Ballar Fargrim |

Stepping into the room, Ballar notices the mirror and shoots Bud a wink, Gonna practice me daemon stare. Before Nivers can cover the thing Ballar peeks a look at the reflective surface making his best demon face; scrunching up his face, puckering his lips and poking out his tongue in an exact replica of what he'd seen the demon do in earlier mirrors. The dwarf even slides his finger across his throat and points menacingly at the mirror before miming the act of breaking it.

Zaehyra Sillaesa |

Zaehyra follows after Bud with her orison of detect magic, but instead of focusing of the mirror, she sweeps her gaze over the room trying to pick up an subtle traces of spell-work.

Terquem |
The party enters the room cautiously, and Niversal places the wrapped class face down on the table in the room, and then moves toward the glass on the fireplace.
Just before he can reach from the side to take the mirror from the mantel, Ballar wave a hand at him, and gives him a knowing look that says, “give” me a moment first.
The dwarf then rises up on his toes and peers into the mirror, which shows a shadowy reflection of the room behind him, and he sees the face of the mirror fiend glaring back at him from a place near the other end of the table. Ballar begins to make a face, taunting the mirror when suddenly the mirror fiend appears right beside Zae
When Ballar sees the mirror fiend he sees what he thinks is a reflection, but the fiend is not in the room. When the monster appears, and due to the Detect Magic abilities in use at the time it becomes sort of apparent that the monster somehow teleported out of the mirror where it was able to exist for some reason, it appears in the room in a place of its own choosing not necessarily where it was projecting its reflection. The monster appears, physically, in the room in a space adjacent to Zae, and gains surprise. At that moment, both Zae and Bud receive a powerful indication of magic, as if a spell like ability was just triggered, and then it is gone. The mirror does not now have a magic aura, but in the brief moment when Ballar did see the reflection of the creature in the mirror, the mirror was detecting as if a magic spell were active on it. The Monster will attempt to bite Zae, and then initiative will be established

Surprise Round…
A huge, dark and furry monster suddenly appears out of thin air right behind Zaehyra and attacks her with a savage bite to the shoulder.
Zea lets out a sound, a muffled exclamation of surprise. It is not a scream, but it is enough to startle Kamastra, who snarls menacingly, and rears backward, into a pounce position, but bumps into Imreal who is himself pushed back against the wall.
When Imreal strikes the wall with his back, the wood groans and shakes a little, dislodging what appears to be a large metal drum which was resting on a shelf high above the floor. The drum rolls off the shelf and falls directly onto Imreal’s head, knocking him unconscious.
The group is momentarily startled
Niversal is quick to take action and…
Round 1 begins

Bud sighs upon seeing both the fiend and Niversal disappearing. "Both of you? Really? All right then." He the prepares some spell components as if casting a spell but waits.
Preparing to cast glitterdust when Niversal appears to illuminate the fiend. I will try not to get any of the party but not really worried if I do.

Ballar does his best to see what the fiend is doing but really doesn't have a hope in...well, he knows it's still in the room. Ballar speaks in another language Those that speak that language will obviously know what he said but there is no obvious reply.
Not sure what to do right at the moment, Niversal esitates and then suddenly the cloth wrapped around the mirror on the table is whipped to the side, and floats down to the floor.

No one spills Sillaesa blood without soon regretting it.

Keryth Tarathiel |

~Round 2 Init 7~
Invisible himself, Keryth moves away (move action) from the now exposed mirror, and likely location of the fiend, not wanting to get caught in the area of the glitterdust(s) spell(s) about to be cast. He then begins casting a spell of his own... (summon monster III, 1 round casting)

Keryth feels a slight sensation, almost like dread, as he begins to suspect where the invisible creature might be, and wonders just what his associates are planning to do. Certainly there is the obvious thing that someone would cast Glitter Dust, but his friends are not signaling him in any way that this is what is coming, and then he vanishes from sight
Round 2…
Niversal, who has also disappeared, hesitates, looking for a safe place to retreat to in case the room suddenly becomes filled with magical fire or some other unexpected display of arcane power. He then sees the cloth her wrapped around the shard of glass on the table being pulled, quickly, aside.
At that moment Zae, taking her best guess at the general area of the magic aura she was following, casts a spell, and the area all around Keryth is covered in tinny specks which reflect the light like a thousand grains of polished sand.

And then Niversal, seeing the glittering form, runs along the south edge of the table and rounds the end to come in behind the monster.
Because Niversal must move his full movement to reach a place where he can attack the monster, I don’t believe he can take a Full Round Attack, and for now, unless I am missing some rule, I will only count the first attack. I am also confused as to why you do d8 in sneak attack damage

Keryth Tarathiel |

Keryth raises an eyebrow when the fiend vanishes a second time. So easily defeated? he thinks to himself as he scans the room for sign of the creature...
perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
I think you may have banished it from this plane. No telling how long it will be before it can return. If indeed it can. There is the chance that you actually killed it, but I doubt we are that lucky.

Terquem |
As Keryth explains what he thinks has just happened, he turns this way and that, and his eyes fall on the mirror over the mantle.

Ballar Fargrim |

Collecting his dorn's chain for another toss Ballar's head turns in the direction Keryth indicated, Tha big chick'n. Hide'n away jas when thangs were gett'n intereest'n. The cleric smirks, Well, wa do we know o'thas fiend. Should we smash it? Ballar points the decorative yet very solid iron ball at the mirror, 'Course tha twerp'll jas jump ta tha next mirror, righ? From the way the dwarf scratches the side of his head it is clear this is a genuine question. Having not studied fiends or of their ilk, Ballar turns to those better suited for advice.
Intuition: Should he smash the mirror?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

Zaehyra Sillaesa |

Can we follow after him somehow? I would hide magical artifacts such as the one we might be after in there.

Niversal Two Blades |

since its a magical device of some sort there may be a way to activate it. I have passing knowledge about such things and could either assist someone or try myself. Niversal says looking at the mirror warily.

Keryth Tarathiel |

I find it highly improbable that the mirror itself is magical in nature. If for no other reason than the sheer number of them we have found scattered throughout the tower already. The ability is likely the fiend's alone. I vote to smash it, and all the others as well.

Terquem |
As the conversation about the nature of the mirror, and the mirror fiend continues, you can see the monster stagger around in the reflection of the room.

Zaehyra Sillaesa |

I do agree with with Keryth. Smashing them may hinder the fiend at least. Perhaps inside a sealed container extra caution. Keeps the bits glass from cutting bare feet and might save a servants back from all the stooping.

Ballar Fargrim |

Use it?! Ballar gives the others his, "You've been smoking," look and hefting his dorn soundly makes his decision to agree with the pointy eared binder of spells. Stepping up to the mirror the cleric gives the staggering fiend a wink, Play times ov'r ya bawbag lov'n tube! Then lets the iron ball crash into the mirror's reflective surface.
Ballar smashes the mirror while the fiend is still visible.

Keryth Tarathiel |

And the one on the table my good dwarf, if you would, Keryth nods in approval while gesturing to the other mirror in the room. As a matter of interest, Keryth steals a glance at the mirror before Ballar pounds it into dust, to see if the fiend is present in it as well.
Good thing the mirror isn't (likely) magical. With Bud's roll, that would have been an auto fail due to the 1 and he would have suffered a mishap due to failing to activate blindly by 10 or more. Also, for the future, you cannot use aid another with UMD. (Or take 10)

Terquem |
Ballar’s weapon smashes the glass on the mantle sending tiny pieces of glass showering down upon the floor all around. At that moment, Keryth lifts a corner of the glass on the table until he can see a reflection of the table’s surface, and tries to see if the mirror fiend is there, but there is no sight or sign of the creature at all in this mirror.

Ballar Fargrim |

Ballar joins Keryth in sifting through the pieces. With no sign of the fiend the dwarf complains, Well tha was bloody disappoint'n. No shrieks o'terror. No fireworks or death thraws. Tisking Ballar looks at Niversal blankly as the thief reminds him of all the other mirrors, If they've go'tha dingus in'em we'll smash'm. Til than Ah'll no be do'n any errands fa'ya lad. Best keep tageth'r. Taking one more look around the room, but finding nothing on interest, Ballar steps to the door to keep watch until the others are ready to move on.
Perception in the room: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Perception in the hall: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Ballar will fall in behind Niversal as soon as he safely opens the next door.

Keryth Tarathiel |

Keryth stares at Ballar for a moment before shaking his head slightly while lifting the mirror from atop the table and unceremoniously dropping it upon the stone floor, smashing it to pieces. Grinding a few of the larger shards under the heel of his boot he remarks, Why would we wait?

Terquem |
Examining one shard of shattered mirror after another, the group can see no images of the fiend.
It is the same in every room they examine on the second floor of the tower, bedrooms, studies, and a small store room, all have small mirrors, which are soon destroyed, but nowhere does the fiend appear.
A perceptible calm can be felt throughout the tower, as if the threat of the monster has vanished permanently.
Venturing further upward, the party discovers the corpse of a human woman. She is tall, with elegant features, and dark red hair cut short falling to just above her collar. The woman wears a fighting robe, and a satchel is still around her, the strap of the satchel going over one of her shoulders. She appears to have died from a savage bite to the left arm which pierced an artery.
The third floor has more, well-appointed bedrooms, a practice room, for what would seem to be physical fitness, and not combat training, and a small pantry.
The fourth has a very well appointed bedroom, with a large, double sized bed (which shows signs of having been slept in), a small dining room on one side of the fourth floor has large doors which open out onto a small patio with a view of the town in the distance. There is another kitchen on this floor, and in one corner of the tower a secured room with four small coffers each holding several hundred coins (each coffer holds a different denomination of coins of this realm, copper, silver, gold, and some shiny metal which you know is not platinum, but appears more valuable than gold.
There are no other people in the tower, and after an hour or so of searching you conclude it is completely empty of any threats, the mirror fiend never appears, though many pieces of broken mirrored glass are found propped up on shelves and chairs throughout the tower. You do not find any large, undamaged, still in a frame, mirrors in the tower. It would seem the search for the mirror It’Dupree is hoping to find, was a failure.
