Jalal Hammada |

Tomorrow I'm headed on a trip for about a week. I'll have connectivity but not much time. I'll try to post when I can.

Jalal Hammada |

Laundry list of questions on the loot:
What about the urn? Did Anka find anything out about it?
And can we sell the artifacts like the MW kopesh or the non-magic shields?
Would the church buy them?
What do people want to sell?

Anka Sarraf |

Agreed on selling all the masterwork items and other things we found. We should probably bring the urn for an appraisal before opening it, then open it. Possibly after we finish exploring the tomb.

Jalal Hammada |

The "Paladin" has them:
Gold-plated books: Akhentepi biography, military descriptions of Osirion between 2350 and 2450 AR.
Unopened Urn
Masterwork Khopesh
Masterwork Spear
Light wooden shield from Mwangi?
Light wooden shield from Ankhentepi soldier
A composite shortbow (missing the string)
This is not including the potions or the magic shield, all of which we're keeping for the moment.

Rhade Poshment |

Didn't we also find some nifty masks on the wall near the really cool fully formed chariot? If we can lug it out, we could sell it as well as the portable masks.

Kakra's Spellcraft check reveals the following about the magical shield Jalal carries known as a Scarab Shield Pic:
This +1 light steel shield is fashioned in the shape of a scarab beetle—a creature that functions as a psychopomp for Pharasma, guiding the souls of the departed into the afterlife. Scarab shields are especially favored by archaeologists and tomb raiders for the protection they grant against guardians and vermin frequently found in ancient ruins and forgotten tombs.
Once per day on command, a scarab shield grants its wielder a +2 sacred bonus on saving throws against fear and death effects for 3 minutes. At any time while this bonus is in effect, the wielder can end the effect as a swift action for a burst of healing energy. The wielder loses the saving throw bonus, but is healed of 1d8+3 points of damage. In addition, a scarab shield can protect its wielder from swarms. If a mindless swarm attempts to enter the wielder’s space, the swarm must attempt a DC 11 Will save. If the save succeeds, the swarm can enter the wielder’s space and attack the wielder normally. If the save fails, the swarm instinctively avoids the space occupied by the wielder, completely ignoring the wielder for 3 rounds. This effect ends if the wielder makes any attacks, but the wielder may use non-attack spells or otherwise act without ending the effect. This ability functions once per day.

The "Paladin" has them:
Gold-plated books: Akhentepi biography, military descriptions of Osirion between 2350 and 2450 AR: There are 2 books; each can be sold for 275 gp at the Sunburst Market (an enormous open-air market in the bustling heart of Wati).
Four masks: Each mask is gold-plated and worth 70 gp.
Unopened Urn (worth 75 gp)
Found some papers also regarding
Masterwork Khopesh
Masterwork Spear
Light wooden shield from Mwangi?
Light wooden shield from Ankhentepi soldier
A composite shortbow (missing the string)This is not including the potions or the magic shield, all of which we're keeping for the moment.
Not on your list was the ornate chest where the poison blade trap was: worth 150 gp.
There were also five small sealed chests in the doll room; did you open those?

Laundry list of questions on the loot:

And can we sell the artifacts like the MW kopesh or the non-magic shields?

In response to your questions:
1. The urn most likely does not contain ashes, probably storage container for something else.
2. Yes, you can sell any or all of the stuff
3. Church will buy the books and masks from you only.

Jalal Hammada |

Weird, we got the clay urn, but forgot about the chests in the same room. And the trapped chest we looted, but didn't bring with us.
Should we open the urn? It can't be that bad, right?
And the Darkvision potion should go to a human. CLW potions to Anka and Alzaar, who can't heal themselves.

Jalal Hammada |

I say sell the non-magic shields, the MW weapons (unless someone wants the spear?), the shortbow, and the books/masks. Papers should be examined.
Then I suppose we go down and check out those other chests, do some more exploring and then try to figure out how to get the ornate chest and possibly the chariot out.

I see no issue with selling any of those.
About the magical shield however, its the same AC as my heavy shield so it'd only be useful to me for the other effects, is anyone else using a shield?

Rhade Poshment |

Jalal makes good sense.
When we start our next adventure into the tomb, could someone make a record of interesting antiquities we have found? That way we won't be scrambling like this to figure out what we can sell the next time we come up for air. Assuming we don't get tpk'd of course, lol.

Jalal Hammada |

Jalal is using a shield right now, so he can take it. I had thought to transition him to a two-handeder later and might still, but this shield is a nice bump at first level.
So Jalal will sell his normal shield.

Jalal Hammada |

Give me some time this weekend and I'll put together a loot spreadsheet. Until we decide on a different scheme, everything will be held in party funds.

Alzaar Na' Keth |

I think we should just sell what we have, after we open the urn and see what's in it, and invest in a few potions, maybe even a wand of cure light if we can afford it. The way this module is playing out, I'm definitely taking cure light next level. Lol. I'll have a gameplay post up for roleplaying purposes later today.

Jalal Hammada |

Ok, I did the first pass on the inventory. Everyone please look over your items and comment if something isn't correct. I'm sure I've missed something from your sheets. I've set it up for you can comment directly into the sheet, but you can't change it. Please make any comments and I'll make the changes.
And before you praise me at all, I'm not responsible for the format. I took this from another one of my games.
It appears that if we sell everything but the urn and potion that we found, we can get about 1200gp for it all.

Alzaar Na' Keth |

Ditto. Thanks Jalal! Let's just not forget to retrieve the chest, and maybe find someone from the city to help with the chariot? Before going back in, maybe we should pick up some masterwork weapons for the melee characters?

Rhade Poshment |

A couple masterwork swords is a pretty good idea, Alzaar. Or maybe, just one, and try to buy a wand of CLW or something. That tomb has been a doozy so far.

Alzaar Na' Keth |

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. One weapon, and a wand. I'm definitely picking up CLW next level. This place is brutal.

Anka Sarraf |

Sure! Also, did you have that write up already, Jalal? Its sexy and so orderly...mind if I steal it for other games? I generally like doing quartermastering stuff, but with my new work schedule its a bit harder..yay for 50 hours a week (actually super pleased by it).

Jalal Hammada |

It came from someone else in another one of my games. I just input all our info.
Ok, I've liquidated the items and purchased a wand of CLW for the party. Who's getting the Masterwork weapon?

Anka Sarraf |

Roll a d20 between all players that can use weapons for it? Alzaar, Jalal, Kakra and Anka? Highest roll takes the item?

![]() |

It would be a waste for me to be the first one with a masterwork weapon, I have no strength modifier and lack finesse. Even if I had finesse, I would have a whopping +2 to hit with a finessable masterwork weapon.

Alzaar Na' Keth |

We're better off letting one of the melee characters have it. Alzaar has a decent to hit with his whip but won't be doing a whole lot of damage so he won't need it.

Rhade Poshment |

Personally I think Anka should get the masterwork weapon. Magi seems to be really good damage dealers. Letting her hit more frequently would help all of us out tremendously in my opinion.

Jalal Hammada |

I concur. That would be a good investment for her even if she can use her Arcane Pool to make it magical. Anka, want to add a MW longsword to your inventory?

Anka Sarraf |

Sounds good! She'll scoop up a scimitar though. Even if she's not going all whirly dex dervish, the improved crit is nice! Plus, scimitars have a more Eastern feel :D

Alzaar Na' Keth |

So is Alzaar carrying the wand, or do you guys want someone who spends most of a fight conscious to keep it?

Jalal Hammada |

I suppose Jalal can carry it, it just means it's very rarely going to be used in combat. The only other option is Kakra, and that puts most of our healing in one basket.

Alzaar Na' Keth |

Yep. It seems we are all in agreement. Don't give the happy stick to the bard. Works for me.

Jalal Hammada |

Ok, I gave Anka a MW Scimitar and sold her longsword. I also gave Anka and Alzaar the potions of CLW and Alzaar the potion of Darkvision. I hope that is reasonable. Rhade, I didn't forget you, I just didn't see a good reason for you to have the potions!
Please speak up if you think something should be changed! And update your own sheets accordingly so you will remember if you have an item.

Rhade Poshment |

Am I hallucinating, or did Alzaar post he would be out for a couple of days? I can't find that post now, and want to be sure I'm not just making Alzaar take the lead for no reason.

Alzaar Na' Keth |

No, I was out. Thanks for botting me Rhade. :)

Alzaar Na' Keth |

Ok, so what's the deal guys? Did we lose our GM?

Jalal Hammada |

Still here. Looks like it's been a week since the GM posted anything. Maybe give him a little more time.
