You have a good point, Quzman. Perhaps we should take these latest trophies and return to the monastery.

Dumah pulls his robe around himself tightly, dreading another night fighting off the fever.

"I am fine with either decision. My arrows can be fired all day, so I'd prefer to go take the place now. But I can't summon flaming things, or heal people's wounds so I'll leave the decision to you."

And I am certainly fine pushing forward as well; I merely want you to be aware of the level of arcane support I will be able to offer.

Quzman and Bahiyy vote back to monastery, Eli votes in town, and Dumah and Tyronel don't care either way, so the party heads back to town.

The party returns to the monastery and when news of their recent accomplishment is given to the camp, the party is greeted with jubilation and prayers to Sarenrae, that helps lighten the mood a little after the death of Brebork.

Exhausted and fighting the fever, Dumah says little and goes to the chapel. He settles into a pew and pulls out his books. Though his spellbook is open, he is not truly studying it, but rather is staring into the distance, lost deep in thought.

Garavel asks to meet with the party after they have had a chance to relax and enjoy their accomplishments.

"You have done great work today, killing the sub-chief, his dire boar pet, and 8 more gnolls. I believe that leaves about 1/2 of the tribe and the Chief from what you've told me, correct? I just wanted to let you know that the Princess' guards, the archers, and I are at your disposal for tomorrow, if you need us. You can scout the inside of the Battle Market, and upon your signal, we can come in and finish this once and for all. Our swords and bows are ready if you need us. Let me know your decision. Also, don't know how important this is, but Dashki, the gnoll expert, has not been seen since last night. In the aftermath of the ambush, we did not realize it till this morning. Don't know what that means, if anything."

Male Human Unchained Monk 6 | AC 21/21/17 | HP 66/66 | F+7, R+10, W+7 | Evasion | +2 on saves v. Enchantment spells and effects | Immune to all diseases, magical and supernatural | Init. +4; Perception +12 | CMD 27 | Speed 50'.

Grrr, Jarva never liked that guy!

"Do you think he is trustworthy, Garavel? He could be telling the gnolls about us right now, or he could have been kidnapped during all the action. Either way, it is too late to do anything about him right now. I say we finish this tomorrow one way or the other. We can certainly signal you."

Looking at the more experienced members of the party, Ty asks, "Speaking of trust, do you trust this flying creature in the town that you mentioned? If so, maybe we should meet it the first thing and tell it about the plan to see if it will assist us."

Tyronel wrote:
"Do you think he is trustworthy, Garavel?"

"I never much liked Dashki, he smelled, and seemed weird for my tastes. However, he had the Princess' favor so I tolerated him. Right now, I don't know if he was a spy for the gnolls or if he is in trouble, but as you said, Tyronel, we must ignore his fate for now and focus on ridding Kelmarane of the remaining gnolls and their leader."

Ok, remember, Eli, Bahiyy, Dumah, and Quzman are still diseased and Dumah is afflicted with 2 diseases. Bahiyy can make DC 18 Heal checks for Quzman, Eli, and Dumah (roll twice for Dumah). Then someone will need to make a Heal check on Bahiyy. If successful, you get a +4 bonus to your Fort Save that you roll the next morning.

I believe that duty must fall to Quzman and Bahiyy.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Heal (Bahiyy):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Heal (Eli):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Heal (Dumah):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Quzman listens to the discussion intently, turning to Tyronel, "I do not know how far we can trust the harpy as of yet. So far she has not betrayed us, and we did a favor for her, but her true loyalty is still unknown. I would not strike her first if I see her, but I also would not put our future in her hands at this time either."

With that, Quzman will go to see about preparing for watches, and making sure there is an archer on the roof at all times.

Eli and Dumah will receive +4 bonus to your Fort saves to resist the disease. By the next morning, Quzman is disease-free!

The remaining guards are alert that night for any retaliation, but thankfully, none comes. Everyone is tense that night, knowing what awaits them in the morning. In the morning, afer another night of treatment and medicines, the adventurers try to shake off the effects of the demon fever.

Anyone with ability damage recovers 2 points back; anyone with hit point damage, recovers 6 hit points. Fort saves from Eli, Dumah, and Bahiyy. The result of these Fort saves may influence Bahiyy's spell selection.

Fort Save Demon Fever 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Fort Save Undead 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

male Human Cleric 5

Bahiyy awakes the next morning, feeling at unease. "So, the gnoll expert is gone?" He shakes his head, "maybe he was too close to them? So, we have a harpy we don't trust and a possible traitor who vanished, anything else?" he inquires. "I think we should prepare for our next task then."

Fort save Bahiyy1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Heal check Eli 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Heal check Dumah 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Heal check Dumah 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Guys, I am out for most of the day today, so run Ty as needed. I'll be back this evening.

Dumah wrote:
Fort Save Demon Fever 1d20+6

Dumah fights off the effects of the undead disease, as his purple wound clears a little. However, the demon fever continues to ravage his body.

He loses 1d6 ⇒ 2 points of Con and another point of Con is drain, which he cannot recover through a lesser restoration. So of the 3 points of Con that he is currently down, he can only recover 1 point back.

Bahiyy al Din wrote:

Despite his best treatments and the fact that he previously fought off the disease, the demon fever returns and ravages his body viciously. Bahiyy loses 1d6 ⇒ 6 points of Con. None of it is drain and it is all recoverable.

Remember there are potions of lesser restoration you can purchase or spells you can memorize. Currently, Zastoran has 2 potions of LR (150 gp each), since they take a day to make. Spell casters, list in your profile memorized spells for the day. Thanks!

male Human Cleric 5

Bummer, that sucks, so Bahiyy will memorize two times Lesser restoration. And depending how it goes cast one or both on himself, thentreat Dumah to help him aagin to recover.
I'd also suggest we purchase the potions for Dumah, and after those awful rools, it would be good for Bahiyy to drink one too.

Casting of lesser restoration on himself:
1d4 ⇒ 2
1d4 ⇒ 1

And the rolls too.

Spells:
Orisons: Create Water; Detect Magic; Detect Poison; Stabilize
Spells:
1st: Endure elements (cast in the morning), Protection from evil, Shield of faith, Divine Favor (Domain spell)
2nd: 2x Lesser restoration (cast), Locate object (Domain spell)

Don't we already have some potions of lesser restoration? We bought a bunch before and Bahiyy was supposed to get all of the potions that Jarva was carrying.

For Save w/+4 bonus 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Eli returns to the monestary silent and reserved. Exaughsted physicaly and emotional he keeps to himself. In the morining he watches the sunrise with thoughts of Brebork weighing heavily on his soul.

Eli Wynnstock wrote:

Yeah, you previously had 4 LR potions, all of which were used up the previous morning when you also had to make the Fort Saves!

Eli resists the effects of the Demon Fever and is no longer diseased, as he feels the effects pass. He is however still missing 5 hit points.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman will drink one of his CLW in the morning to top off what is remaining of his wounds.

Potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

So I believe that puts Dumah at a 11 Con. Do we have enough credit with the potion master for a potion of LR?

Here's a roll for one... 1d4 ⇒ 3. I went back through the thread and saw where I was off. It is two Con drained, so the potion should take him back to Con 12, his max without higher powered healing.
Spells Memorized:
0 Level (4): Detect Magic, Light, Ray of Frost, Presdigitation (each usable nine times daily)
1st Level (3+1): Grease, Sleep, Mage Armor, Burning Hands*
2nd Level (2+1): Web, Flaming Sphere*, Flaming Sphere*

When you wake, Garavel is already up, anxious for any battle. He is with Samir and Amir and the Princess' two remaining guards (Fudiri and Jozan). The are armed with swords and bows.

"We are at your disposal, brave heroes."

male Human Cleric 5

Does Bahiyy have enough credit for a potion of lesser restoration?

From Eli's former barter for the Chime of Opening, you have exhausted your credit of the 3 LR potions. Thefore, Dumah and Bahiyy will have to pay 150 gp for each potion now or he can give them to you now with promise of payment later.

Dumah will promise payment later, pointing the the saleable gear they've captured as collateral.

Can I ask, what is the potionmaster's basis for his craft? Is he a cleric? Or is he just a master craftsman? Under the new Pathfinder rules, can he try to brew a potion for which he doesn't have the base spell at a higher Spellcraft penalty?

Yes, Zastoran is a cleric with the Brew Potion feat. To which new rules do you refer? Source?

male Human Cleric 5

Bahiyy promises to pay the 150gp. He then goes back to the others, "alright then, reagy to head off? I am alright, that's all." With this he flings his backpack over his shoulder, ready to move on.

Alright, and another roll, here we go:
1d4 ⇒ 1
Does the d4 roll higher then 2?

Bahiyy is down 2 points of Con and 4 hit points and -1 Fort Save.

SRD magic item creation rules. Never mind. The rule specifies that it does not apply to spell completion and spell trigger items, so it does not apply for potions.

Do we want to bring Garavel and the others with us? I am afraid they might be nothing more than fodder, and might do better staying here guarding the Princess. Any thoughts?

Based on what the harpy told us before, what is left of their force if they haven't received any reinforcements?

1 Ogre.
3 Bugbears.
10 gnolls.
Kardsward.
1 Goblin.
1 Harpy if she betrays us.
What else?

I don't know if they'd risk splitting that force to try and counterattack us, but I don't think we can take that find of a chance.

Just some record keeping, I think Dumah should take the potion of expidtious retreat and that Bahyii should hold on to the CMW one to use on the party as needed along with the other potions. As for the other gnoll gear we just collected, Ty and I refill our arrows and Ty took a chain shirt. Quzman put on the sub-chiefs armor but we left the flindbar with the other general gear we collected. Eli will be sure to bring the long key with us back to the village. I added the gear to my record on my character sheet, did I miss anything?

You are right. So your credit with the potion maker is now 538 gp.

I doubt they would really split such a force, as what remains, to attack the monastery. However, they may still attack more or less in force and sweep around us. I would feel best if there was a guard of some sort with the princess and the girl (her name escapes me at the moment. Quzman stands ready to lead whatever group is decided on coming in the final assault on the market.

Garavel, Amir, and Samir accompany the party, leaving the Princess, a well-enough warrior, with her 2 guards back at the monastery. The caravan members all send their prayers with the group, hoping beyond hope that the occupation ends tonight. You head back to Kelmarane, with 3 additional warriors in tow.

Garavel tells you he and his warriors are there for backup when you attack the whole tribe and he defers to your combat instructions in the field, as they seem to have served you well to date. You reach the outskirts of Kelmarane and as usual, nothing is stirring.

"So, what is the plan? Straight to the Battle Market? You going to confer with the harpy? Something else?"

male Human Cleric 5

"I'd suggest the guard house. Gives us a chance toreduce teir number. If they raise the alarm we have to deal with all of then at once. This way, we get smaller groups which are easier to handle. "

You currently see no guards around the guardhouse outside the Battle Market.

"You all said the harpy said she could remove the bugbears, right? If you believe her, maybe we should talk to her first and see if she still can do that," Tyronel suggests, shivering at the thought of dealing with such a creature.

male Human Cleric 5

"Why not, at least one option. But hold one second, I want to know, if they left something behind." With this he casts locate object.

He wants to find his bone mail.

"We need to find away to give ourselves the advantage, when your not holding the cards you need you have to make the other guy think you are. Quzman, can you find us a place where we have the advantage tacticly? I'm thinking if we can put Dumah and the archers up on a roof to cover us. Then we make it look like there are more of us coming from two differnt spots, both easily covered by the roof top guard. The idea is they will will come out to face us and split thier force, sending some after the decoy. We will be in once spot while the other is fake. Dumah can then act like a spider and tie up half with is magical webs, while the rest of us deal with the other part of the welcoming party. The archers can assist us from above and once we eliminate the first group will cross over the roof to start raining death down on the webed gnolls. The rest of us will then come arround and corner the remaing force slaughtering them all."

Bahiyy al Din wrote:

To be clear, the spell range at 3rd level is 520' and I have you on the outskirts of the village of Kelmarane. You may want to cast it when you're in town, because if the object is not in range, it says the spell automatically fails.

"Sounds like a great plan...if they're willing to leave the Battle Market, where we all assume they are hiding/bunkering down, having just lost 1/2 their tribe. And if not?"

male Human Cleric 5

"They know we have no more enforcements. A full scale assault is not a good option, and in the night they have more advantages," he recapulates. "Maybe we should scout he premises first, that might give us an idea."

Thanks for the clarification, yes, Bahiyy will wait then.
