Again, I apologize for the long delay. I think things are more or less settled into some normalcy here at home. I will make sure I post at least that I'm having issues if it happens again...and Quzman is dawdling in the back as appropriate it seems.

The_Gnoll_DM |

The bulbous creature in front of Dumah flurries at him with its claws and bite, ripping his flesh apart! It then latches on with its bite and sucks the blood from the Dumah's body!

Updated Combat Map
Please post your AC and CMD in your posts please. Thanks!
Eli, Tyronel, Jameena, and Quzman and then Dumah are up! These creatures are nasty!

Quzman rushes down the stairs, trying to join his friends in the thick of melee.
Double move down the stairs (I'm assuming those circles can be moved through, since Jameena and Dumah are on the other side of the south ones), and move through Ty to the square north of the red beast taking the AoO
AC 23, HP:55/55 CMD 22

Dumah |

I figure my only change to break the grapple is to climb out of its dead, limp limbs, so here goes...
Dumah will cast defensively Haste. DC 21 concentration check.
Concentration 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
With Quzman coming down the stairs, I believe I can get everyone in the range of it.
Hit points: 18 of 39, 13 CON, AC 12, CMD 15.
Edit: I see there is a different category of concentration roll for grappled, DC 10 + attackers CMB + spell level. Is that a second roll, or is it just the one?

The_Gnoll_DM |

The way to map appeared was that I was on the top of the steps, and I figured that would be difficult terrain for Ty.
The PRD states: Difficult terrain, such as heavy undergrowth, broken ground, or steep stairs, hampers movement. I would not consider these stairs to be steep, so it's not difficult terrain to move there, if you wish to change your action.

Waiting to see if Tyronel edits action, as that may influence Quzman's action as well.

Eli fails to rip off the Rast and it tries to bite and continue draining his blood. With +17 to grapple check, auto success.
A natural 1 (the d20 comes up 1) on an attack roll is always a miss
I know it's a long shot but don't I at least deserve the chance to see if you roll a 1 and it fails :)
Eli takes Tempest and attempts to slash the thing off his arm. Suddenly faster he slashes at it twice.

DM, if I can, I would definitely change my action. Obviously I will 5' step and fire off a full round attack with my bow.
Ty moves back down the stairs a bit and fires at the monster.

Quzman Garhani |

With my failed saved, that leaves me at the top of the stairs paralyzed I believe? Or would I have moved down to get into range of the effect first? My action would have changed to moving down in front of Tyronel to attack, if he wasn't paralyzed before finishing his move.

Quzman is paralyzed by the Rast's gaze when he turns the corner of the stairs.

No natural 1s.

Observing that the rest of the group was in alot of trouble, Ty tried to avert his gaze from the monster to avoid the gaze attacks. He knew the general direction of the monster he had wounded, and continued firing.

Averting Eyes: The opponent avoids looking at the creature's face, instead looking at its body, watching its shadow, tracking it in a reflective surface, etc. Each round, the opponent has a 50% chance to avoid having to make a saving throw against the gaze attack. The creature with the gaze attack, however, gains concealment against that opponent.
1d100 ⇒ 43
While trying to avoid the creature's gaze, Tyronel mistakenly looks into the creature's gaze but fights off the effect.
Fort save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25...success!
Attack 1 misses
Attack 2: 1d100 ⇒ 1..misses due to concealment
Attack 3: 1d100 ⇒ 82..hits, crits, and kills the creature
Fort save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21...success, Tyronel spots the Rast on Jameena and avoids the paralyzing effect and continues shooting at that creature.
Takes 5' step forward and 4th arrow hits Rast on Jameena and wounds it severely.

Jameena Al'Qadr |

Interesting fact - being grappled is very, very bad for Jameena, since it lowers her DEX to 12, causing both her Dodge and Dervish Dance feats to stop working.
Jameena slashes desperately at the rast sucking her blood, painfully aware that the deadly embrace is hampering her usual combat style.
Attack roll 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage roll 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack roll 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Attack roll 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage roll 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Potential crit:
Attack roll 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Damage roll 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Jameena does not avert her eyes, trusting her goddess to keep her safe. - Fort save 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29 vs DC 14
With most of her allies paralyzed or grappled, Jameena calls upon her Sarenrae to bolster her health and keep her standing long enough to slay the blood-sucking fiends. Dawnflower, let your healing flow from my touch. Lay on Hands - 7 remaining 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6) = 10
Grappled, Hasted. AC 21, hp 46/48, CON 13, CMD 18

Dumah |

I hate to point this out, but I believe the rast on Dumah did not take his round.
If Dumah survives the rast's attack, he will avert his gaze, ready a scroll and cast from it. Protection from Evil.
GM, if you think that readying a scroll is not something he could do with one hand while grappled, he'll use his bonded object to cast it.
In that case, concentration 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29.

The_Gnoll_DM |

I hate to point this out, but I believe the rast on Dumah did not take his round.
I appreciate the helpd, but yes, he did. Dumah lost a point of Con and is down to 15 hps (25 after Jameena's Channel). The Rasts go right after you. Also, with his Knowledge check, Dumah knows the creatures are not evil, so that spell would be useless. Feel free to change your action.

Dumah |

Also, with his Knowledge check, Dumah knows the creatures are not evil, so that spell would be useless. Feel free to change your action.[/ooc]
Thank you. I read back through again and see what you mean.
Dumah will cast Grease on Jameena. Grease gives a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks, combat manuever checks to escape grapples, and CMD to avoid grapples.
Grappled, Hasted, AC 12, CMD 15, HP 15/39, CON 12/14.

The_Gnoll_DM |

Just to clarify - Jameena did not channel, but swift-healed herself.
Thanks for that.
The Rast on Dumah bites him:

Damage: 3d4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) + 6 = 11

The Rast on Eli bites and continues to suck him dry, as Eli loses consciousness, but remains paralyzed.
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Grapple: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
Con loss: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Eli's HPs at -3/25 and Con at 6.
Party is up...don't forget Fort saves, unless you're averting gaze. Then 50% chance you don't have to make Save and you give creature 20% concealment.

Tyronel |

Noticing that the rest of the party is very worse for wear, Ty risks finding the closest enemy and firing at him.
Fort. Save 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Damn, that sucks.

Jameena Al'Qadr |

Free from grasp of the rast, Jameena glances around the room at her paralyzed and grappled friends. Realizing that both Eli and Dumah are close to death, she has no choice but to lower her scimitar for a moment to bolster their health before continuing the fight.
She does not flinch from the creature's paralyzing gaze, but stares it squarely in the eyes.
Fort save 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Feeling the protection of her goddess, she calls upon her to keep the Sand Stalkers alive until she can strike down the remaining blood-sucking monsters.
