At Roary's words, Crar's hand strays to his scimitar, but he doesn't yet draw his blade. He hears the hurried footsteps, and tries to gauge their origin. He also takes in his surroundings, noting the torches and looking around for any other magical effects.

GM, I'm happy with Crar's current position, but more fighty types like Bedmyr or Talinthas might prefer to be placed ahead of me; that's alright too. I'll ready an action that Crar draws his sword if the group is attacked or threatened.

This spell causes an object to radiate darkness out to a 20-foot radius. This darkness causes the illumination level in the area to drop one step, from bright light to normal light, from normal light to dim light, or from dim light to darkness. This spell has no effect in an area that is already dark. Creatures with light vulnerability or sensitivity take no penalties in normal light. All creatures gain concealment (20% miss chance) in dim light. All creatures gain total concealment (50% miss chance) in darkness. Creatures with darkvision can see in an area of dim light or darkness without penalty. Nonmagical sources of light, such as torches and lanterns, do not increase the light level in an area of darkness. Magical light sources only increase the light level in an area if they are of a higher spell level than darkness.

If darkness is cast on a small object that is then placed inside or under a lightproof covering, the spell's effect is blocked until the covering is removed.

This spell does not stack with itself. Darkness can be used to counter or dispel any light spell of equal or lower spell level.

Roary bursts through the curtained partition and looks down into the room. This room appears at first glance to be an operating theater, as it contains cots draped in clean sheets and tables neatly stacked with surgical implements and dressings, but mixed among the surgical implements are whips, scourges, and other tools of torture.

On the cots Roary sees men with ecstatic faces and smiling as they feel the exquisite pleasure of pain. Roary see a horned humaniod bending over one of the cots, scraping at the skin of the man with what looks a hooked surgical instrument. The supplicants lie face down on cots in this room, stripped to the waist and unconscious from pain and religious ecstasy. The horned man moves between the priests, peeling away skin in the shape of the Sihedron rune.

Roary gets surprise on the horned man in front of him, then we go into round 1.

Guys you already rolled for initiative for this room ...

As Roary goes over the edge, he runs through into the room to attack the torturer. He hears a hissing sound down by his leg, as two fangs bite into his leg. Attack of Opportunity, does 3 points of damage and a Fort save. He brings his weapon down on the horned man like creature, cutting him in half as he turned round to see the disturbance, killing him in one blow. Behind him something slides across the floor hissing sinking it's fangs into the barbarians flesh once more. Take 2 points of damage and a Fort save, DC15 if first save failed or DC 13 if passed prev save. Even as he grimaces as he feels the poison injected into his body, the big barbarian responds to the dangers in the dim lit room, (unlit by the lights present elsewhere), the room is plunged into darkness. Ha, if we rolled initiative twice, does that mean we get twice as many actions? Okay, maybe not...

Seeing the veil of darkness fall around Roary and the cultists, Crar moves up closer to the edge of the dark. He reaches into a pocket and draws out a coin. Before tossing it into the darkness, he calls on the spirits of nature to bestow light on the stone to counter the darkness. Then, throwing it into the dark, he stares intently, hoping to get a glimpse of what the group is up against.

Ok GM, is it possible to change my action then? Instead, can Crar move 10feet to Q12 as a move action, then as a standard action draw out a coin and cast light on it. I want to throw it into the darkness, though I imagine that would be a following round action. I'm hoping it will be enough to dispel the darkness, but if not at least it should bring the light level up to dim light, right?

Talinthas moves into the darkness and slashes out in front of him, he feels his sword bite into something soft and fleshy.

Bedmyr moves up and fires a loud retort into the room, you all hear a very large explosive bang as a missile is fired and a dull thud is heard.

Bedmyr watches in horror as the creature with the crossbow fires, the sound of a string loosing, a bolt flying and a weapon dropped is heard to the east of the room. Roary feels the bolt enter his body ripping at his stomach and liver. The room continues to be black as night, Roary, Talinthas and Crar unable to make out anyone in the room.Roary takes 9HPs of damage. From the eastern part of the room, close to Roary, once more you hear the voice, "Leave me to my holy work, leave now heathen." and the room goes silent, except for the sounds of armor on Talinthas, Roary's cry of pain.

Faced with the wall of darkness, Crar hurls his coin with the light spell cast upon it into the black. Hope this works, he thinks. Then, he looks for a likely target to zap with a lightning arc. In the back of his mind, a thought keeps tugging at him: aren't we supposed to leave them alive? So he yells out, Remember! Jenk just told us to rough them up a bit! No killing!"

For a move action, Crar will throw the coin with the light spell on it into the middle of the room, I'm hoping it will dispel the darkness effect. Then, if he can see the tiefling, he will try to zap him with his lightning arc ability. I'm gambling that the damage won't be enough to drop this Dr. Doom completely.

With the cessation of their devotions, one of the cultists starts to groan as the sweetness of the pain turns sour.... As he moves the silver symbol hung round his neck, fall and dangles over the table on which he lies. The other two cultists seem to echo his groans, as if answering in some holy ceremony.

The group leave the unconscious cultists to wake to their own private hell of blood splattered walls and floors, whilst bodies of their specialists in flagellation and scarification lie mutilated on the floor. Their work of peeling away the skin on the backs of the priests in the shape of a Sihedron rune only part way complete. Specialist tools lie strewn on the floor, a victim of the fight between the tieflings and the mighty barbarian.

You continue down the hallway to a single curtained door, Roary sweeps it aside, revealing a small entrance chamber. To the west hung more curtains signed with Lissana's holy sigil, where once a double door must have stood. He whisks the curtain away to the side as he and Crar enter the room.

This wide room contains several bunk beds and chests, each embossed with a different rune. A heavy iron pipe runs the length of the south wall of this room at about four feet from the ground, disappearing into the eastern and western walls. A pungent smell issues from an alcove to the east.

I moved you to the next room, hope you don't mind. Make any rolls you think appropriate...

Im assuming whoever has my wand heals me full before we move on..

Entering the room Roary takes a look around.. Perc: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Noticing the chests he will move over and inspect the contents of them..

@Roary, no do not assume that, you left hurriedly from the previous room...And any healing needs to be rolled... you are also still fatigued from the rage. You left after 5 rounds....Crar who has your wand, spent his time looking at the inhabitants (dead or alive) in the room.

If you want to hang back, then Crar and Talinthas will lead on into this next room..

Yea he wouldnt move on without being healed first.. He would request it actually before moving on, so we can wait until those rolls are done then..

If you wait, something will happen ....

Perhaps he could get a charge or 2 off as we walk? You can move and have a standard action after all.. The point is im at 1/3 hp and regardless of something else coming i would like to have the healing..
