I think there is a question to the orientation of the map. I posted that Eli would go north, Quzamn south, Ty East, and Bahiyy West. Of course I also said we were moving in a circular patrol. Is Eli currently North per the post or West because with the top of the map being north? If Eli is at the West side he will back up to E14; if he is at the North side he will move to E18. He wants to meet the rider while being close to Dumah.

The_Gnoll_DM |

If you rolled it already, no need to roll again.
Only if you made Perception check...
The figure rides its camel hard for about 2 rounds and then stops and dismounts the camel about 100 yards away from you. He pets the animal and begins walking toward the party.
If succesful on previous Perception check, you may try..

Dumah |

Holding his place, Dumah will call out to the individual {loud enough for all of the Sand Stalkers to hear) Ah, a priest of Lamashtu, god of all things deformed that fly above and crawl above and below the sand. To what do we owe the honor of this conversation, and why do you feel the need to call on your god’s power to deflect arrows? Should we be expecting danger as well?

The_Gnoll_DM |

"Ah, young wizard, Dumah, I was told you were the brains of the group. I see your studies in Katapesh these past months did not go to waste." The voice, also loud enough so you can hear, definitely sounds rough and male. "All praise to Lamashtu and my purpose shall be clear real soon. We should not be shouting across the desert sands. As for my god's power, shall we call it precautions? I have heard of the excellent skill of your friend, Tyronel, with a bow and given my clergy's reputation, one can never be to careful."

Eli Wynnstock |

Knowledge - Arcana 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Knowledge - Relgion 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
"Priest the taint of your kind reeks here as well as in Absolam, where we despise the monstrosities you court with. I spit as I say come forth and say your peace. We will not strike you unless you draw us to it." Who is responsible for the death of Hadir of Kelermane?"

Tyronel |

Hearing his name muttered by the clearly evil priest made an uncomfortable feeling run up Ty's back. Clearly the group's reputation proceeded them. That was probably not a good thing.

Lynxian |

"I know all about you, Eli the silver-tongued, and yet you do not know me. I am Lynxian, Lamashtu's avenger, and the terror of all heroes." The masked figure continues to confidently walk toward the party, weapon on his back. "Just as the humans seek champions such as yourselves to defend them from the monsters of the night, so do the monsters pray that my Lady send them an instrument of vengeance. I am that instrument, the nightmare of heroes everywhere. Many souls have I sent to my Lady. And now, the Gnoll King has requested assistance, seeking vengeance against the Sand Stalkers, for killing his gnolls and liberating Kelmarane. I am here on his behalf to exact that vengeance. Who killed Hadir? You should be more concerned about your fates. Are you afraid yet? You should be!" He then stops about 160' away.
Initiative!
Please excuse the name of "Lynxian", it belonged to a defunct character in a PbP that died in the first week, but why waste the image, right? Kind of fits the desert setting!

The_Gnoll_DM |

Initiative Rolls:
Lynxian: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Tyronel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Eli: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Dumah: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Quzman: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Bahiyy: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Order:
Dumah
Lynxian
Tyronel
Eli
Quzman
Bahiyy
EDIT: Try not to go out of order because npc actions may affect outcome of your actions. Thanks!

Dumah |

160'. That's an interesting distance... 10' outside of the range of most of Dumah's spells... They have studied us well indeed! And I suppose I gave them just what they needed. When I posted that Dumah took each Sand Stalker out to the desert to show them his spells and get them used to spell effects. Interesting indeed!
Dumah will step back 10' further away from Lamashtu's assassin. He will cast Shield on himself, assuming you are okay with his earlier post that he cast Mage Armor already.
Do you have a name that we can use to later mock those who thought to send you?

Lynxian |

Love your conspiracy theories Dumah! Actually, I chose 160' only to get the party within range of bad guy's spells! LOL...And yes, we'll say Dumah already had mage armor on. Moved Dumah to I14. I am confused by your question, Dumah. He gave you his name: Lynxian.
Lynxian's hands motion back and forth, as he weaves divine spell energy, as he yells to Tyronel, "Lamashtu, lay your judgment on him!"
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10...Tyronel feels evil energy wracking his body and he tries to resist but the might of the evil god is too much and when the pain subsides, all he sees is darkness, i.e. Tyronel is now blind!
"Resistance is futile!" Suddenly, there appears an exact copy of Lynxian's image and you cannot tell which one is the real oen, as there are now 2 images of Lynxian visible to all, except obviously Tyronel.

Tyronel |

Dammit! I'm not sure Ty has EVER made a save!
"I can't see anything, guys! That bastard has blinded me somehow!" Tyronel spends the round trying to get his bearings back.

Eli Wynnstock |

"Fear not Tyronel, the Sand Stalkers will lay this 'Avenger' to waste. We will not cower to the threats of man who is ashamed to show his face. The Sand Stalkers will do the memory of Hadir justice and leave his bones in the dust." Eli steps five feet back towards Dumah and allows his words to inspire.
Inspire Courage round one

Quzman Garhani |

Quzman snarls at the insolent beast, "You shall pay foul one for your unholy deeds. The light of redemption finds you wanting."
He whistles to Ky to heel as he moves 30' closer to the priest while drawing his weapons. Quzman quietly prays to Sarenrae for her assistance in taking down this infidel.
He casts Lead Blades as a standard action after taking a move action (and free action to draw during a move and whistle...I think the whistle is a free action, if not he'll wait till next round to actually give Ky an order). Lead Blades is from the APG, and causes his weapons to be one die higher in terms of damage. (i.e. d8 and d6 instead of d6 and d4). It lasts 1 minute per caster level.

Dumah |

[ooc]I expect to be offline much of the day, so I'll go ahead and post for Dumah in case Pete is able to come on later for Bahiyy. [/b]
Dumah will charge forward, club raised over his head! Once he is 140' away from Lynxian, he'll stop suddenly and unleash a lightning bolt at him. It should hit him and his ghostly duplicates.
Damage 5d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 1, 6) + 2 = 19. Reflex save DC17 for half damage.

Lynxian |

There's only 1 duplicate. Bahiyy is delaying.
Lynxian does not even try to move out of the way of the bolt of lightning. The bolt hits him, but he does not scream nor do you see his clothing charred. "My turn, wizard!" Lynxian's hands move again weaving spell energy and this time, a falchion made of force appears next to Dumah and swings at him, as if wielded by an invisible arm, penetrating his magical force field and cutting him for a minor wound.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25; Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Currently, Dumah is 140' away, Quzman is 130' away, Eli is 165' away, and Tyronel is 160' away and blind.

Eli Wynnstock |

"Fear not Sand Stalkers, this practitioner of bestiality has not the heart to withstand our might!" Eli continues to empower the party with his encouraging words while running to stand beside Dumah.
Laying a hand oh the magi's back he utters with arcane inflection, "The pain his blade has made you feel, let my magic erase and heal."
Inspire Courage round 2
Move to Dumahs right side
Cast cure light wounds 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Quzman Garhani |

Quzman snarls at the unholy display of power, and charges forward while calling for Ky to heel.
I mistook my move previously, I would have only been able to make a 20' move while casting. This time he will run flat out at 80' movement straight towards him.

The_Gnoll_DM |

Summary of Round 2:
Dumah cast Lightning Bolt, which did not seem to faze the servant of Lamashtu
Lynxian cast Spiritual Weapon at Dumah who was then cut
Eli moved next to Dumah and healed his wound
Quzman moved 80' toward the cleric (now 60' away)
Tyronel was still blind
Bahiyy double moved to Ty with the intent of dispelling the magic
Round 3
Dumah is up!

Dumah |

To Eli, Dumah says Thank you friend.
Dumah runs forward, following after Quzman. As he runs, his right hand raises high, green light growing around it as he calls out arcane phrases. The light quickly darts forward, swerving smoothly around Quzman as it spirals into three distinct spikes of emerald light before pounding into Lynxian.
Move action: 30' forward.
Standard action: cast Magic Missile, damage 3d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 5 = 14.

Lynxian |

Dumah runs forward, following after Quzman. As he runs, his right hand raises high, green light growing around it as he calls out arcane phrases. The light quickly darts forward, swerving smoothly around Quzman as it spirals into three distinct spikes of emerald light before pounding into Lynxian.
Dumah's energy missiles slam into Lynxian and he screams in disgust, though at his distance, Dumah cannot make out the exact curses. The hovering falchion takes another swing at Dumah, which connects, drawing blood from the mage again!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17; Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
You hear Lynxian's laugh echo through the desert night, as Dumah gets cut again. Then with Quzman running toward him, he yells, "Mage, you were right, my Mistress Lamashtu is the goddess of all things deformed that fly above and crawl above and below the sand and let me show you one of them now!" He reaches into his pocket and pulls something out that you cannot see. His hands then gyrate back and forth, wielding more unholy energy, chanting Lamashtu's name. There's a flash of black light and now standing next to him is a sixteen-foot-long scorpion with ferocious claws raised in challenge, stingered tail arched over its back. He points to Quzman and the giant scorpion skitters across the desert sands to Quzman and strikes at him with its stinger but fails to penetrate the ranger's breastplate, staining it with its black poison: Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16.

The_Gnoll_DM |

With Shield and Mage Armor going, Dumah is up to a AC of 20, if that makes a difference with the Spiritual Weapon that has been sicced on him.
Thanks, I looked at your profile and saw AC 16 and forgot you cast Shield on yourself. The falchion failed to penetrate your magical protections then, no damage, and no laughter.

Eli Wynnstock |

"Huzzah! The beast fornicator summons his lover since he is afraid to face us alone. Hold fast Sand Stalkers!!" Eli continues to inspire greatness in his comrades as he charges full speed to engage in battle with the villain.
Round 3 Inspire Courage, don't forget it gives you all a +1 on attack and weapon damage rolls as well as a +1 to save vs charm and fear effects
Run into closing range

Quzman Garhani |

Would Ky be closer with the command to heel given?
Quzman growls at the unnatural vermin before him. He does a quick step forward and to the left while taking a wild double slash at the beast. "You shall go back to whatever hell you came from!"
Attack (scim):1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage (scim):1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Attack (dagger):1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage (dagger):1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Bahiyy al Din |

Bahiyy runs forward, intending to summon a beast to attack the villian.
Run to E3, intention is to summon a leopard to B7 after the next round, who then charges and full attacks the vilian. Hope to get a grapple and then 4 claw attcks.....
I am away to a conference now, and no idea how good internet connection will be, please NPC Bahiyy as necessary, back on Monday.

The_Gnoll_DM |

Would Ky be closer with the command to heel given?
Yes, he's 10' behind you, will put him in next map.
Quzman growls at the unnatural vermin before him. He does a quick step forward and to the left while taking a wild double slash at the beast. "You shall go back to whatever hell you came from!"
Both of Quzman's swings penetrate the scorpion's carapace, drawing blood but the creature still stands.

The_Gnoll_DM |

Summary of Round 3:
Dumah moved 30' and shot magic missiles which seemed to hurt the cleric (110' away and off map)
Lynxian's falchion missed and he called forth a Giant scorpion, which missed Quzman
Quzman cut the scorpion twice
Eli ran 120' (now in N15)
Bahiyy ran 120' (still off the map)
Tyronel was left alone and blind in the desert
Dumah is up to start Round 4!

Eli Wynnstock |

I will be in class all day so I will go ahead and post for Eli
Eli circles around the scorpion staying out of the range of its snapping claws and then leaps into attack from the opposite side of Quzman. "First your pet will fall, and then will you Lynxian"
Rnd 4 Inspire Courage
Move to L15 -> K15 -> J16
Attack with Combat Expertise and Flanking; AC:19 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Damage Roll w cold and sneak attack 1d8 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (7) + (6) + (1, 4) = 18

The_Gnoll_DM |

While we wait for Dumah's action....
The giant scorpion attacks Quzman for wounding it, snapping both of its giant claws, which Quzman evades to the right and left respectively, but the creature's stinger rips through Quzman's armor straps, puncturing his shoulder and trying to inject its venom into the ranger's bloodstream, but Quzman rips his shoulder away before the black ichor can take effect!
Claw attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Claw attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Stinger: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25; Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Lynxian |

"Your tactics are well-known to me, Dumah. Your little sphere of fire cannot harm one protected by the hand of a goddess!" He does not even attempt to move out of the way, as the sphere engulfs him and he laughs.
"As for you, Eli, your talk is brave, but you cannot stand against my might, the might of Lamashtu!" His hands begin casting again, "Mistress, lend me the power to send these souls screaming to your womb!" Unholy black energy rains down on Lynxian from the sky. He then moves 30' back, while unsheathing his weapon, an ebony-bladed falchion and holding it in one hand pointed down into the sand.

The_Gnoll_DM |

Move to L15 -> K15 -> J16
To flank, Eli needs to move to J17, which I assume is what he does. However, his first move draws an AoO!
As Eli attempts to move around the scorpion, he fails to realize that the scorpion has reach and for a second lets down his defenses, and in that second, the stinger reacts with incredible speed at Eli, puncturing his chest and injecting him with black poison. Eli feels his Strength draining!Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25; Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Strength loss: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Despite his weakened and bloodied state, Eli manages to flank and hit the scorpion, causing it tremendous damage, but the creature still stands!

The_Gnoll_DM |

Can Dumah tell what he just cast?
Ooooh...almost forgot!
The falchion takes another swing at Dumah, cutting him deeply and staining his robes red with blood!
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29; Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7..uh oh, possible critical!
Confirmation: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26...confirmed!
Additional Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Total damage: 16!

Dumah |

Dumah wrote:Can Dumah tell what he just cast?Ooooh...almost forgot!

Yeah. Well, good thing you didn't forget that!
Thank you for the clarification of distances.
So now we are on Round 4 with Quzman, Bahiyy and Ty left to act?
