The half-orc grimaces at Chez's analysis. "It does look as though Vanthus has left us all to die down here, brothers and sisters. Let us do our best to disappoint him."

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

You open the door to the west and you see a bare room except for two sleeping bags on the floor. Two doors to the north are closed. When you look west, an odd sigh greets you: There is a door to the west that opens in, currently blocked by three barrels jammed up against the door. As you get closer, you notice two of the barrels are full to the brim with rocks.

HP 28/28, AC 20/14/16, F +5 R +5 W +7, Init +6, Per +9

"Hmm, dat strange," observes Baolo looking at the barrels with rocks. "Let's check di north doors first." Baolo walks over to the north door on the right and checks it for trouble.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

The door to the NW heads to a 10' square room used as a latrine. The door to the NE has bars and reinforced wood and perhaps, was used as a holding cell once. Both rooms are quite empty.

I don't see any other doors, but I think that passage to the west is unexplored, so...

"If there's no more doorways, there is always the western passage that we did not explore. I say we see what is in that direction.. She leads the way.

You move the barrels out of the way, correct?

HP 12; AC 19/15/14; F +3, R +4, W +0; Init +4; Perception +0; 2-W Fighter 1

Chez will knock on the door where the barrels are propped up against and say, "Hello, anyone in there?"

Chez will listen intently for any signs of anything scurrying.

If nothing is heard, then Chez will help Ialda move the barrels and comment, "I wonder what these were ment to keep from getting in here?

HP 28/28, AC 20/14/16, F +5 R +5 W +7, Init +6, Per +9

"Mebbe Penkus. Ialda, didn't ya say Vanthus said somethin' bout 'im." Baolo makes sure he has his bow ready with a sharp arrow while Chez and Ialda move the barrels.

"From his tone, I suspect he has left Penkus down here somewhere. Or what's left of Penkus, at least. The way he acted, I assume he waylaid him somewhere."

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Chez hears nothing behind the door, though he does notice the frame of the door is caved in toward him and a bit splintered.

"I'm just hoping he doesn't think the same thing if he finds where we hid the sailboat."

"I'm not sure what the heck is on the other side of this door, but be prepared for the worst. On the plus side, if there is another way out... this is probably it and I think we now know why he didn't use it."

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

After finishing with the barrels, Ialda makes sure the group is prepared before grabbing her flail with one hand pulling the door open with the other.

Ialda and Chez move the very heavy barrels, grunting at their weight. As Ialda opens the door and her eyes adjust to the darkness, she suddenly hears rapid movement and sees the approach of three ravenous zombies, grinding their teeth!

Impressive bow. I may need to shop for one with Lavinia's payment.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

I don't know what Kowaru can do with so many people in the way, but we will retcon his action.

The zombies move forward, as Aero and Baolo's arrows sail through the air. Aero's arrow hits the zombie in the jaw, but he just yanks it out and keeps advancing. No confirmation and no damage! Baolo's arrow hits and but it is also yanked out, leaving a very small wound. As they come into the light, you see they are wearing rotting studded leather armor.

Two of the zombies move in, provoking your readied actions. Ialda's flail bashes the creature in the head and some brain fluid leaks out but it does not stop it! Chez' rapier punctures his foe's eye, ripping part of the socket out but these undead are hard to put down!

Round 1: Zombies attack!
As these undead come closer, gnashing their teeth and moaning, they launch themselves at Ialda and Chez, their fanged maws opening wider than possible! The one on Ialda latches with its grimy fingers on to her shoulder, taking a vicious bite of flesh, as she screams in pain! Chez thankfully parries the attack with his swords and pushes the zombie back!
Attack on Ialda: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18

The third zombie gnashes its teeth in delight and anticipation, as it sees blood, waiting its turn!

Kowaru's Round 1 action if he has one and party's actions in Round 2!

Actually, the grapplee does not get pulled into the grappler's space any longer. They're just adjacent to each other.

Kowaru is momentarily stunned by the walking dead, but he is roused from his stupor by seeing one of them bite into Ialda's shoulder. "Let her go, abomination!" There is an anger in his voice that has not been evident until now. He races forwards and aims a kick at the corpse that moves.

Mechanics:

Move to B-7. Unarmed strike, LETHAL DAMAGE.

Round 2
Baolo curses at the failure of his shot to punch through the zombie. He draws forth another gold-fletched arrow, this one with hints of orange. He takes aim on the zombie grappling Ialda and fires off the arrow, taking a step back after the arrow is off. Steps back to C-5

Kowaru's eyes widen as he sees Ialda's hands grow more bestial and clawed, and that it tears through the meat of the zombie's flesh far better than their previous attacks. "There is no end to your surprises today, sister." He grabs at his kama, and sweeps the blade at the rotting cadaver.

Knowing her shot will be difficult with Chez in the way, and the intense combat, Aeronniell chooses to pray to Desna to guide his swing true yet again.

Bump for Kowaru.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Just realized that considering Ialda and Chez are at the door, there is no way Kowaru could have attacked, since the zombie no longer goes into your square when grappling. I don't know I gave him the attack last round to drop the zombie but too late to retcon. Kowaru watches the action.

Round 3 Zombies attack!

The zombie on Ialda leaps at her neck, its teeth landing on her shoulder, as it takes a chunk of the barbarian's flesh and locks on!

"I can't, sister!", the half-orc cried out. "The beast is too far away to strike, and I cannot reach it!" Kowaru crouched, tensing his muscles, waiting for a moment to pounce upon the walking dead and give Ialda a moment's respite.

Mechanics:

Move to C7 and ready an action to drag Ialda away from combat if she falls. Got a plan if things don't improve next round.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Ialda, you have the grappled condition, but you can full-attack with your claws, so you can take your second attack.

If you are grappled, you can attempt to break the grapple as a standard action by making a combat maneuver check (DC equal to your opponent's CMD; this does not provoke an attack of opportunity) or Escape Artist check (with a DC equal to your opponent's CMD). If you succeed, you break the grapple and can act normally. Alternatively, if you succeed, you can become the grappler, grappling the other creature (meaning that the other creature cannot freely release the grapple without making a combat maneuver check, while you can). Instead of attempting to break or reverse the grapple, you can take any action that doesn't require two hands to perform, such as cast a spell or make an attack or full attack with a light or one-handed weapon against any creature within your reach, including the creature that is grappling you. See the grappled condition for additional details.

Chez' rapier punctures its brain, despite its thick skull, and the zombie falls to the floor. Chez' shortsword cuts the back of Ialda's biting zombie's neck and it lets go, collapsing to the ground! Before you celebrate your victory and tend Ialda's wounds, you hear more moaning echoing in the tunnels, coming from the west. You cannot tell how close/far away they are.
