Human Metal Oracle/6

Agreed. That's just like Kyson; generous to a T. And not even worried if the ladder should break beneath the weight of Marcelio or myself and leave him stranded above.

You're a हर कोई उसे माना जाता है. काउंटी के कायर.

celestial translation:
...good and generous Friend, brother Kyson. Should anything happen, we will remember you.

With a nod, Kazmuk will ready to descend (using the ladder) if there is room to move down with Marcelio hanging on the rope.

Kyson smiles and responds in kind.

"अरे Kazmuk, आप के रूप में मेरे जांघिया में jello मैं सामान के रूप में गूंगा कर रहे हैं."

Celestial:

Marcelio shakes his head, yet another 'rescue' on the horizon, I can see Kyson now, mug hoisted, explaining how he was just unwrapping the maiden's linen when I pulled him away.

Marcelio is still determined to get a least one shot at the beast, heck he had visions of a perfect lob of alchemist fire to the things cranium, alas it was just that, a vision. Leaning through the opening he unleashes a single crossbow bolt.

shot: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 151d8 ⇒ 5

Then he starts climbing down the ladder with the rope hanging as an assist.

climb: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

As he climbs down he scans the ground below, taking particular interest in the mold thing and planning to use the rope to swing away from it once he gets within 10 feet of the bottom.

The arrow hits the mummy, but seems to have no effect -- other than waking it up.

It responds by pulling something from around its neck and lobbing it at you, at which point it explodes in a massive fireball.

I'm going to rule that everyone but Marcelio, who're still on top of the trapdoor, have improved cover: +4 Reflex saves, and treat as if you had Improved Initiative. Marcelio, however, doesn't get a Reflex save based on his perilious position on the chain but can choose to drop 40 feet to the floor instead. (Please decide before looking at the damage, Marcelio.)

Fireball damage:

5d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 6, 1) = 18

Initiative:

Kazmuk: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Kyson: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Marcelio: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Seiharu: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Mummy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Male Human Fighter 6

Unwilling to drop 40 feet into the mold, Marcelio braces for the blast.

ouch, medic!

Male Human Fighter 6

Marcelio scrabbles back up the chain/rope into the room above the trapdoor, his white eyes peering from a sooty face.

To hell with that, I'll be cinders before reaching the floor if that weepy thing can throw fireballs, whines Marcelio, what's plan B?

Seiharu leaps back patting himself as flames lick at his clothes. Then gives out a small sigh.

"Well, since we have lost any chance of surprise... I say we rush in swinging. I only pray that mud is not very deep."

With that, Seiharu vanishes, and his companions notice the rattling of the chain ladder as he quickly descends. Once a little more than halfway down the ladder, Seiharu releases his grip, dropping down to the slime-covered landing below. (He very much hopes the mold isn't so slippery that he loses his footing and dirties his clothes or skin.)

Feeling empowered from Kyson's blessings and shamed by his earlier retreat, Marcelio quaffs a potion of fly and prepares to swoop down on the mummy with net and trident in hand.

    Round 1
As Kyson heals his companions and Marcelio quaffs his potion of fly, Seiharu and Kazmuk land in the mold below. Suddenly acidic pseudopods lash out, with sickening effect. It doesn't seem to affect Seiharu, but Kazmuk suddenly smarts with pain and begins feeling ill to his stomach. 1 hp acid damage, sickened for 1 round

The mummy stands up, calling out "attack" in a strangely wet voice, then grabs another bead and throws it the two men, it again exploding into flame, though this time they're better able to avoid it. 5 hp damage to both

Kazmuk, as you land, you notice there appears to be some rubble buried in the mud to the south of you, which you suspect would be difficult -- and possible even painful -- to move through.

    Dice rolls:

    Seiharu Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Ugh! it's the potion or the rubble...trust the gnome's gift or take my chances with what's beneath the muck...choices, choices...

Kazmuk draws the potion, the odd little bottle gleaming slightly in the gloom. Something not unlike feathers tickles at his throat as he drinks it down and he can't help wondering if he's made the right choice.

He then moves, still invisible, to a position behind the mummy.

    Round 2:

    Mummy: 18
    Kazmuk: 15
    Kyson: 12
    Seiharu: 10
    Marcelio: 8

The mummy throws another fireball, though this time both Seiharu and Kazmuk are able to mostly avoid it 6 hp fire damage, as six skeletons crawl from from the muck in the western end of the room, rushing to surround Kazmuk.

As the oracle drinks his potion, a pair of the undead swipe at her, though neither are able to get through his armor. I added in a five-foot step for you to avoid more AoOs

Kyson almost falls as he starts down, but is able to make his way down afterward. If you want to retcon and not go all the way down considering the skeletons, that's fine. Let me know.

Seiharu leaps across the floor as Marcelio swoops in, throwing the net over the mummy, which lets out a gargling cry of protest: "Flee now or you shall all suffer for all eternity!"

    Dice rolls:

Kyson stops short of the skeletons on the ladder.

Ick...reminds me of when the wax melted in the Hive after the fireball. It seemed like a good idea at the time...I thought the wax would make it difficult for the Hive warriors to hold onto their weapons. Yeah...fumblebees.
