Ziera shoots down into the pit.

Ziera, you'll have had to move closer to the pit to get an angle. Gray, I'm guessing you're going to take s step back and not risk falling into the pit.

payk 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Ziera and The Azure Avenger take down one of the remaining hell hounds. Payk moves closer and fires off a shot but misses. Vince prowls outside the pit. The hell hount remains trapped in the pit.

Yeah, sorry about that. My laptop died on Friday after the power cord failed on Thursday and it ran out of charge, so I was posting from my phone, and couldn't see the map. New cord got delivered and it is all fixed now, and moved appropriately.

Ziera shoots again.

That concludes combat in this room. There is another scroll in the pedestal. And only one room remaining.

Vince steps forward and looks into the pit to confirm the hell hounds are gone. He seems satisfied, because he sheathes his weapons. He mutters to himself as he walk over to Ziera, “I need to get a bow, can’t believe i don’t have one.

To Ziera he says, “I, uh, could use some healing.

Ziera nods to Vince and says Just a second.

Ziera hits herself with a heal first, and then heals Vince.

Gray waved off the offer of healing with a polite gesture, instead striding forward and snagging their latest prize. Waiting a couple of seconds to see if it explodes or anything else bad happens, the inquisitor shrugged and walked back to the group, handing the latest scroll to the aged bookseller before getting ready to discover the secrets of the final room they had yet to grace with their presence.

Well, let's hope this ends it.

She walks across the bridge to the last door they haven't explored, and casts open on it.

The same view greets you, lit torch and all, but the sounds in this room set it apart; namely there are already sounds coming from this room. Nothing is in view, but something is moving in the space you can’t see.

Reset map.

In the hallway, Ziera stops and casts Invisibility on herself, then proceeds around the corner into the room carefully, watching for bad guys.

Animagus: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Excellent, this is easy. The party is up first, then the animagus.

The room, as everyone expected, is occupied; but probably not by what you were expecting. A humanoid automaton is slowly pushing itself to it's feet on the far wall with the use of a walking stick. It appears to carved from a solid block of wood, and it's movements are eerily human. Several books surround the construct, and a scroll is clutched in it's hands. The construct has a wisps of white hair, a full white beard, and is wearing glasses. This is surely the talked off animagus, or one animated by a mage.

The creature is looking around curiously, though it's eyes do not seem to focus on any of the invisible attackers.

There is also a pedestal with a scroll in the corner.

The party is up. With the door opening the construct knows you are here, though he does not specifically detect you.

For now, Gray is content to study the device/thing/construct, not too keen to jump right into the fray and determine what combat capability the thing would have. He stepped lightly towards the animagus, waiting to see what it might do or when one of his companions would lose patience and start laying into it.

Ziera double moves toward the pedestal. Halfway through her move she pauses and says

Who are you?

She moves quickly after this so that she can't be targeted by a spell, but she wants to understand before just attacking, and, unlikely as it is, she desires a peaceful resolution to the situation. Unfortunately, she realizes this is unrealistic, and thinks they have to destroy the automaton to recover their memories, but she wants to see if it has anything to say first.

The construct looks at the place you spoke from.

I am the guardian and the keep of the scroll.

Map Female Aasimar Inactive

Since he didn't attack the place where she had been, Ziera takes a risk and asks from her current position

We believe that our memories were stolen and that some of them have been placed within you. Is there a way to extract them without your destruction?

The golem moves forward to the spot where he thought he heard Ziera. "My memories are my own."

Vince pops into view as he takes an attack of opportunity. Vince appears to strike true, but the golem shrugs off the attack.

The golem turns to Vince. "You are not the one that spoke so there are more of you."

The golem mutters an incantation, and a cloud of particles burst from him and covers the area within ten feet of him, revealing both the Azure Avenger and Vince. Vince shrieks as the dust blinds him. The golem notes the appearance of the Azure Avenger. "You did not speak either."

The golem smashes his fist into the ground. It shatters, sending splinters in all directions.

20 ft burst, so everyone but Edmund is included. Vince fails his save by being blinded.
