Mountainwalk: a high-altitude homebrew campaign (CLOSED RECRUITMENT)

Game Master Daynen

An isolated mountain town braves the cold in order to reach for the sky. Will they get off the ground, or will the lingering winter claim them all?

I'd like to reiterate something for clarity's sake: any secrets about your character should not be party knowledge: if you've created a few via the background, it's best to keep them out of public view. Spoiler them in your alias if you like, so people can at least TRY not to peek, and send them to me a private message so I can keep them all arranged in a safe place.

"You need my paperwork? Well fine, i got it mostly done..." Draken exclaims as he thrusts a handful of papers towards you. Reaching around he points with his index finger at one section of the front page. "This spot right here... i intentionally left this blank. ON Purpose. A couple of numbers need to be worked out before i can fill this in. "

A small puff of steam is exhaled through Drakens nostrils as he waits for what he expects to be ridicule. Exasperated with the silent treatment that was the only response he had gotten as the clock behind the receptionist ticked away, Draken finally states." The background should check out, and you should know i have a CLEAN history with the law... if that helps at all for qualifying for the Line-Guard..."

Lantern Lodge

Let's see what happens here...

Gene Pool: 1d20 ⇒ 3

Lantern Lodge

I'll try that again. I've played Human for 36 years and counting now.

Gene Pool: 1d20 ⇒ 19

Lantern Lodge

Now that's interesting

23 dice remaining

STR: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 6) = 17
DEX: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 6) = 16
CON: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 1) = 13
INT: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 3) = 12
WIS: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 1) = 13
CHA: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6) = 16

Lantern Lodge

Holy crap those rolls!

I think I may have to play now.

so did anyone feel like their character and my character might have had interactions? any back stories that people might be able to work together as either friends, family or acquaintances?

it might make things easier if we want to become a party later. though if you do not think your background would allow you to interact with Draken, or another character, that is okay.

Holy crap, not one, not two, but THREE half-elementals? The dice gods have a sense of humor; of this I am now absolutely certain.

Quick addendum: I forgot to bring up the subject of traits. Each character gets two traits, either according to their background or as an inspiration for it. Follow the pathfinder rules for selecting, i.e. only one from any one category, race-appropriate, etc. etc. Feel free to ask about traits if you need clarification or find one you think could be tailored to your story. I'm willing to discuss almost anything you think would make sense so we can see if it works.

1d20 ⇒ 17

str3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4) = 1111
dex4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 1) = 1312
con5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 3, 5) = 1612
int4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 5) = 1715
wis4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 2) = 1312
cha4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 5) = 1514

Everyone, welcome our eighth and final party member, appearing as a bit of a wildcard entry. He's as new as everyone else to PBP, so let's make like a team and start getting this party formed up! I've seen some backgrounds start coming together of late, but you've all been pretty quiet for the most part.

Start posting your questions and challenges you're having so we can get everyone up to speed; staying silent doesn't help anyone.

Also, take this opportunity to proofread, refine, and finalize everything in your backgrounds and character sheet. The more we do now, the better we'll all fit into the world when it's time to game.

welcome.

i wish you luck with your character. since you rolled a 17, i think it will be interesting to se what kind of elf you decide to breathe some life into for this setting.

"i believe i am ready"

i just need to finalize who knows who, who i know and who i do not know, in my back ground. Draken may not know all of you, but he should be able to know most everyone.

Just to help anyone with background syncing, Draken has some history with the Brewbanes as his ex mercenary team mate was a Brewbane. As a mercenary, he has been hired by even the line guard... once, so he has some history with them and he is currently trying to join their ranks. Plus, Draken is one of the very few elemental's in ALL of skyridge... even if he does not know you, you may know of him. He also does occasionally go to taverns, though his drinking has been less jovial as of late.

Hired? By the line guard? Seems farfetched. Granted, they primarily exist in my head as of yet, but I'd like to hear about that first...

eh, contracted... though i can change that easily if it does not meet DM approval.

How close is the average scholar-mage in Skyridge affiliated with the Cloudseekers?

ok so the only correction is that it was the SkyKnights that contracted him, not the line guard, though he is still currently trying to join the line guard's ranks...

@Edric: the Cloudseekers would likely be keenly interested in actual mages, but your level of affiliation would vary; your skillset and 'field of research' may or may not be precisely what they need more of at the time. Note that not all Cloudseekers are actual magic-users; many are simply skilled engineers, organizers, or experts in some relevant field of knowledge.

"I have seen this Draken Before. The Blade he wields is strongly forged and i recognize its design no doubt that was the work of my Father."

Are you sure? i am fine with allowing this, but Draken was give the sword around fifteen years old and he is only a total of 2 years older than freyr. would your father have still been alive to make it? or do you think it would have been one of his older works?

i think it wont matter who gave the sword to draken its could have been made by freyr's father.

ok then, we can go with that. that definitely works. which would mean our characters would each know of each other. they would just not actually know each other.

Slight delay, everyone: technical issues have struck. I'll have the intro posted before tomorrow's out.
