Ooops!
Merian ventures into the crumbling building, past the door she already dislodged. Inside, it is quite a mess. Papers strewn around, half a doll, a few smashed plates. As she moves further into the first room - probably a lounge - a large chunk of rotten plaster falls from the ceiling, hitting her on the shoulder. (Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6)
Poor Dillon also gets into difficulty, as he's startled by the falling plaster and steps back, dislodging some loose bricks which tumble around his ears. (Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2)

You may also make another Reflex save apiece.
The rest of you hear some crashing and banging from within.

"This place is coming down around us," she calls to him. "Unless you see something more important than used shorts, we should get out of here before it comes down completely."

There's at least one yelp from within, and sounds of disgust as well.
Dillan Surestep
Dillan looks over at Merian and her recent injury, "Perhaps there is nothing more here to discover." The rogue then carefully makes his way out of the building.
Once outside Dillan looks at the others, "Nothing within the home, just dirty laundry." He looks at the main building, "Shall we?"
Tre'duinne Braeguldae
Tre steps daintily away from the buildings doorway, on tiptoe with the lightest of touches to the earth. As he walks he answers Dillan, "Are you sure you and Merian are alright? Where is she, have you left her in there? The prison buildings left to decay like this are surely death traps to any who enter. We must be very careful from now on, or we could end up with someone dying like the professor."
Merian Benvalla
Sorry, thought my intention was clear. ;)
Merian follows Dillan out, looking much the worse for wear, a limp and a bleeding scalp both visible. She seems more annoyed than anything, however, and she agrees readily that the group should move on.
Um, quick question. Is Cassandra here or not?
Barret
Was wondering that myself, haven't heard anything from her in ages.
Barret's concerned face is replaced by a look of relief as he sees Merian come out of the building of her own power. "Good to see that your alright. We should move on."
Tre'duinne Braeguldae
Tre looks concerned as he glances over to the main prison building, wondering if it is really a sensible idea to enter such a ramshackle building. He is reticent about the group moving into it with out a full reccy. "Let's have a good look around before we enter, know the lie of the land. For this is not a friendly place and the buildings have a will of their own, which seems to be to fall and kill those who enter. Let us take a good look around the building before we enter, find a safe entry if we can."
+1 to move to the prison building....
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 to look at the grounds for a safe way to the building, roll another if you need to find the safest way in.
Knowledge(engineering) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 to aid another, discuss with Artrin the structure of the building to determine the best entrance (safest).

Looking at the main building while talking with Tre': "That main door looks like the best entrance, it appears to be rather sturdy, at least a lot more than the last building."
We're rolling great on this knowledge...

Looking at the front of the building, it once was quite an imposing entrance with a wide hallway flanked by waiting or reception rooms. The ravages of time have taken their toll however, but you all think that it's safe to go in that way.
The sun goes behind a cloud and all of a sudden it feels rather chilly.
Tre'duinne Braeguldae
At the mention of magic, Tre looks across at Barret, "What do you mean? That's not a magic I am familiar with, can you explain some more?" Tre stops as he waits Barret to answer. As Barret answers, Tre waves his hands in intricate patterns speaking few words in elven.
Tre casts detect magic in an effort to clarify what Barret just said, in the area Barret either just came from, or where he points to.
Tre'duinne Braeguldae
Tre goes over to the runes, rubbing the end of his elven chin as he studies them and thinks as he tries to understand their meaning and what they are doing here. "Strange, why have runes round this prison building and smeared with blood, why are they here, what are they used for, what power is left in them?" Tre asks out loud, not expecting anyone to answer, as he contemplates the tricky meaning of all this.
Knowledge(arcana) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Can Tre determine if the runes are recent or old? Is the blood relatively new, as it smears the runes?

As you all examine the runes and bring your expertise to bear upon them, you realise that they appear to be part of a large ritual that involved both abjuration and necromantic magic. The runes themselves are written in Varisian, and among numerous magical incantations, repeat the name Lyvar Hawkran dozens of times.
They appear to have been inscribed quite recently, no more than a couple of months ago.
Tre'duinne Braeguldae
Tre talks audibly to himself, but knowing the others will overhear."Strange, why would these runes be mentioning the nale of the last keeper of this prison, he was incarcerated with the rest, gave the ultimate sacrifice. So why use magics to seek his soul and to make protections? What could it have been for? " He stares looking for several minutes, though no new words escape his lips.
If no one makes comments, he will suggest they continue.

You go in the front entrance of the main building, treading cautiously and keeping your eyes open for anything untoward. This was once a wide hall flanked by a pair of waiting rooms, but the foyer to Harrowstone now lies in ruins. With little left to hold up the ceiling, the wooden beams above sag dramatically. The wall to the north contains a large pair of oaken doors. Even a casual observation of the roof here is enough to reveal that the balcony above is unstable.
Tre'duinne Braeguldae
Hearing a voice behind, Tre turns quickly, suspecting some evil in this place is working against them. Turning to Merian and Barrett he says in a voice full of concern. "Do you know who just said that?" He moves from under the dangerous balcony, not wanting to be caught in any falling debris. Pointing to the person or creature, he says "Stop! Hold! Do not come any closer. Who are are you? What is your business here? And what's this about Kendra?" He takes his bow and readies it in his hand.
