Dumah |

Dumah’s profile updated to 7th level.
Armor Class 16, Hit Points 54/54, Mage Armor
DM
If it matters, while resting Dumah likely would have taken time to look at the Scroll of Kakishon. If you want to assume he did, here’s an Arcana roll: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32. If you’d rather ignore that for now, I totally understand; I don’t want to disrupt the flow of action.

Eli Wynnstock |

Before rushing into attack, Eli begins to recite encouraging words. As he speaks he moves back to the rest of the party. "You think you know us Qadir, but you are wrong...we never fail!

Move to H16
Is Eli wearing the new ChainMail?
AC:20 hp:48/48
Inspire Courage, haste
AC will be 25 if he was allowed to put on the Mythril Chain mail at a +2 bonus

Eli Wynnstock |

Waiting for Quzman's action. Yes, Eli, you may have the chain mail on. Dumah, Mage armor is fine with me, given its hour per level duration.
Jameena laid claim to it as well as Eli so I wanted to make sure the party was cool with Eli wearing it. I propose letting Eli have it since his AC is weaker than Jameena's and then we can sell the +1 Leather that he has on and the +1 small chain shirt we have to get Jameena better armor too.

Quzman's Fort save vs. Stench: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27...success!
As Quzman approaches within 30' of the trogolodyte, the creature's vile stench flares his nostrils, but he is able to withstand the smell this round and land a blow past the reptilian's enchanted breastplate, drawing blood.
The troglodyte looks at the wound then at Quzman and curses. "Vile human, how dare you strike a servant of Rovagug?!" He steps back and casts a divine spell at Quzman, smiling in his satisfaction!
Quzman Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8...failure!
Jameena is up!

Jameena Al'Qadr |

Everybody and their grandmother seems to be a divine spellcaster throwing around curses in this place...
In a graceful fluid motion, Jameena slides her scimitar from her scabbard and holds it high in a defiant challenge to her attacker.
Whatever your purpose, you are but one more servant of evil to cleanse from this place. DAWNFLOWER, AID ME! Smite evil
The scimitar flashes, too fast for the eye to follow.
+1 Scimitar - Smite Evil:
Attack roll 1d20 + 16 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 16 + 1 + 1 = 21
Damage roll 1d6 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 1 = 17 +7 if evil outsider
AC 27 vs Zayifid, 23 vs Trog. HP 21/61

The_Gnoll_DM |

Summary of Round 1:
Zayifid wounded Jameena
Dumah cast Haste
Eli inspired and moved
Quzman moved and wounded the troglodyte cleric
The trog moved back 5' and cast a spell at Quzman
Zayifid parried away Jameena's attack, Jameena's wound bled for 3 hit points, dropping her to 18/61 hps
Round 2:
Zayifid smiles. "All you zealots talk so much...let me show you true skill!"
With his scimitar in hand, he lashes out, apparently with a swing from right to left. Jameena drops her guard to deflect the blow, but at the last minute, realizes it was only a feint, and is too late when Zayifid reverses the swing and cuts her clear across her back, causing her to scream in pain! "Hahahaha...such a fool to fall for it! You should really see the pain on her face, Vardishal! After her death, Vardishal, I will turn my attention to you and pry the Scroll from your dead hand. Save yourself the pain and give it to me and I will let your friends live."
Zayifid's Bluff/Feint attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29 vs. 10 + Jameena's Base attack + wisdom modifier = 17! Success!
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24...hit
Jameena's AC without Dexterity: 19+4 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (3, 4, 5) = 17
Jameena Hit Points: 1/61
Jameena's wounds continue to bleed profusely!
Dumah, Eli, and Quzman are up!

Dumah |

Satisfied when he sees the effect of his first spell on his companions, Dumah turns his attention to their foes. Agreeing with Zayifid's assessment that we need Jameena to win this, he focuses his attention at the far wall. After a few arcane words and gestures, a black stain appears on the floor there. In mere moments the stain expands, erupts and grows in a tangle of massive grasping black tentacles. Not waiting to see how effect it is, Dumah slips to the north, keeping Jameena between Zayifid and himself.
Dumah will cast Black Tentacles at the intersection of L/M 13/14. For Zayifid, no save or spell resistance. Grab attack against Zayifid 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27. If it succeeds, damage is 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 and he is grappled.
That should put the area of effect out to include I13 but not H14.
Dumah will then move to F13.

Quzman Garhani |

Shouting out, "AH! My eyes. This smelly reptile has blinded me. Where is he hiding? I know he's still close by from his stench.", as he steps straight forward H22 and slashes blindly at the last known location of the beast.
Quzman Fort save vs. Stench: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23...success!
Quzman goes into a wild flurry, swinging blindly, but most of his attacks either flow through the air or clank off the troglodyte's breastplate, except for one that draws a small cry of pain.
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24...success!
Jameena continues to bleed for 3 points of damage, almost dropping her but for her spell Heroic Defiance, which cures her for 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3) = 15, and closes the bleeding wound in the process, bringing her current hit points to 13/61. She cannot lay on hands herself this round. Jameena and Eli to close the Round.

Eli Wynnstock |

"Stand strong heroes!" Eli continues to encourage the Sand Stalkers as he rushes the troglodyte. He slashes Tempest at the spell caster.

The_Gnoll_DM |

I'll add my action as soon as I'm 100% clear on the situation. According to the initiative track, Eli acts before the trog, so it's actions may be a bit different. GM, please confirm.
Also, I'm 1d6 hp short from Hero's Defiance.
No, Eli now goes after the troglodyte, so your action is up. Ooops, forgot about the extra d6 from HD. 1d6 ⇒ 2, so Jameena's hps at 15/61. You are up.

Jameena Al'Qadr |

In that case, Eli is probably in another position, since he can't attack the trog in E19 from H18. But since that is unlikely to affect my action...
Despite heavy blood loss, Jameena faces the enemy defiantly, slashing away at him.

Round 2 Summary:
Zayifid wounded Jameena severely
Dumah cast Black Tentacles that almost grappled Z
Quzman swung wildly, connecting once
Eli delayed
Trogolodye cast Hold Person, Dumah made save
Eli attacked troglodyte but missed, his weapon bouncing off creature's breastplate
Jameena's spell kept her standing and she cut Zayifid viciously and without remorse, all 3 times she swung her blade, drawing much blood

The_Gnoll_DM |

Round 2:
Zayifid's laughter is cut short, as he screams in pain! "You bi*ch! I am a Janni, alive for hundreds of years! You will pay for that!"
Zayifid moves to H14 and does his dance with his scimitar, feinting Jameena easily, and moving in for the killing blow! Amazingly, she wavers but does not fall!
Zayifid screams, "Aaaargh! Grundmoch, forget the bard, finish this whore off before she heals herself!"
Bluff check to Feint: With a DC of 17 and a +18 modifier, Zayifid automatically confirms the Feint, even with a roll of 1
Attack vs. AC without Dex of 24: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26..hit
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3d6 ⇒ (5) + 3 + (2, 1, 4) = 15
Jameena hit points: 0/61...she is disabled and has the staggered condition
Dumah and Quzman are up!
Quzman Fort save vs. Stench: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23...success
Quzman will need to make Perception check as a standard action to locate any enemies, DC 24
EDIT: The Feint is a move action so I've been screwing Zayifid, since his primary attack is +14 not +9, will use the correct value from now on.

Quzman Garhani |

Quzman Garhani wrote:Perception:1d20+10 (+4 vs Zayifid if it's an evil outsider)It's DC 28 for Zayifid, given his distance from Quzman. Since Quzman cannot detect any enemies, with all the sounds of battle and the grasping tentacles in the air, what does he do with his move action?
He can't pinpoint a square, but can he get a general direction as to what way combat was coming from? If so, he'd move half speed towards the sounds of melee. If not, he'll stay put and try and listen out for a shout from comrades to assist.

Quzman Garhani |

DM, I just realized I do not have the wisdom headband calculated into my skills as of yet. Quzman would have had another +2 from that. Up to you on if you'd allow me to retcon this, as I didn't take it with the roll, but he'd have made the DC24 by the hair of his teeth.

Sure, you can tell the general direction of where the troglodyte is, by the casting of his last spell. You can move towards him, if you'd like, at half speed.

Quzman Garhani |

"I know you're over here somewhere you filthy beast. I can still smell you!", as he moves directly towards the sound of the lizard.
Half speed would put him at E18, drawing an AoO. Not realizing he's in danger, I don't think he'd stop early.

The_Gnoll_DM |

I would assume Eli would yell to Quzman to "STOP" once he reached F19, but I appreciate the realism of the AoO.
Grundmoch acknowledges Zayifid and moves to F15, drawing an AoO from Eli.
AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24..hit
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 1 + (1) = 9
The troglodyte grimaces in pain and then looks at Zayifid and says in rough Common, "This only way, you grin and bear it!" With that, he calls upon his god's unholy power and channels negative energy, hitting all who are present! The party screams in pain as the black energy unleashed by the troglodyte rips off flesh and the brave paladin falls to the floor, her weapon clanging off the floor!
Zayifid, through gritted teeth, says, "It had to be done, that whore was going to kill me! Now, the rest of them are easy pickings!"
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6) = 16
Zayifid Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26....took 8 damage
Dumah Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7...took 16 damage

Eli Wynnstock |

Back in town but very tired so here is a quick post just to keep the game moving.
Eli keeps calling out inspiring words as he rushes to Jameena's side. Kneeling down he summons the arcane power into his hands and lets some healing power flow into her. Then he shouts some simple directions to Quzman on where he can find the Troglodyte.

She quickly mutters a prayer for Sarenrae for healing - first for herself, then for all the Sand Stalkers.
Swift LoH, then Channel Energy for all allies in range.
Lay on Hands 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) = 4

Summary of Round 3:
Zayifid feinted Jameena
Dumah cast True Strike from his scroll
Quzman perceived and moved toward the troglodyte
Grundmoch moved and channeled negative energy, dropping Jameena
Eli moved and healed Jameena
Jameena healed herself and channeled energy, healing herself, Eli, and Quzman.
Round 4:
Zayifid sighs, "You people sure are resilient!" As a move action, the Janni picks up Jameena's scimitar from the floor. Jameena does not threaten as she has no weapons in hand and Eli is too far, so no AoO. He then smiles and vanishes from sight!
Dumah and Quzman are up!

Jameena Al'Qadr |

Jameena coughs blood and snarls at the loss of her weapon.
"You will not be able to hide for long, Janni! Dumah, your spell with the glittering dust - use it to find him!"
Since I'm now weaponless, who are carrying the magic longspear, and the greataxe from the tomb?

Dumah |

Dumah will step to C14. Raising his hand, he uses the Ring of the Ram (3 charges) to strike out at Zayifid, hoping to knock him back into the tentacles.
To hit 1d20 + 39 ⇒ (14) + 39 = 53
Damage 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2) = 12
If Zayifid is invisible, then the True Strike spell makes Dumah unaffected by the miss chance for concealment, so it should still hit him if I’m understanding the concealment rules correctly.
If it hits, it should knock him back five feet for every 5 points that I beat his CMD by. When he enters the area of effect of the Black Tentacles spell, he would be attacked automatically.
Grapple to hit 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
I didn't include a +4 for him being prone, if that's the case. So, did I do that right? Did I miss any important rule elements?

I didn't include a +4 for him being prone, if that's the case. So, did I do that right? Did I miss any important rule elements?
Ok, 2 things:
1. The rules say: You can't attack an opponent that has total concealment, though you can attack into a square that you think he occupies. A successful attack into a square occupied by an enemy with total concealment has a 50% miss chance (instead of the normal 20% miss chance for an opponent with concealment). Thus, you have to tell me what square Dumah aims at with his Ring and if Zayifid is in that square, your attack hits, because it ignores the miss chance. If he is not in that square, then your attack completely misses.
2. If your attack hits, why would he be prone? No +4 bonus.
