"I am looking," Tasha says as she jogs up to the others. "But I'd rather look on the move! Those might have been sentries; alarms may be ringing as we speak!"

Tasha's effort go for naught and you eventually continue your way into the spires, senses alert for more attacks that never come.

Eventually, you reach what you think must be the center of the Demon's Teeth.

The spires here stand in two concentric circles. The outer ring is 60 feet in diameter at its outer edge, with 12 spires. The inner ring is 30 feet in diameter, with 8 spires. Each spire ranges from 50 to 60 feet in height and is 5 feet by 5 feet at the base, tapering to about 2 feet by 2 feet at the top.

A finished octagonal pillar of stone stands in the center of the two circles, 5 feet across and 50 feet high. Unlike the other spires, the sides of this column have been polished to a smooth finish. A niche is carved 10 feet below the pillar’s peak, and is open on four sides. Inside this shrine sits a humble cup of rock, slightly larger than two cupped hands.

If that happens, wait for me to recover. And please, all of you use your own methods to look for traps; let's be smart about this."

Having spoken, the Mage looks around carefully -- and then casts a cantrip, scanning the area.

Tasha is indeed stunned as the powerful magic coming from the cup overwhelms her, causing her to involuntarily end the spell before she even realizes what she's doing.

None of you using natural senses see anything of particular concern, just more of the spires and statues.

With the spell cast, Ideyoshi begins to fly up toward the chalice, though he feels a strange pressure pulling him down, as if gravity were working harder against him. -4 to Fly checks

As he nears close, four pieces of what you thought were stones -- but which Ideyoshi realizes too late are in fact radiating evil -- suddenly animate, charging toward the paladin and driving their claws into their unsuspecting foe. 9, 9, 14 and 14 hp total

"Sagittae magicae, omne erroe vacuae, e manu meu evolete! Come forth, come forth, come forth!" Tasha shouts, thrusting out a hand. The air behind the stone creatures swirls, then animates as two small air elemental appear and barrel into the guardian creatures' backs, where they slash at them with keening, howling voices. Meanwhile, darts of force fly forth from Tasha's hand, striking a third creature.

Tasha casts Magic Missile at one of the stone creatures for 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 1) + 4 = 11 unerring force damage, and uses one surge of Mythic power to cast Summon Monster III as a swift action, calling 1d3 ⇒ 1 small air elementals into battle from behind the rock creatures.

The two air elementals attack:

The bolts slam into one of the foes as two elementals appear, slashing with cold winds at the rock creatures. A few chips of stone seem to fall away, but almost instantly the creatures begin to heal themselves, the wounds closing up as if they never were there. [ooc]fast healing

Two of the creatures flap over to nearer spires, perching at the tops 50 feet up, and breath out a stream of acid, hitting you as you remain bunched up together. 27 and 18 hp acid damage; both have Reflex save DC 19 for half

The other two flap their wings furiously as they hover in place, one clawing Ideyoshi 10, 13, 12 and 12 hp; 47 total and the other sending the elemental back to its home plane.

I should've spent a mythic point to make Ideyoshi's initiative an automatic 20. Then he'd get a chance to slice one or both of these things up. But I didn't think about that until it was too late! I suppose if Tasha has a featherfall handy, Ideyoshi may still be alive but unconscious.

Skaar grunts in pain but shakes off the pain. Following the wizard’s instruction, he surges forward, rushing to the fallen paladin’s side. As he does his acid burns begin to mend.

Double moving forward. Spending a mythic power for fast healing and another for an extra standard action so Skaar can ready to grapple whatever gets next to him.

Sorry for the delay again, guys. I seem to be slowing down on my posting rate, which I'll try to fix. I've got a couple freelance deadlines coming up and I'm hoping once those are finished I'll be back to my usual post-a-day rate.

Ideyoshi, rendered unconscious by the creature's savage attacks, floats slowly to the ground as Doraga rushes to the nearest pillar and begins climbing. Davro hits the creature, the arrow sticking in its stony flesh, though he can see the wound begin to close almost immediately.

Skaar also rushes forward, moving near Ideyoshi, as Tasha casts a protective spell and seeks cover by one of the pillars.

The creature nearest Skaar spews forth a cone of acid 29 hp, Reflex DC 19 for half, as the other wings down to the ground to retrieve the chalice from where Ideyoshi dropped it.

The remaining two wait, keeping their eyes on Davro and Doraga.

"Come forth, come forth, come forth," Tasha whispers, hands clasped in an arcane gesture. She draws on the mythic power of the foxhead again and limps for even better cover. "Bring me what I need!"

At the site of the chalice, the earth suddenly heaves and ruptures as 1d3 ⇒ 3 lantern archons appear, seize the sacred cup -- and shimmer away with the chalice! Soon enough, the tell-tale glow of the archons can be seen rocketing into the sky, away from the place of battle.

Tasha uses a Mythic surge to cast Summon Monster IV, procuring three Lantern Archons, which teleport away, one of them taking the chalice with it. The one with the chalice teleports over to Tasha, the other two providing a distraction.

Seeing the beasts look his way Davro quickly drops his bow and pulls Rageborn from the ground. Attempting to distract the beasts Davro roars, "Come and get me then!", as he does Rageborn glows green with magical power. Davro's wounds seem to heal slightly as he assumes a raging bearlike stance.

Davro switches weapons and his wounds begin to knit closed as Doraga continues to climb the pillar, moving 30 feet up and out of range of Davro.

Skaar readies himself again as Tasha summons archons to your aid.

Two of the gargoyles leap off in pursuit of the outsiders, while the two others remain to deal with you.

One flaps up and then lands heavily on the pillar Doraga is climbing, to no apparent effect, though its wounds continue to close.

The other rockets toward the archon closest to Tasha, its claws ripping through the creature's form, trailing streaks of light.

"Pox!" Tasha curses. She executes a tumble and roll, ending as far from the flying rock demon as she can. The archon teleports to her side, carrying the chalice, and fires its light ray at the demon at the same time that Tasha hisses the words to an incantation. Blue, howling light and arctic wind surround the creature, coating the earth with frost.

"I've got it!" Tasha shouts to the others. "Get over to me so I can gate us out of here!"

Tasha uses Acrobatics to get away from the demon without AoO: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24. The archon teleports with her as mentioned in-post, bringing the chalice. Archon attacks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 for 1d6 ⇒ 5 and 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 for 1d6 ⇒ 4. Tasha uses a mythic surge to Empower her Iceball spell and fires it at the demon, aiming it so the spell hits the enemy, not a teammate. Reflex save DC19 to halve 7d10 ⇒ (2, 10, 2, 8, 1, 9, 7) = 39 cold damage + half that, becomes 58 cold damage.

Skaar grabs Ideyoshi and races with him toward Tasha as she retreats and blasts the gargoyle with a ball of cold.

Roaring in pain, it again charges toward the archon, this time its claw dispersing the thing into motes of light that twinkle only momentarily before they fade off and return to the creature's own plane.

On the other pillar, the gargoyle again flies up and lands back heavily on the stone structure, again with no apparent effect.

As soon as everyone is in contact with her, Tasha reaches out to the power awakened by the foxhead and wrests a spell out of the aether. She mutters the slithery, space-wrenching words -- and carries the group away to the point where they first landed on the island, or as close thereto as she can get everyone.

OK, for purposes of avoiding a TPK, I'm going to tweak things a bit. Doraga is going to drop to the ground as an intentional fall and then can rush over with Tasha dimension dooring you away.

Doraga drops off the pillar, the badger twisting as it lands on its painfully on its feet 5 hp damage; 6 hp nonlethal and scrambles toward Tasha, who quickly casts, the gargoyles disappearing as you arrive somewhere else on the strange plain of spires. You can only go 680 feet, which is not really out of danger yet, but gives you a little breathing room.

Doraga Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11
