eastern and western walls. A pungent smell issues from an alcove to the east.
Roary's post... Tue, Dec 3, 2013, 05:49 PM
Entering the room Roary takes a look around.. Perc: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Roary enters the barracks, he hurries along spying the chests and can't resist the temptation to open one of them. He goes to one side and starts to open the chest, as he does the lids shoots a red hot firey flame at him. Shocked by the sudden rush of yellow and orange blaze, Roary is rooted to the spot as his normal instinct deserts him and his body is enveloped as the intense heat of the fire burns him. Roary takes 9 HPs of fire damage, failed both perception and reflex save, including trap sense.
Inside the chest, he finds a couple of changes of clothes, toiletries and a couple of books written in common, one titled 'The tenets and observances of Lissala' and the other 'A treatise on the culture and beliefs of Thessilon'.
As Crar wanders down the line of beds and chests, each he notices has a rune different from the others, and understands each of the cultists has their own rune, which denotes their bed and possessions. At one chest he notices a letter jutting out of the chest with a star and bear shaped rune.
Crar points the letter out to the others, but continues on to the alcove at the other end of the room. As Crar enters the foul smelling alcove, he sees that this is the barracks washroom. It contains a table with four ceramic basins, each capable of holding 8 gallons of water. The iron pipe juts into this washroom, capped with a spigot positioned over a large barrel. The spigot dribbles dark and smelly water into the barrel, which is ringed with dried flowers. A stick near the barrel is hanging on the wall, underneath a note that reads, “Conserve charges! Use on full basins only!”
The other watch in amazement at Roary's burnt and injured form.
You estimate the barracks is set up for about 30 cultists, with their beds and possessions.
Let me know what you want to do next?

Grabbing the letter, Crar shows it up for the others. "Anyone recognize this seal, with a star and a bear? Also saw a wand back there, by the basins. Tiasar, would you want to have a look? I wondered if it might be a wand of creating water, perhaps it could be useful?"

As Crar disturbs the chest lid, taking the letter out two things happen, he first is a blast of fire comes leaping out of the chest. Crar tries to leap out of its way, Crar takes fire damage 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11, Reflex save, DC17 for half damage. Amazingly the fire seems to flow round the parchment letter, but even more surprising is that the letter is wrapped around a wand of silver and copper that slips out. The wand has etched into it the shapes of bodies being tortured, looking as they are enduring pain and suffering, they look almost alive as the last of the red and orange flames flash out from the chest.
Crar intrigued by the wand, takes a look at the letter surrounding it, hoping to find something useful about the wand. The letter though is not written in any normal language, it looks like a set of pictures made up of several squiggles and lines and things, exquisitely and painstaking written with a fine black paint brush.
Anyone speak Tien?
Crar
|
Crar judged ill in taking the wand, and the blast of flame really cooked him. Beating out the flames, he ruefully looks at the letter and the wand. Sadly, the squiggles mean nothing to him. Still, it might be worth something; surely someone in the Pathfinders should be able to read it. He's not sure he likes the look of the wand, either. He takes out the slim healing wand, looking at Roary questioningly. "I may need some healing before I carry on much further, I really got cooked as well."

Crar is able to determine that the wand he picked out from the chest with the letter has magical properties. Despite his reservations, his magic begins to understand the properties of this strange wand. Indeed it is a rare thing, for it is a wand of delay pain, though its magic power suggests that it has used up 75% of its ability to stop the agony of torment or torture. Crar turns to Talinthas, who is also interested in the wand and explains, "I think these etchings draw in the pain from those touched by its magic." Crar fully expects that as the pain is transferred temporarily to the wand, the drawings of the bodies might move as though tortured, retaining the pain before releasing it once the spell end.
As Tiasar looks at the magical emanations in the barracks, now that he has seen the traps in action, he discerns that all the chests are protected by abjuration magic. As he delves into the power of the protection, his mind is filled with a jumble of words, of personal passwords that offer a way through the barrier guarding the contents. Try as he may, Tiasar cannot decode the words required to open any of the chests, as words bounce around in his head in a cacophony of gibberish. He gives up this impossible task and goes into the bathroom, where the other wand gives off a faint aura of transmutation.
Anything else you want to do in this room?

"Perhaps it belongs to the hidden agent.. I doubt his has the pain tolerance of these fanatics, but he still has to look the part.. Same for the purify wand.. We should remember his symbol as a way to identify him.. What was that symbol again?"

Crar helps with examining the second wand. Then, responding to Roary's comment, he says "That's a good point, Roary. Can we work out which is their mark? Maybe we ought to check the bodies back through there, make sure we didn't chop down the wrong person." He starts examining the runes, looking to see if there are any corresponding marks on either of the wands.
Spellcraft check for the second wand in bathroom 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Your spellcasters have no idea what the second wand does.... in character you don't know what the wand in the bathroom does. Do not read spoilers, unless you meet the requirements.
There are no obvious (or otherwise) signs of ownership on the wands, other than the sigil on the chest which contained the first wand.

My bad i thought people had ided them.. Been a busy day and just had time to skim, post, and run.. Disregard my thoughts..
Crar

Sorry GM, thought Crar's Spellcraft result was better than it actually was, dice roller really let me down there. But Roary did have a good point about whether the wands have any ownership marks on them that might link them to either the cultists we killed or anyone else we might meet. Either that, or could the same be done with the rune on the chest where we found the first wand? The delay pain wand might have no relation to this agent amongst the cultists' cell, but it's a plausible theory and might help us to avoid blowing their cover. If we haven't killed them already. Heh, we're not great at this undercover thing, are we? Is it too late to draft in Pathfinder Agent 007?.
Just about the second wand, regardless if we work out the details, I think the fact that it was by the basin and had a note regarding its use argues against it being used by our agent ally. More likely it was used regularly by the cultists.

Let's see, that would be to deliver a message from the Spider to the Lissalan cultists along with the three treasures we picked up as a gift of goodwill from their friends the Aspis Consortium? If only there were a way to put a bomb in the treasures so that they blew up after we left them with the cultists. That would really leave them with a bad taste in their mouths in regards to Aspis.
I'm happy to move on. What were the coordinates for that next area on the map - T23?
Crar takes one last look around. He wasn't able to match any of the runes with marks on the wands, so perhaps it was best to move on. "I think we've gleaned all the information we're going to get from here. Perhaps it's time we finish what we came here for and flew the coop before things catch up with us." Crar definitely feels like he's starting to become paranoid. He's afraid of saying too much about their true motives out loud - this is a dark place, who can tell if someone might be listening? He keeps his eyes peeled, darting to the right and to the left as they go along.
