On the assumption you wouldn't want to use your sleep spell on the minor bugs, I switched you to a claw on the stirge attached to Pasara. Please let me know if this was not ok. (Or if it was.)
Good call. I approve this change.

He smiles back at her, handing the plaque back to Bakuu. "Let me go get..." he motions towards the rest of the house, "I'll be back in just a minute."
And true to his word, Arnholde is back quite quickly. He counts out the fifteen platnium coins and gratefully takes the plaque in trade. Just before the pair of adventurers are able to leave, "ummm... Sorry. What are your names?" Again seeming to be more focused on Pasara than Bakuu.
"Oh. I'm Pasara and this is Bakuu."
Pasara lets Bakuu take the platinum coins and enjoys her delight in the shininess.

Origena takes in the words, then nods. "Yes. And in a manner that I can present it to my people so they know they are safe. The last thing I want is for a bunch of farmers and fishermen to get up too much Druma-courage and go stumbling out into the fen drunk." Her lips tight with anxiety.
"That, I think we can do." She looks around the table, confirming that all are in agreement. "You will have our best efforts."
Bakuu said
"A beautiful memento indeed!" She debates for a moment, then looks between Sigrit and the Baroness. "Of course, we'd be... willing to do this for less... if this means much to you."
Beneath the table, out of sight, Sigrit gives Bakuu's arm a gentle squeeze of thanks.
Origena said
, "The important thing is not the gems, but the man who gave them to me, and I'd prefer to work to ensure that the Mother of Graves sends me to him. Caring for my people is one way of doing that."
"She sees what you do, and She knows what it costs you. She will remember."

Aka looks down at Farmer's broken gate from atop Hana, "Just a reminder, Farmer. And this goes for the rest of you as well. My offer to ride still stands, should you ever feel the walk is too onerous." she sweeps the surroundings with her slightly higher vantage point before her gaze returns to her companions.
From her saddle on Onyx, Pasara echoes, "I'm all too happy to switch off riding for walking, too, if anyone needs it."

Bloodsucks in the Fen - Round 2
Willem twists out of the grasp of the tiny bloodsucker, presenting the strige for Bakuu and then holds still.
After a few swipes and an errant bit, Medge eats bugs. Messily. She looks delighted. Precisely, she eats the bug that was draining Pasara.
The stirge recently yanked from Willem's fur buzzes angrily, then dives back in for another drink. However, the ratfolk gunslinger just manages to keep the vicious beastie from re-attaching. Fenyx's new friend takes a deeper sip, clinging tight to the elf. (Fenyx takes 1 point of Constitution damage.) Sensing Faf is distracted killing its brethren, the stirge tries again - this time drinking the sweet blood of victory. (Faf take 1 point of Constitution damage and has a stirge attached.)
Gentle Rest still charged, since no melee touch was achieved.
Aka rises up in her stirrups to get an angle on the stirge attached to Fenyx and putting her other friends at the least amount of additional risk. She draws, holds for just an instant, then fires her arrow with a prayer unsaid on her lips. Hana snorts and shakes her head as if to say, "I could have done just as well." Whether or not the horse was right, Aka's arrow does demolish the stirge attached to Fenyx.
Fenyx pulls his quarterstaff as he struggles through the mud, swinging and missing the last stirge buzzing around Willem.

"From what my people have been able to gather, the kobold's den is near the old flooded quarry. About a quarter mile into the fen."
"While I'm sure some of you can see in the dark," motioning to the elf, the ratkin, and the dwarf. "I think it would be safer for you all in the fen during daylight. Is there anything you think you need?"
Akatsuki turns to Faf, "I have not traveled much through that type of terrain. Is there anything in particular that you think we might need?" though her eyes sweep the entire group, it is clear her question is directed primarily towards the (former?) Arbitrator.

Fenyx gathers his things.
"Sorry, I have heard of those things only in books. The books describe illy the correct size of the stirges. They were clearly THIS BIG." He stretches his arms out all the way. He stomps on the one that bit him and steps to his place in the walking line.
"At least after they're flattened." Akatsuki says, affably enough.
Medge Houndslayer |
Pasara puts pressure on the wound that the strige left, at least till someone can look at it. "Thanks for the assist, Medge," she says.
"Not of a problem," Medge replies graciously.
Seeing Medge lick up the blood, she asks casually, "Tasty?"
"... Interesting," Medge says, glancing up. "You are having the hidden depths, Pasara Tanner."

Mana, I can do multiple rolls, if you prefer. I think the only damage left is constitution damage, which I can do anything about?
She applies bandages as appropriate, but admits she has no spells to fix the damage. "Extra food tonight, and extra rest. And no hard liquor, it would go straight to your head," is her prescription.
After that, she mournfully regards the quantity of mud that attached to her robes during her battle manuevers. She attempts to scrape some of the sticky stuff off with her sandal; most of it remains on the robe and the rest sticks enthusiastically to the sandal. She finds a stick, attempts to scrape mud off with that, and only succeeds in distributing it more evenly across the bottom half of her robes. She sighs heavily.
Sigrit Arkose |
Sigrit is pleased, but surprised, that others are willing to join her in this chore. She looks a bit touched, even. She introduces everyone to Calladastina, the mortician.
Calladastina again seems slightly off-put by Sigrit's touch. But she shows the cleric around the small funeral home and the graveyard in the back. Sigrit notices a number of simple stick fetishes around the fence of the graveyard, simple superstition to keep the dead sleeping peacefully.
Sigrit follows the tour with interest, and will praise anything that seems particularly efficient to her. Upon seeing the fetishes, she will inquire, "Have you had trouble with the undead here?"
When it comes to the work, Sigrit will ask for a cremation and a mass burial of the kobolds, a cremation and burial of the imp, but is willing to be guided by local custom for the human bodies. This is Calladastina's territory, and she will make it clear that their labor is under her direction. She will keep an eye on George, though, and if she thinks the boy is tiring, she will send him out with coin and instruction to bring back food and drink for five hungry laborers... and when he returns with it, she will insist that Calladistina take a break and eat with them.

The Blood Vow Lair - Gozran 29, 4713
Although the sharper eared members of the group call a stop to progress once or twice more during the slog through the fen (once because of the flapping of wings - which turned out to be a murder of crows), the group finds themselves on a dry bluff overlooking the flooded quarry. The lake that was once the quarry is still, the waters clear, and the group is able to pick out a small switchback hidden by foliage that will allow them to travel into the quarry safely. A fifty-foot-wide strip of shore stretches between the lake's edge and the forty-foot-high high quarry wall. The shore is strewn with stony debris. Several larger boulders have fallen right along the quarry wall about mid-way down the strip of land.
Near the large boulders, people can make out dark irregular shapes that could be entrances into quarry wall. And the two green-colored kobold guards at each entrance would seem to confirm that supposition.

Mana, I can do multiple rolls, if you prefer. I think the only damage left is constitution damage, which I can do anything about?
The one heal roll to assess the damage and take care of the injured is good.
With the exception of healing spells that Sigrit does not yet have access to, there is nothing that can be done immediately. With that heal check she is able to clean and bandage the wounds properly so as to limit introduction of harmful bacteria. Additionally, since Sigrit would know that bugs like the strige can often carry harmful diseases, she is able to determine that none of the wounds show any sign of inflammation (no disease sign at this time). For the current Constitution damage, a full nights sleep (as recommended by the very competent healer) will fully heal the injured. If someone takes more constitution damage, Sigrit can double the effectiveness of the healing by providing long-term care.

He bows to Pasara, kissing her hand (if she allows), "And I am very glad to have met the adventurers who braved the depths of Tower Tula."
Farmer is present for the burying. He doesn't dig, but he helps move the bodies. The smell doesn't seem to bother him.
Akatsuki is there as well. She has no compunctions about getting down in the dirt and helping where she can. This is not something she is overly familiar with, though, so she looks for directions from Sigrit and Calladastina. If she does not receive any, she asks.
Sigrit is pleased, but surprised, that others are willing to join her in this chore. She looks a bit touched, even. She introduces everyone to Calladastina, the mortician.
Calladastina doesn't seem hostile, just very dour. She does accept the help and even (very quietly) provides direction when Sigrit is focused on something else.
Sigrit follows the tour with interest, and will praise anything that seems particularly efficient to her. Upon seeing the fetishes, she will inquire, "Have you had trouble with the undead here?"
Calladastina shakes her head, "Nope, the charms work."
A moment later a small voice from the shadows pipes up, a girl with pale skin her hair a dark mass of black tangles. "Sis let me make them and we haven't had a single skeleton or zombie pull themselves out of the grave since I started."
A pause and then a quiet aside, which Sigrit and the others may (or may not) have been intended to hear, "'Course there weren't any before neither."
When it comes to the work, Sigrit will ask for a cremation and a mass burial of the kobolds, a cremation and burial of the imp, but is willing to be guided by local custom for the human bodies. This is Calladastina's territory, and she will make it clear that their labor is under her direction. George does work hard and he seems used to the physical labor. He also seems adept at hiding his own fatigue and when Sigrit realizes he is tiring, she realizes that normally she should have noticed a while ago.
The human bodies (in good Pharasmaian style) are wrapped. However they are buried since the small town does not have the underground structures needed for proper internment. The kobold bodies burn exceedingly well, leaving a small amount of ash which needs to be buried or spread. The imp's body, however, only burns reluctantly, finally giving in to the fire in a sickly green-yellow wash of light.
That smells like brimstone.

At Medge's loud greeting, the four kobold's burst into quiet whispers. The second guard near the north entrance, "তারা টাওয়ার ওপর ক্ষিপ্ত হয়! "

The other southern guard pushes the one that just spoke but not hard. "আমরা উইজার্ড হত্যা করা হয়নি, বনরক্ষক করেনি. "
The last guard, by the norther door again. "তারা গ্রাহ্য করা হবে না. তারা নেতা উইজার্ড হত্যা তাকে জানান যে যত্ন করব. "
Then quietly, the first kobold who spoke, "প্লাস আমরা মিনার ভেঙে. "
All the kobolds nod.... then six spears come flying at the group. (Most aimed at Medge, then the other people near behind - Sigrit and Farmer (with Black Willem probably in front of Sigrit).
Medge is 20-ft from the kobolds when the spears are thrown. Although the ground is rocky, it does not count as difficult terrain. Combat actions please.
